"At the time of writing, public Internet connections fell below 19% from normal levels, cutting off service to tens of millions of users in Baghdad, and Basra, Karbala and other population centers were also affected," the Observatory said in a statement late on Monday.

"We believe that the new interruption is the biggest interruption we are observing in Baghdad to date," the Observatory said. Iraqi authorities have previously cut Internet services in the face of a wave of protests.

Earlier, Reuters news agency reported the deaths and injuries as Iraqi security forces attempted to break up protests at al-Ahrar bridge leading to al-Rashid Street in central Baghdad on Monday.

JJimmyjj:  It is very interesting to me that Trump took time from his ever- present Twitter defense of the impeachment investigation to retweet reports last night of Iraqis protesting at the Iranian embassy.

Why would the US POTUS, a guy who isn't noted for being a sober humanitarian,  care about a regional clash between minor players?

Well,  what IS Trump interested in? He's interested in business deals,  he's interested in improving the global business climate,  and he's interested in furthering US interests domestically and internationally. 

These tweets tells me that Trump sees Iraq, and removing Iranian influence from Iraq, as a policy goal of the US to further their business and foreign policy interests.

I could be overstating it,  but I don't think so. Trump didn't retweet info about Lebanese protests, or even about protests in Hong Kong-- yet he did about Iraq.

There is more US blood and treasure invested in Iraq, beneath the surface,  than is discussed in popular culture. Thankfully,  we are aware of it and backed it with our own treasure. And, it is very nice to see our faith fed sometimes. Godspeed,  Iraq, in your quest for true political and economic freedom!

The World Bank announced that the Iraqi economy is slowly recovering in 2019

"In the first half of 2019, GDP grew by 4.8% compared to the previous year, which led to a reversal in the contraction of the economy over the past two years," the World Bank said in a report on Iraq seen by the Economy News

He added that this growth comes as a result of the increase in crude oil production (up to 6.3% so far) and the recovery in non-oil economic activity, an increase of 5.6% in the first half of 2019 compared to last year

He stressed that "the recent recovery is due to improved levels of rainfall and the production of record agricultural crops and improved electricity production and expansionary fiscal policy linked to increased wage bill and public consumption

"Such positive developments are expected to raise real GDP growth to an estimated 4.6% by the end of the year," he said

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Commission, MP Noura al-Bajari, confirmed on Wednesday that the initiative to revalue and delete zeros from the Iraqi Dinar is ready for implementation by the Central Bank although it will be delayed by five years given the political and security situation of Iraq.

In an interview with IraqiNews.com al-Bajari said “The policy to delete zeros from the Iraqi currency is ready to be executed by the Central Bank, however, its implementation will be delayed by 5 years on the basis of the extreme security and political situation of the country.”

Al-Bajari said that the head of the Central Bank of Iraq had previously said that this policy from parliament was accepted and that the zeros will be deleted from the Iraqi currency in the next 5 years.

ChrisC:  IMO Trump is making it right all over the world whether they really want him to make it right or not.  However, accident, coincidence, or plan cooked up by Dr. Evil, we have a bomb about to go off with the banks that nobody knows is there except James Bond. 

 Can James disarm it before it goes off and blows this happy train off the rails is the question.  I am sure Trump has a plan to keep this from ruining everybody's picnic, and I have thought of a whole bunch of scenarios, but I am just not sure which one is going to work and still remove their hooks from us. 

It is a really thorny situation. 

IF all this RV money makes it into the economy and has several years to stir around we are going to see another Golden Age in peace, prosperity, innovation and increase in spiritual awareness.

Armed clashes between Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia led by Qais al-Khazali and al-Saraya militia took place in the city of Nasiriyah in Dhi Qar province on Friday evening, local media reported.

According to what was circulated, these armed clashes took place after the gangs targeted the demonstrators with live bullets and killed large numbers of them.

Western media, citing local sources in the southern province of Diwaniya, confirmed that 12 demonstrators were burned to death inside the headquarters of Badr Organization led by Hadi al-Amiri when they were surrounded by fire after storming the headquarters, which led to the charred bodies.

While security sources pointed to the high number of victims on Friday to more than 30 dead and hundreds injured and suffocated cases.

The security sources explained that the Iraqis burned 50 government buildings and party headquarters in the provinces of central and southern Iraq, after the security forces attempts to disperse the demonstrators.

In addition, a leaked audio recording showed that the director of operations at the Ministry of Health threatened hospital administrators in Baghdad, preventing them from revealing the numbers and data of victims of the suppression of demonstrations, who were shot live during the events of the 25th of October uprising.

As activists circulated on the social networking site video clip in which one of the demonstrators in love with Iraq as an Iraqi who loves freedom will not be subject and the homeland for him an identity, stressing that the time of paganism has not, and they decided to rise up in the face of those who stole Iraqis in the name of religion.
