Samson: Source: Iraqi government will restore Internet service while banning some applications

A government source revealed on Monday that there is a decision by the Iraqi government to restore the Internet service to the country, while banning some applications.
The source said in a press statement continued (independent), "The Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi told the institutions concerned the need to restore the Internet to normal, but asked to ban some applications such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and possibly Twitter as well." He added that "the return of the Internet may be available in the next two days, but the feature of uploading videos and pictures will not be available."
It is noteworthy that the Internet service in Iraq was cut off five days ago because of the protests that erupted in the country and the government decided to cut them off Iraqi cities except the Kurdistan region of Iraq. LINK

Samson: World Bank signs $2.2m project to strengthen Việt Nam’s banking sector

The World Bank (WB) and the State Bank of Việt Nam (SBV) on Tuesday signed a financing agreement for a grant worth US$2.2 million to implement a project aimed at strengthening the soundness and resilience of Việt Nam’s banking sector.
Sponsored by the Swiss Government, the grand is designed to improve SBV’s capacity in removing bottlenecks in the banking system.
Under the agreement, the WB will provide technical assistance to launch reforms set in the Restructuring Plan of the Financial System 2016-20 and the Development Strategy of Việt Nam Banking Sector to 2025. At the ceremony, WB Country Director for Việt Nam Ousmane Dione said a sound banking system is of great significance to the sustainable economic development of a country.

These people need to have the last decade and a half back that was stolen from them by the Iranians and continues to be stolen from them and will always be stolen from them as long as they have a hand in their government. These people need to not take their feet off of the throat of the govt until they submit. If they do, they are going to regroup and weaken their attack. These continued killings and Saddam like handling of the protestors is going to be a cup of gas on the barbie though most likely. I guess everyone heard what happened in India?

This nations monetary system was born in the chaos of the revolution; the confederate south monetary system was born in the chaos of the civil war.
Kuwait monetary system was reimplemented by candle light and buckets of water...what I'm seeing in Iraq right now, is more promising for Activating monetary reform now, than the check list of things I've been reading about on different sites over the years, that allegedly must happen first...imo

StephenMac63: From what I'm seeing, everyone that has been in the position of the Prime Minister all have served a purpose. Maliki was chosen because he had 6 brothers that suffered the fate of Saddam and logic tells us that he would do anything to NOT be like Saddam....well, I guess logic didn't work on that one, he went rogue as he had the taste of riches and left the country riddled with ISIS.
In fact, he was encouraging ISIS as he gave the direct order that if ISIS shows up, drop your weapons and high tail it out of there. This allowed ISIS to have up to date equipment because we provided tanks, hummers, and ammo to the Iraqi Army that bailed.
Got rid of Maliki and inserted Abadi.....Abadi spent the majority of his term calming the people,

MilitiaMan: Lets hope the fire the citizens brought out over the past 5 days has the affect we await and they need! I have a feeling that the support they are getting from around the world, is squarely on the politicians backs now. They've been AWOKE imo..
It maybe very hard to roam the green zone with out having an uneasy feeling that one may have a target on their back effectively. It may be a very eerie feeling of the unknown consequences, if one has not been on the up and up in dealing with promises made and not kept, or using funds for personal gain, etc.. Those things the youth may have been privy to, may not be easily forgotten or left on deaf ears.
So, timing now is crucial for them to complete the reforms and get the market economy underway and international, ASAP. As that will usher in the employment and put purchase power in their hands.
They can not all be that dim to not know that lifting the value of the Sovereign Currency will actually fix things! imo ~ MM

RGJ: All imo, something to ponder. I am excited for the Iraqi citizens if the government follows through with the plan to put in a caretaker govt for a year to rid the government of Iranian influence.
Mahadi must go and Saleh would be great imo. I am really fascinated by the prospect of Dr. Shabibi being the finance minister, I always thought he would play a role at the end. Imo only, I believe if this happens we will be waiting for January 2020- I have been in this almost 13 years and I remember Dr. Shabibi stating he likes the beginning of a year and the middle of the year.
If this all happens, they will take some time to get ready imo- January is right around the corner. Before you think I am being negative, I tell you I am more excited with this prospect than the current situation. This is not against Franks intel, I appreciate everything he does, this is just imo and food for thought.
OlLar: I believe he said although it's not the only time you can change the value ,it's the best time for bookkeeping purposes, in light of the circumstances, i believe he will make an exception.

Samson: Russia is betting on China and gold

The share of yuan-denominated assets rose to 14.2 percent of Russia's international reserves, which recently reached $532 billion, according to data from the Russian Central Bank for the end of March.
The data indicates that Russian investment in Chinese assets increased by 8.7% this year, accompanied by the growth of the yen's share in Russia's international reserves from 1.7% to 10.2%.
Meanwhile, the dollar's share of Russia's reserves fell from 43.7% in April 2018 to just 23.6%.
Over the past two years, Russia has tended to reduce the dollar's share of its international reserves, due to Washington's sanctions policy.
