.Michael Burry Just Went ALL IN on Economic Collapse

Lucid Investing: 8-22-2022

It seems like Michael Burry has predicted economic collapse and a global financial crisis.

A recession is already here, and some people believe things could get worse, with record high inflation and debt levels, meaning a 2022 stock market crash is possible.

In fact he's predicting a crash on the scale of the dot com bubble and the great recession of 2008

Michael Burry, alongside many other super investors like Ray Dalio, Chamath Palihapitiya and Bill Ackman, has been bearish on the current economy and stock market, and is especially concerned about how much spending and borrowing has been taking place.

This is the Root of the American Economic Problems

.This is the Root of the All American Economic Problems

The Nomad Economist: Premiered 18 hours ago

A magnificent overview of America’s economic difficulties that succinctly points out the root of the problem: the Federal Reserve. Time to end it. What made America great was the fact that the average Joe could work hard and provide for his family. It was called the American Dream.

But somewhere along the way something went wrong, and the dream became a nightmare. The biggest culprit in the death of the American Dream is the US Federal Government. In general, when a government stays put and does not infringe on the personal and financial lives of its people, one can almost bet that things will remain pretty stable.

However, sooner or later a Government becomes a Frankensteinian operation that must feed its Gargantuan creature called Bureaucracy.

And the only way to feed that giant monster is with money, which then becomes the State’s obsession since it can never have enough.

Soon the State’s relationship with the citizenry it was meant to serve becomes exactly like that of a two-bit Mafia don with its coerced victims: “I want my cut. Capisce?” Eventually the State’s obsession with money trickles down to every stratum of society.

As Newton’s third law of motion proved, for every action there is systematically an equal reaction accompanied by opposite reactions no one expected. And that’s what went wrong in America.

As the money obsession spread, money morphed from a means to an end to the end of all means, with terrible consequences. The purpose or the end of money has become money itself. As a result, all responsibility has been thrown out the window.

The problem began at the Federal level when the US Government (USG) allowed the Federal Reserve System to come into existence, without any Congressional oversight and without Constitutional Ratification. The Fed – as it is called – is a private institution disguised as Federal that creates money out of thin air.

Its primary purpose is to enrich its secret and not so secret members via unlimited money printing. Its secondary purpose is to feed the USG’s gargantuan operations – at the right interest rate, of course. Hence to the Fed money is its own end. It creates money to get money.

And the reason it is so is because the con-artists who control it via their private banks made it so. The robber Barons of old used money as a means to develop the United States by creating infrastructures and industries. But not today. Our contemporary robbers only want money for money’s sake. They create money with no worth (i.e., with no gold or silver to back it up) and give it the veneer of value through various money market instruments.

The Fed is an ungodly printing machine of fiat money or paper money solely at the disposal of irresponsible money-addicted monsters who can never accumulate enough.

When a mom and pop business takes roots, its purpose is to take care of the family. Its end is noble. However, as mega corporations displace the majority of the mom and pop businesses throughout the US, their only purpose becomes the satisfaction of their greedy shareholders who apparently can never get enough profit. Thus profit becomes the ungodly god.

If there is not enough of it, employees who depend on their jobs to care for their families are laid off without any sense of responsibility or mercy, while CEOs still get to cash their multi-million dollar paychecks – salaries that could easily be reduced and redistributed to keep more employees on board until a recovery.

In truth, these CEOs need a Heart Adjustment. The bottom line is no longer the family’s well-being, but the profit margin of corporations and the padded bank accounts of their executives.

Though there are many good Americans throughout the land who still espouse good old fashioned morality, there are also many who embrace greed as their primary end in life. Greed is an ungodly cancer that plunges those who harbor it into moral and spiritual bankruptcy.

Strangely, it’s not just the rich and the super rich who are infected with its virus. Millions of Americans want money the easy way, just like the Fed.

CandyKisses:  The situation of Iraq on the table of the Egyptian “El Alamein” summit

Shafaq News / The city of El Alamein, west of the Egyptian governorate of Alexandria, will host tomorrow, Monday, a mini-Arab-Egyptian summit, in the presence of leaders of 5 countries: Iraq, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan and Egypt.

This summit comes at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, within the framework of continuous coordination and consultation between these countries, to serve joint Arab action and push Arab relations to an advanced level, to face various current international and regional challenges.

Shafaq News Agency has learned that the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, will be in Egypt in the coming hours to participate in the summit, which will discuss security and intelligence files, in addition to economic and political files, and the situation in the region in general.

The President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived earlier today in the Egyptian city of El Alamein, and the official Jordanian TV confirmed the participation of King Abdullah II in the summit.

Last March, the Jordanian capital, Amman, hosted a four-way summit in which the leaders of the UAE, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq participated.

The El Alamein summit will witness the discussion of a number of regional issues, on top of which are "the Palestinian issue, the situations in Iraq, Libya and Yemen, and the need to reach a political solution in Syria, as well as the continuation of the Renaissance Dam crisis," according to the Arabic "Sky News".

A member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Rakha Hassan, said that "the summit will consider the political confusion in Iraq, the Palestinian issue and its recent developments, in addition to the impact of the United States' return to the Iranian nuclear file on the region, as well as the change in Turkish policies and the presentation of a breakthrough with Syria, as well as the position inflamed in Libya.

While the former Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister, an expert in international relations, Hussein Haridy, confirmed during his speech to "Sky News" that the summit "sends a message that the Arab countries are alert to the changes taking place in the region, and have the political will to defend their interests, It will address, in an overview, the current developments at the level of the region, the Gulf, the Red Sea, North Africa and the eastern Mediterranean, the developments in Syria and Iraq, and how to provide support to the Palestinian cause as it is the central issue of the Arabs.

Tishwash:  Parliamentary Finance: The Food Security Law needs final accounts

The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed, on Monday, that the Food Security Law needs final accounts.

Committee member Jamal Kougar told the official newspaper and its independent follower, “If the Food Security Law is dealt with as a budget or part of a budget, it needs final accounts, because without the final accounts there is no control over the disbursement of funds.”

Cougar added that “in the event of delay in approving the budget, the government goes to the 1/12 exchange rule because the Food Security Law did not indicate that it is a financial law, and there is no operational or investment side in it, that is, there are no fixed amounts that are repeated annually while the budget law exists It is 75% operational.”

And the Parliamentary Finance member added, “The law ends at the end of the year, like all financial laws, except for the operating budget,” noting that “in the event that it is agreed to hold early elections, in all cases, we need six months, and the government is supposed to prepare the final accounts of this law   link

Tiswhwash:  Between oil and construction... China is consolidating its presence in Iraq

In Iraq, rich in oil and poor in infrastructure, China has found a foothold. In addition to the work of its companies in the oil field, it is building schools and an airport in projects that this country needs, but it puts it in the face of the risk of falling into a debt trap with Beijing in a not so distant time.

The Chinese presence in Iraq is not new. But Beijing has recently diversified and expanded its projects in this country that has suffered from wars and conflicts for more than forty years.

John Calabrese, director of the Middle East and Asia Project at the Middle East Institute, told AFP that "Iraq is in dire need of foreign investment, especially in the field of energy infrastructure."
Here, China found an opportunity.

The People's Republic needs to secure its energy needs, diversify its sources, and become the first importer of Iraqi oil. It alone imports 44 percent of Iraq's oil exports, according to the Prime Minister's advisor, Mazhar Salih, to the Iraqi News Agency.

In the field of energy, "the situation is active," says Chinese Ambassador Cui Wei in response to a question by AFP at a press conference. But he adds, "We are still in the stage of entering Iraq and cooperating with the Iraqi side, as well as with foreign companies operating in Iraq."

"In terms of the number and value of projects" in the energy field, Cui explains, "the Chinese side is still at the beginning stage."

John Calabrese believes that behind the clear commercial goals, "there also lies China's ambition to showcase its work, polish its image and deeply entrench itself in a country and region dominated by the West, especially the United States" for a long time.

"Belt and Road"

In 2019, Iraq became one of China's partners in the "Belt and Road" initiative, with the two countries signing an agreement in this regard.

The "Belt and Road" initiative aims to build marine and land infrastructure projects that better connect China with Asia, Europe and Africa.

But the West sees it as a tool to enhance China's influence in poor countries, denouncing in particular the fact that these projects have accumulated large debts on those countries. Westerners also suspect corruption and human rights abuses.

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry told AFP that "China is actively participating in the reconstruction of the Iraqi economy," stressing that Baghdad is an "important partner" in the "Belt and Road" initiative.
Within the framework of this initiative, Iraq "remained the third most important partner" of China in the energy sector "between 2013 and 2022."

For example, in the Maysan Governorate in southern Iraq, the Halfaya field is being developed with a consortium of companies led by the Chinese state-owned PetroChina, along with the French Total and Malaysia's Petronas, as the director of the Maysan Oil Company explained in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency.

As for trade exchange between the two countries, it is booming and amounted to $30 billion in 2020, the Iraqi News Agency quoted an official at the Chinese embassy as saying.

Given the importance of infrastructure reconstruction, many projects undertaken by China in this field fall within the framework of the agreement signed between the two countries in 2019 under the title "Reconstruction for Oil". Among these projects, a thousand schools and an airport in Nasiriyah.

In the city of Nasiriyah in southern Iraq, Power China is working on one of these schools. It is one of two Chinese companies implementing a project to build eight thousand schools in total in three phases, the first phase of which includes 1,000 schools in 15 Iraqi provinces.

Language lessons

These projects are financed by Iraq's sale of 100,000 barrels of oil per day to China, whose revenues are deposited in an account managed by the Central Bank of Iraq in China. These proceeds can only be used in projects carried out by Chinese companies exclusively in Iraq.

Chinese companies should also work with local Iraqi contracting companies "to provide manpower and raw materials," as explained to AFP, spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Haider Majid.
Yasar al-Maliki, an economist at the Middle East Economic Survey, considers that providing job opportunities for Iraqi labor is a "positive thing", but "there are rumors that the majority of Iraqi companies are politically connected, and are unknown, so there are fears of corruption."

Majeed said there were plans to also include "roads, bridges, railways, energy, oil and health projects" in the agreement.

But al-Maliki warns that "the Iraqi authorities use the agreement in useless projects, and end up with many debts, as is the case in many African countries."

China also attracts Iraqis who want to learn its language. From here, the Iraqi-Chinese Friendship Society established the only Chinese language institute in Iraq, with the exception of the Kurdistan region, less than a year ago.
On the study benches here are students wishing to complete their education in China, and merchants who import their goods from this country. As for the teacher, Sajjad Al-Qazzaz, 25, he learned the language during the six years he studied medicine in China.

"When I came back to Iraq from China, I found that many people want to learn Chinese," says Al-Qazzaz.
The majority of the students are traders like Laith Ahmed. "I own a company that imports electrical appliances from China," the man says.

He added, "I always go there and find it difficult to deal with the Chinese because most of them do not speak English, so I decided to learn Chinese to make it easier to communicate with them."   link

He pointed out that the current model of the global financial system, which was established by Washington, turned out to be "unusable in the conditions of the multipolar world, and in essence it has turned into a tool to achieve the political goals of one group of countries."

Bankin added that "it is clear that in the current circumstances the West intends to continue to exploit its privileged position, and we are pleased that many countries that follow the imposition of unprecedented and illegal sanctions against Russia, have begun to think about getting rid of the dollar in their foreign economic activities, for the purpose of ensuring its sovereignty."  LINK

Unstoppable Derivative Collapse To Destroy Currencies | Alasdair MacLeod

Liberty and Finance:  8-19-2022

Rising interest rates are creating a credit contraction that could lead to a systemic failure of the banking system, says Alasdair MacLeod, head of research at GoldMoney Inc.

The endgame? Amid a collapse in derivatives, the world's central banks will have to save the system through currency creation. The further expansion of the currency supply will eventually be currency destroying, MacLeod says.

DJ:  DID YOU KNOW?

Things that boggle the mind. As of march of 2022 there are close to one billion people worldwide that are at “famine” levels. Meaning close to starvation. Daily!!! What would it take to end world hunger?

The fact is, the cost might be less than you think. A study produced in Germany suggests that the cost of ending world hunger within ten years amounts to about $330 billion or $33 billion per year, spread between all the world’s countries. Yet for some reason the world doesn’t do it.

The things that our government and other world governments spend money on compared to the minimal cost to end global hunger, is what boggles the mind. When we talk about ending global hunger it’s not just sending these folks food, it’s establishing consistent and innovative agricultural programs to the affected areas that will make them self sufficient for future needs. Think about that. Get rid of just one dumb-ass costly fiscal policy in the U.S. (Out of hundreds) and the U.S alone could cover the entire cost. I don’t know of any taxpayer who wouldn’t get behind that. And think of our global reputation for doing it.

The 4 major causes of global hunger are Conflict, Climate Shock, Cost and the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Conflict being the biggest factor with 60% of the world’s hunger living in areas affected by war and violence. And what do we do? Instead of feeding people we build bigger war machines and fund other countries’ war machines. We feed the cause of the problem and not the people.

You can apply the same logic to all other basics of survival. Food, clothing, shelter and water. Instead of destroying we could be building. It would be relatively inexpensive to fix the problem and everyone knows it . Yet we don’t. Why?

One can only conclude, they want it this way. Greed, ego, and geopolitical manipulation of hunger to gain sympathy and public confidence in their positions. “Vote for me and I’ll feed you”.

So what is the fix? Can you say GCR/RV/Asset Redemption, GESARA / NESARA.

For those waiting for a personal windfall, step back and look at the bigger picture and the real motivation for the event. Maybe it will help you understand the constant delays and push-back from those who have been benefiting from the chaos. Their reign is about to end. It’s worth the wait !!!!

As long as one person believes. There is hope.  DJ

China’s Economic Collapse Just Got Worse

Graham Stephen:  8-21-2022

China is experiencing an economic downturn as they lower interest rates, spending decreases, and property values decline - here's what this means for everyone watching -

In response to slowing growth, a declining property market, and falling demand…China did the unthinkable, by LOWERING INTEREST RATES to help stimulate MORE growth, while - at the same time - pumping $60 BILLION DOLLARS into the financial system as a way to incentivize lending.

However, they maintain that “the government won’t roll out massive stimulus measures or flood the financial system with too much new money, and would instead aim for stable prices, and “a relatively good economic performance."

Now, in an ORDINARY MARKET, such a rate cut and injection of money would be seen as a BULLISH sign for the economy - but, in THIS case - it’s seen as a REALLY NEGATIVE signal, as yet another failing effort to keep the economy afloat just a little while longer.

In just the last few days, 5 state owned companies were removed from the US Market citing “high administrative burden and costs” as the reason for their decision - however, the timing happened to come just months after the SEC flagged those companies for failing to meet United State’s auditing standards - leading to the assumption that - maybe more businesses are about to follow.

After all, China responded by saying that “they are reluctant to let overseas regulators inspect local accounting firms due to national security concerns.” - and, with the clock ticking, either China must comply, or over $1 Trillion Dollars could be de-listed from our US-based markets.

Tishwash: Foreign exchange reserves in Iraq exceed $80 billion

Today, Sunday, the official Iraqi News Agency quoted the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank as saying that the country's foreign exchange reserves exceeded 80 billion dollars, and it is expected to reach 90 billion by the end of the year.

Ammar Khalaf added that the bank's gold reserves increased by 30 tons to record more than 131 tons in total.

The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ammar Hamad Khalaf, had said in previous statements to Al-Arabiya channel that the rise in oil prices would reflect positively on the country's foreign reserves.

Regarding inflation, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank said that the inflation rate is a global phenomenon, and in Iraq the inflation rate rose after the change in the official exchange rate at the end of 2020, and the repercussions of the Covid-19 crisis, the war of Russia and Ukraine and the food crisis, all of which affected Iraq because it is a major importer of foodstuffs.

Ammar Hamad Khalaf referred to the Central Bank of Iraq, which is trying to control the inflation rate by achieving stability in the exchange rate through direct intervention in the foreign exchange market. link

Ammar Hamad Khalaf referred to the Central Bank of Iraq, which is trying to control the inflation rate by achieving stability in the exchange rate through direct intervention in the foreign exchange market. link

Tishwash:  In percentages.. Representatives for and against the dissolution of Parliament

The leader in the coordination framework, Turki Jadaan Al-Atabi, confirmed today, Sunday, that 90 percent of the members of the House of .Representatives are against any path to dissolving the parliament Al-Otbi told (Baghdad Today), "There are facts in the Iraqi political scene that public opinion must realize that any changes in the state administration cannot proceed without a national consensus between the sects and components, and the ".constitution defines the mechanisms for these changes

He added, "Dissolving Parliament is not an easy decision, because without a road map for the next stage, it will lead us to dangerous slides in Iraq, stressing that through our direct reading with the deputies, it indicates that 90% of them are ".against any path to solve it at the present time He pointed out that "most forces realize that dissolving parliament and holding early ".elections must be preceded by the formation of a new government

Regarding the next stage, Al-Otbi explained that "there must be a national consensus for the next stage in terms of changing the election law and the commission, because part of the problems that are occurring now came because of the results of ".the recent elections and the negative indicators that we identified in advance   link

Tishwash:  The coordinating framework puts Al-Halbousi on a very hot boiler.. an emergency session or an urgent dismissal

An electronic platform on the social networking site Telegram transmitted what it called information from within the current political movement in Baghdad during the past hours, revealing that the forces of the coordination framework threatened to oust al-Halbousi from his position if he delays in calling the House of Representatives to reconvene.

The platform quoted by saying, "Information was received from the scenes of the political movement to resolve the crisis, revealing frantic movements of the coordination framework to persuade the rest of the political forces to resume the work of the Parliament, and to unveil different positions and strong intervention by the United Nations representative."

The sources confirm that an agreement was concluded during al-Amiri's tour that the national dialogue would precede the resumption of parliament's work, and that Massoud Barzani stipulated that the sessions be held in his official building in al-Khadra. In his last meeting, he went to dismiss Al-Halbousi in the event he refused to hold the session with a full quorum.

According to the information, the Azm alliance led by Muthanna al-Samarrai expressed insistence on the necessity of resuming the work of Parliament, and threatened in the event that the Shiite component failed to proceed with the political process, it would move towards the Sunni region, especially in light of its growing relationship with the forces of the Sunni reform movement led by Sheikh Sattam Abu Risha. .

The sources reveal a vision put forward in the corridors of the National Dialogue by the UN representative to go towards a four-way coalition to form the government, which includes the framework, the Kurds and the Sunnis, in addition to the “For the People” alliance, which includes the extension and the new generation..

The sources confirm that the framework pressures the Kurdistan Democratic Party to resolve the file The candidate for the presidency of the republic, and that he may set a deadline for that, and otherwise, he will go towards the renewal of President Barham Salih... As the sponsorship of the dialogue by the United Nations representative, Jenin Plasschaert, puts all Iraqi forces in front of an international responsibility, and he is worried about condemnation if they stand as an obstacle to the proposed solutions   link

The South Dakota Department of Labor claimed a small rancher was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to investigate him.

SD Govt agent:  I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them.

Rancher:  Well, there's my first hand who's been with me for 3 years.  I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board.

Then there's the mentally challenged worker.  He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here.  He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night so he can cope with life. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally.

SD Govt agent:  That's the guy I want to talk to...the mentally challenged one.

Rancher:  That would be me.

MZ:. It was a really good week last week and I feel really good about where we are at. Very positive news and I am still looking for the RV at any moment.

MZ: People are still in the streets of Iraq. What is going on in the streets is similar to what we are seeing in Zimbabwe. The market makers that are buy and selling currencies between different sources….In Iraq they do a lot of their day to day stuff in US dollars. That is now disappearing quickly. The spread is shrinking. This means the money changers in the streets are not making the big money they were making. Nobody wants to give up their dinar.

MZ: We see the same thing in Zimbabwe …We are seeing the same thing in all the countries that are moving to asset backed

MZ: in the streets of Iraq this morning- while we don’t have a new rate- It seems to be moving in that direction while the dinar becomes more valuable in comparison to the US dollar. But there is a lot of festive folks in the streets according to 3 of my sources over there this morning. They are expected to have open air meetings in the streets…They are literally pounding out their differences in front of everybody.

MZ: They are not behind closed doors in closed sessions. The push continues and they hope to have things sat within the coming days so they can execute their white paper economic reforms. That is the conversation in the Iraqi streets today. This is exciting in my book.

Member: what they are doing in the streets in Iraq we should be going here in the great USA and take NOTES!! They got it going on!!

MZ: Yes they do

Member: Kazimi and Sadar (sp) are trying to cooperate and that the people are supportive but are staying in the streets till they do!

Member: Jim Rickards is openly talking about possible WW 3 in the south pacific.

MZ: Jim Rickards who was a former financial advisor for president Trump is still openly talking about a reset to a gold backed currency. Rickerds is also the man who suggested people pick up the same currencies we all hold.

Member: Did Marks Iraqi contractors get paid with new rate yet?

Member: he said the contractors were very happy. meaning, they got what they wanted in their new contract! getting paid with the new rate. so, next time they get paid. they/us get rv. imo

Member: What kind of bonds does Mark talk about when he mentions bond holders?  Is it Zim bonds?

Mod: WHEN MARK TALKS ABOUT BONDS HE IS TALKING ABOUT HISTORICAL BONDS LIKE GERMAN BONDS.... ZIM IS A BEARER BOND NOTE.

Member: Any updates on the Tier 3 situation if they got paid or just appointments?

Member: so... Mark slipped in yesterday that many Tier 3 "crossed the finish line" and he got more confirmation of that. ... so, where would that put us? and how did that happen if Mr C hasn't put codes

MZ: some of the T3 groups have been funded but not released to the individuals in those groups is what I have been told by MANY sources.

Member: MARK.... last night you said you received some confirmations and now we're waiting for it to trickle down.....does that mean that tier 3 has been or is being PAID???

MZ: it appears they have started.

Member: Are we still looking at a month out?

MZ: Not based on what I hear from contractors in Iraq. I think much sooner. But, none of us know the exact timing.

Member: isnt Mr C putting in "codes" for nesara? not rv? or, is it both?

Member: I thought Mr. C ‘s codes were for the gold backed currency.

Member: when Mr. C puts in codes, that means Tier 4B will be getting notifications. That happens so the currency will be gold backed. Tier 4B will be last and that will be gold backed.

Member: Putting in the codes are not for tier 3 as they are paid out of other funds

Member: From my understanding Tier 3 can see what is in their account but it will still be fiat until codes are entered into the QFS.

Member: If Mr.C did get paid- would his NDA allow him to tell us?

MZ: We don’t think there will be any NDA for Mr. C because they won’t be able to keep it a secret. It doesn’t involve a rate. But there is a good chance that (as an example)   if he got paid this morning I might not be able to reach him for a day or two while they move on to pay us.

Member: So when are we going to see arrests of all the rates running our countries???

Member: I disagree with the drip, drip, drip of info… I say rip the dam bandaids off to wake up the sheeple!!!

Member: Let's face it we are at the point that the people that could be woken up have been. Now you have the one's awake and the one's that will never wake up. It does not matter what they do it is what it is

Member: They've always said that some will never wake up and will be lost.

Member: Still praying Nesara is real and very soon.

Member: We are in a jubilee year it ends September 24th of this year Haggai chapter 2

Member: Please let this happen now God, so many are suffering...

The financial advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, ruled out , on Saturday, the repetition of the Food Security Law, while stressing that its validity will expire at the end of this year.

Saleh said in a statement to the official agency, followed by "Nass" (August 20, 2022): "The law on emergency support for food security and development concerns the 2022 fiscal year exclusively, and by the end of this year on December 31, 2022, the law will expire completely."

He added that "the second case in which the law ends is the issuance of the Federal Budget Law for the year 2022 in these months, and this law expires and becomes an integral part of the Federal General Budget Law in the event of its expansion in 2022, and this matter depends on the status of Parliament and its ability to legislate."

Puddledpnw:  Traders Stare at Losses as Gold Coins Boost Zimbabwe Dollar

Not everyone is happy about the Zimbabwean dollar’s gains.

Black market traders have been left reeling as measures taken by authorities, including new gold coins, to support the embattled local currency dry up excess liquidity and erode arbitrage opportunities.

The gap between the official and parallel market rates has shrunk since the initiatives began in July. The exchange rate on the street for large transactions -- more than 1 million Zimbabwe dollars -- has rallied to Z$740 for a US dollar from as much as Z$950. For smaller deals, a greenback will cost Z$620 against Z$800 last month.

“Some traders are already out of business,” said Misheck Gore, a dealer who works in the central business district of Harare, the capital.

The local dollar officially trades at Z$494.98, according to the results of a weekly auction held Tuesday by the central bank.

Policies to boost the local currency such as suspending payments to government contractors and suppliers and a central bank benchmark rate of 200% have tightened money supply in the economy.

Strong take up of the gold coins helped ease demand for US dollars, allowing for a turnaround in a local currency that looked set to breach the Z$1,000 mark on the black market. More smaller-value coins are set for release in November, according to the central bank.

The central bank sold 4,475 gold coins, generating Z$3.7 billion by Aug. 10, of which 90% was paid in Zimbabwe dollars and the balance in foreign currency, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor John Mangudya said in a monetary policy statement released on Aug. 11.

Exchange-rate volatility on the parallel market is a major driver of price pressures in the southern African nation where inflation surged to 257% in July. A shortage of foreign currency via formal channels had forced businesses to turn to the parallel market.

The premium between the official and the street rate, which has more than halved since July, “should begin to fall in the range we see for the rest of Africa at circa 10%,” IH Securities, a Harare-based brokerage firm, said in a note to clients dated Aug. 12.

Tishwash:  Al-Hanana: There is no meeting between Al-Sadr and Al-Amiri except under conditions, one of which is a “live broadcast”

A source close to Al-Hanana, the residence of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, revealed that there has been no meeting so far between the latter and the leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi Al-Amiri.

The source explained to Shafak News Agency; He "has not yet met (Al-Amiri), who was authorized by the coordinating framework forces to negotiate with Al-Sadr, because the conditions set by Al-Sadr earlier as a condition for conducting the meeting have not been met, including withdrawing from the framework and denouncing the leaks of the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, in addition to the last condition that Al-Sadr set it after the meeting of the forces at one dialogue table that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi called for last week, and Al-Sadr missed it, and it was represented by a live broadcast of sessions of what was going on in the meeting and informing the Iraqis of what was going on.”

The source pointed out that "Al-Sadr is keen on the country's unity, security and stability, and his concern is focused on uprooting the corrupt and fighting corruption in all its forms.

The presidencies met with the leaders of the Iraqi national political forces at the invitation of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, last Wednesday; To discuss political developments in the country, in the presence of the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq.

The meeting led to a number of points agreed upon by the attendees, as follows:

1- The conferees expressed their commitment to the national constants, and to finding a solution to all crises through dialogue and adopting a spirit of brotherhood and synergy; In order to preserve the unity of Iraq, the security and stability of its people, the continuity of the constitutional democratic system to which everyone appeals, and the emphasis on giving priority to the supreme national interests, and showing a spirit of solidarity among the people of the one nation; to address the current political crisis.

2- The conferees indicated that resorting to the polls once again through early elections is not an exceptional event in the history of democratic experiences when political crises reach dead ends, and that national political forces resort to constitutional tracks in elections.

3- The conferees called on the brothers in the Sadrist movement to engage in the national dialogue, to put in place mechanisms for a comprehensive solution to serve the aspirations of the Iraqi people and achieve their goals.

4- The participants agreed on the continuation of the national dialogue; In order to develop a legal and constitutional road map to address the current crisis.

5- The conferees called for stopping all forms of field, media, or political escalation, stressing the need to protect state institutions and return to calm discussions away from provocations and provocations that would provoke strife. They appealed to the media and elites to support the path of national dialogue and social peace, to serve the interests of our people.

Yesterday, Thursday, Saleh Muhammad al-Iraqi, the so-called "minister of the leader" who is close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, sharply criticized the dialogue sponsored by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi for the three presidencies with the leaders of the political blocs to get out of the current crisis in the country.  link
