Samson: Masroor Barzani: We are looking forward to a comprehensive agreement with Baghdad that works for everyone's benefit

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, met today, Wednesday with the consuls, heads and members of the diplomatic missions accredited in the region.

During the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were highlighted.

The Prime Minister indicated that the new government's work program aims to carry out economic and administrative reforms, diversify the sources of the economy, and open the door for investment in various sectors and their development

The relationship with the federal government was also discussed at the meeting. In this regard, the Prime Minister said, "We look forward to reaching a comprehensive agreement with the federal government in Baghdad on all issues, in a way that serves the interests of the Kurdistan Region and all Iraqis."

The diplomatic delegation expressed its support for the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga forces in particular against the threats of ISIS terrorists, and the diplomats thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for hosting the displaced and refugees.

The Prime Minister and his deputy answered the interventions of a number of members of the diplomatic delegation. Congratulations were exchanged on the occasion of the coming of Christmas and New Year's Day.

MilitiaMan: I like congratulations!! Thereby, suggesting they agreed on things ahead of the holidays!! It says they talked about economic reforms and administrative reforms.. Well what could that all be about? HCL? Makes sense to be a possibility at this stage.

Take it a bit further even and think about administrative reforms.. To have and administrative reforms, is to administer them.

As in implementation of the economic reforms with administrative reforms a new!! Fairly sure if that is the case and congratulations is in order, they must have done something that was very satisfactory and timely.. imo - MM

Samson: America is ready to take an international decision regarding targeting Iraqi protesters and activists

The American State Department renewed its call to stop targeting protesters in Iraq, while expressing its readiness to mobilize international public opinion about the ongoing systematic killings targeting activists in the movement in Iraq.

"When people protest peacefully, we are convinced of the freedom of their self-determination," State Department spokeswoman Morgan Otagos said in a statement to the US-funded "Al Hurra" channel, stating that "countries should allow the protesters to express their opinion, they demand good government and transparency and we support All of these are in the countries of the world, including Iraq, because they want to hold governments accountable. "

"We want governments to undertake a reform process, to act in a responsible manner, and to be held accountable anywhere in the world," she said, adding, "We support peaceful protesters who are trying to improve their standard of living."

Regarding the killing of activists in Iraq, Otagos said: America cannot always guarantee the security of people completely, but we can work with the Europeans and with other democratic countries in the world by bringing them together in the United Nations and in international forums, and we call for accountability for these regimes that kill peaceful demonstrators, Saying: We will continue to push diplomatically in this field.

On Wednesday, the UN mission to Iraq, "UNAMI", said that militias targeted and kidnapped prominent activists in the Iraqi demonstrations. In its third report on the protests in Iraq, which it released yesterday, the mission said it had received credible information that demonstrators and prominent activists had been targeted and arrested by security forces and groups described as "militia."

"Credible information also indicates that security forces arrested people from his homes and their vehicles and held them in solitary confinement during the investigation, and their detention may have been on grounds of national security," the mission added.

On the basis of this information, the mission continued, "groups that have been described as" militia "have kidnapped at least five prominent activists and demonstrators in Baghdad and held them in solitary confinement in unofficial detention sites for several days while being interrogated."

The Finance Committee approved in the House of Representatives that Iraq will enter in 2020 a "temporary budget", due to the delay in its transmission by the current caretaker government due to a procedural legal problem, noting that this situation is similar to what happened in the past year before the formation of the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.

Committee member Dr. Ahmed Al-Saffar told Al-Sabah: “It was hoped that the budget will be sent to Parliament last Thursday, but we were surprised by the Prime Minister’s apology for sending it because there was no authority to send any draft law to Parliament, including the budget, because his government is now A caretaker government. ”He added,“

The House of Representatives inquired about that and it appeared that the Prime Minister could send important bills to the parliament in the first week of the caretaker government, stressing that ”the parliament in turn cannot read and discuss the budget and vote on it if it is sent during December The current.

A political analyst confirmed that the non-legislation of the election law for the parliament means "going to a transitional government."

Ahmed Al-Sharifi said, {For Furat News}, “The restoration of mechanisms for the peaceful transfer of power is stipulated in the laws of {elections, commission and parties}.” He added, "If the political system is unable to produce these laws to the level that rises to persuade the rational authority and then the Iraqi public opinion, then we will go towards a transitional government."

He explained that "the transitional government will undertake these tasks through a limited time limit, after which early elections will be held, and in which public opinion will be questioned (whoever you want)."

I ask you this question,,,how would you explain 1 to 1 in a simple fashion to people after saying the 3 zeros are lifted? Now remember many of these people may not even understand what an exchange rate is or does with lifting 3 zeros from it mathematically, .00084 lifting to .84 has to be explained with cash in hand what it will do and how they will use lower denoms.

They don't mean lower denoms have lower value,, they replace the higher ones, but it is key that they never said that the 25K note was no longer worth 25K and is worth 25,, they are saying the the 25K is worth way more if you pay close attention.

IT HAS NEVER BEEN SAID IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FASHION, AT ANY TIME the zeros on the end of the 25K note are worthless now. They are stating the inverse in a much different way. Think about that, it could have been said and explained very easily, but they have never done that for a reason. And even if they explained it easily to all that your money is going to multiply 1000 fold, the world would all buy in, yes!? They are vague for a reason people.

Interpretation would be key to what they mean with this statement in explaining it to their people. In essence, one could easily explain that a 25 note will now replace the 25K note as a way of paying for what the 25K note would purchase after the rate is changed and 3 zeros are lifted. Here you go,, use this now to buy what you used to with the 25K note, put that one in the bank for safe keeping! Have you ever heard the 25K notes are going to be shreaded or burned or destroyed for any reason? Why not?

But to take them out of circulation and off the streets, why even do that unless it was going to be worth a great sum and not safe to carry around??

They are saying to the people,,,,,your 25 note now buys what is could not in the past. In the past a 25 note was worth do dooooooo!

Now it has real value,, much value. They tell the people that they will replace the BUYING VALUE of a larger note with a smaller note because the 25 note is now worth something much more. And guess what, the 25K note is being protected and increased to what it is really worth!

You now have a 25 note in your hand instead of a 25K note to buy the same things. Your 25 note is now worth 1000 times more!

1 to 1 does not mean, (25 note):(25K note), it is in relation to 1 USD : 1 IQD ..... I can't express how many times they have told us,,, the IQD will increase in purchasing power. That has been consistent since the beginning of this.

And that my friends would not mater if its in country or out of country!! IMHO

Samson: Territory: Implementation of Article 140 of our first discussions with the new government

Khalid Shawani, Minister of the Kurdistan Region, said, for dialogue with the federal government, that the normalization of conditions in the (disputed) areas is one of the first priorities of our dialogues with the federal government.

Shawani said during a press conference today, that "the Kurdistan Regional Government attaches great importance to the normalization of conditions in these areas and the implementation of constitutional Article 140."

He added, "The Kurdistan Regional Government put forward its vision and project to implement Article 140 and normalize the conditions in those areas in front of the federal government," noting "the formation of a joint committee between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government to normalize the conditions in all these regions."

He continued: When resuming dialogue with the federal government or with any new government, the implementation of Article 140 and the normalization of conditions in the areas (disputed) will be among the priorities of our dialogue and our discussions.

My understanding is that there will be payments and as early as by the 15th of this month for those entitled.

Might ask oneself why they were not yet paid? At a program rate they should have been, imo.

Before you answer that, maybe another question is did one see the articles about the 2004-2017 budgets being completed and sorted? Did one notice that they said "to" 2018 and not through 2018.

Well, imo they haven't shown just yet the amended 2018 and 2019 budgets as of yet, as that would expose the 2020 budget with the mechanism we all await, imo.

I have been told to watch for early payments and electronically. Well, early payment is the 15th is it not?
I alos make notice of the Kurds paid the oil early too. Fascinating how things are seeming to come together now.

Salaries imo are effectively contracts while one is employed. Just as loans are contracts they require payments, etc.. Just as they mention above. Auto loans, cash advances even, projects and contracting!! Those are all things that are speaking of internationalism. Speaks of Article 8 imo..

So, aside from that we watch them pay the loans and salaries electronically, just as we are awaiting an announcement that a rate has changed to be fully compliant.

Don't for get that as of 12/01/2019 through the EOM ITB an others suspended loans and or contracts for to be prepared for a rate change, imo..

As noted in the FA (final article) thread the CBI is on record for saying they are looking to RAISE the VALUE (price) of the IQD.. Nothing less, no reverse split, etc., etc. imo.

So financial inclusion is and has been a goal of not only the IMF and World Bank, but the CBI as well and it is well established to do just that. Nothing suggests otherwise.

Delta posted this weekend an amazing find on the CBI site that is dated on 09/30/2019.. That article supports they are doing looking to raise the value of the IQD and they even mention LDs, imo in the Video.. ~ MM

TheSnod: It remains to be seen, but this is how this narrative should play out unless there is some international law/statute that gets involved In which, to date, we have seen no evidence.

In country, for example, Iraq will have to take their 25000 note at 1196 and trade it in for a 25 then the 25 will operate at 1-1 locally and internationally.

Out of Country, we are not required to change our 25000K note for a 25 to go to 1-1. We skip the 25 step. We are NOT involved in their RD of their RI. We are involved in the RV of the RI. That’s why I mentioned at the beginning of the post that there would likely have to be some provision made to force the 25000 note out of our hand before we exchange it at an international medium.

This is a strange/ wonderful situation because some of this currency has been allowed to slip out of the country making it a truly atypical currency reform.

In Iraq, it’s simply getting their IQD to work at the value of the dollar that was injected into the system early on to keep the whole thing from imploding.

Now, they reinsert their currency at the value that they are operating currently under the dollar, and start sifting the dollar back out. That’s all this is for them, and it’s just that simple if the IQD hadn’t been allowed out of the borders.

The only way they bypass turning their 25000k for a 25K at 1196 is possibly through a dual citizenship or some slick lawyer trust—If that is even possible.

How they benefit is their currency will gain in purchasing power again as it moves upward of 3 and probably over 4 in time, and the benefits of the international money that will come flooding in there, also the protection we bring to do business like this.

The place might turn into Dubai or more. Blessings

WeThereYet: The idea to get the three zeros off the street and into accounts and also wages into accounts is because when they flip the switch electronically the accounts and loans and debts will all loose the three zero's. Our hope is once this happens the physical notes, all the physical notes inside and out side will reflect the new rate. (trillions to billions electronically only) This is why they are at pains to remove as many three zero notes out of the hands of locals and out of circulation as possible. Simple electronic math is as W.S described ... a removal of three zero's electronically. IMO

Fuze: Try this on for size, this may explain it. Right now if an Iraqi citizen visits a local market with a 10,000 IQD note he can buy perhaps a loaf of bread and a "pint" of goat milk. With a new 10 dinar note after the Monetary reforms, he can buy a loaf of bread, dozen eggs, "half gallon" of milk and a package of meat. Imo

Harley1: Don’t forget...In country, a Dinar is a Dinar is a Dinar. The marketplace will be repriced according to the new small notes based on their value, and the larger notes will go away.

Just like here, a dollar is a dollar is a dollar, and our prices are reflective of its value, and we couldn’t care less what any other country can exchange their currency for against the dollar.

It doesn’t mean squat for what we pay for a loaf of bread (actually it does but individually as consumers we couldn’t care less what Europe or anybody else pays for the dollar).

We have a $10,000 USD but it’s not used at the consumer level but at the banking level. As we have been taught, the 25K notes will continue to be used at the banking level, not the consumer level.

Out of country, the exchange rate for the Dinar is a different ball game. It actually determines another country’s buying power inside that country. For us, we’re looking at it solely from an investment perspective as to what the 25K note will bring when exchanged for USD.

Rich4hyip: I agree with some of the comments, there will be only one official rate after the RI, no matter inside or outside Iraq border…..deleting zeros is a internal affair….., their own financial businese….nothing to do with us. We invested is the value xhange. in addition Iraqi citizens will have to use the new currency ….because its imperative…..the cash management law they would be giving a timeframe to exchange…..after that it would be invalid,……just like many other countrys did…..we had the similar thing before in China. As to sending dinar outside….i think there will be tight control on the border ports….not easy to do that…..but there might be leaks.

ChrisC:  Who cares about all the Christmas' before where we were lied to because it was NEVER going to happen while Obama was President.  Throw all the partisan BS aside and face the truth.  That sorry sack was NEVER going to see this fulfilled baby because he is playing for the other team, not ours.

Iobey777:  It does not matter to me about the value of the money *inside * Iraq! What matters to me from last night's CC is the FACT that FF Eddie said to Frank that the CBI and the Gov't were telling the citizens on TV that they were going to Open the 2020 budget on JAN 1!!! 

We must have a new rate before they open this budget! IMO!

Why? Because, we have been told through articles  and Walkingstick, that this budget is DIFFERENT from all the others! It holds a rider in it that will give the citizens what they are asking for, it will make them happy! Kurdistan has finally(after 16 years) reached an agreement on the HCL! Praise God!

They are happy! It appears the citizens are beginning to wake up and see that things are moving towards their favor since Trump came in with his teams to help! IDK if it will be before Christmas or if it will happen on December 30-31, but I am expecting to see the new and shiny rate by then! Like everyone else, I am praying for before Christmas!!

Either way, we are very close to seeing our blessing come forth..not only for us, but mostly for those poor citizens of Iraq! May God have mercy on them and deliver them from the darkness which has been holding them down for so long! Like someone said recently, IT. IS. TIME!

Mr. Harfax:  The following is strictly in my opinion…..

The change in narrative has begun. The release of the FISA report was not an end game play. It was a stepping stone as you can see by the objections from Durham and Barr. The time has come for them to carry this story forward.

What I think is truly interesting is how deep the swamp runs on BOTH sides. There is a reason why certain Senators are not pushing for Ukraine to be exposed as many parties are recipient to money laundered through these foreign office scams and like crabs in a bucket ALL will get pulled in.

I do somewhat fear for Daddy as he is a threat to this entire process and those involved will not be content to sit back and let their “institutes” or “foundations” lose out on valuable funding. How will they continue to live their existence without their constituents hard earned dollars? 

What's worse is that I fear party lines will prevent Joe Public from supporting the right thing do (i.e. clean this mess up) as we can see with the current impeachment.  IMO - this isn't a right vs left issue but rather a top vs bottom issue and those struggling on the bottom should want all this to end.

He added, that the use of metal categories and their descent for trading gives a notional value of the currency, noting that a number of neighboring countries exchange rates are very high against the dollar and yet we find that it has a coin in order to preserve the currency and not need to request more banknotes, especially those with small categories. He expressed surprise at the policy of the Central Bank, which does not favor the introduction of coins for circulation in the Iraqi market.

For his part, a member of Parliamentary Finance Majid al-Waeli readiness of the Committee to prepare any legislation required by the Central Bank, which could benefit the economy and the Iraqi market, including the circulation of coins.

Al-Waeli told Al-Sabah that the committee respects the independence of the central bank and its monetary policy, stressing that the bank has technical autonomy by decision regardless of administrative affairs.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has set, on Sunday, the 15th of this December a date for disbursing the accumulated salaries of full-time appointees for the past three years.

The Minister of Labor, Basem Abd Al-Zaman, said in a statement that the official Al-Sabah newspaper reported to him and learned about it / the information: that his ministry has set the 15th of the current month of December as the date for the disbursement of accumulated salaries to beneficiaries with disabilities for the past three years: 2016, 2017 and 2018 in Baghdad and the provinces of the country and through the (Master Card) card.”

Abdel-Zaman added that his ministry is “working to advance this segment and provide the best services to it in order to improve their social and living reality, which will make them active actors in society.” He called on the beneficiaries to “review the exchange outlets in order to receive their dues starting from the middle of this month.”

Abdul-Zaman pointed to "continuous coordination with the relevant authorities in order to obtain the sums for the disbursement of their dues, especially after intensifying efforts to serve the handicapped and those with needs in order to meet their needs." F26: Yeah I like that……It can be any day….but in my opinion…..I pay attention to a Saturday into a Sunday. But I would look more into a Sunday to a Monday .

IMO a Sat into a Sun is more internally. The things they are doing inside their country.

For example, what happened today with the CBI……and their website.

IMO A Sunday into a Monday is more externally…..On Sundays Banks across the world are normally closed.  But, on Monday the rest of the world internationally catches up with the Iraqi banks.

That is why I look at that time frame but it could be anyday.

I asked myself this question today: Frank why did the CBI website shut down early this morning? This was in  a Saturday into a Sunday time frame, and it attracted my attention.

What are the 2 things I told you my teams were looking for? 1: Iran throwing a tantrum and 2: the CBI to talk.

I believe the CBI talked through their website today. I’d like to point out some things on their shutdown this morning.

It occurred at 9:30 AM est today …which was 5:30 PM Baghdad time ….the CBI website was simply shut down.

I’m not going to blow this up or exaggerate what happened with the CBI today. Their website is for the purpose of communicating, teaching ,telling and describing. .  

What is the CBI doing right now? A monetary reform and a reinstatement of their currency.

So, the thing that I found interesting is 1): when it occurred…a Saturday into a Sunday.

2): They were shut down for a loooong time….6 and ½-almost 7 hours.  Have you ever seen it shut down that long before?   They shut down communication with the international community and outside world. ..I think the longest we have seen it shut down previously was under 3 hours.

Did you know that 70% of the 3 zero notes have been collected in Iraq?  That’s a lot of work if they aren’t going to raise the value of their currency …imo

What do I say about patterns?  If they break a pattern- it means something and it draws my attention.

IMO The CBI is doing maintenence on their website. . and we have seen different numbers show up on currency counter sites… This has happened about 4 times in the last 2 years of our studies over the last 14 years

IMO they did something in those 7 hours….relating to their monetary reform.

It wasn’t a glitch. So, whatever they are doing must be for a purpose. What we saw today was not a mistake….in fact it was so loud it screamed.

I asked my teams: “What kind of work are they doing?”  Find out

IMO …what we are looking for is any differences on the CBI website. Scan every page…are there any new pages?  Are there any new numbers? Any new words, any new pictures?

Delta is looking at it very closely. We are looking for anything new after VP Pence arrived in Iraq.

What did Pence do? IMO…….He gave orders and because of the rider activated in the budget by Pence IMO. …which is causing a domino effect with other things.

On the CBI website its going to say the rate is 1190…but then its going to have a comma, with 3 zeros. Understand that the comma is actually a dot.  In Arabic the comma is a dot.

So to me a 7 hour shutdown means there is work being done ,,,and my teams are tearing it apart right now in English and Arabic.

Q: Frank could this be the first Nothing, Nothing, Nothing and then Suddenly?  (From Kim Clement prophecy)

F26:  My opinion on Nothing, Nothing, Nothing and then Suddenly is : The CBI along with the banks have to do recalculations, and testing of the exchange rate. And they tested it with many different multiple exchange rates. IMO everytime they did this they came very close to reinstating their currency.

One time is when the former US President decided to pull our troops out and let Isis and the Taliban destroy all the work we had dqne since 2003

The second time is just last year around this same time . ….I guess “Daddy” (Trump) didn’t think they were stable enough and they shut it down. . And it was because of Maliki.

Now this last year they have been removing terrorism from the streets of Iraq. Securing the borders…cleaning up corruption.

Those are 3 nothings and I think we are about to see a “Suddenly”

An informed source said, today, Saturday, that the American President's envoy for coalition affairs against ISIS and the Syrian file, James Jeffrey, will visit the Kurdistan Region and the federal capital, Baghdad, with the aim of meeting with a number of senior officials in the region.

On Saturday, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker threatened to take sanctions against Iraqi government officials and military leaders if they were found to be involved in "violations" against the demonstrators.

"This process is ongoing and these designations do not favor future announcements," the US State Department website quoted in an interview with its translation, "The Information," with Schenker as saying, in response to the latest sanctions.

"We will appoint more (more names) in the future, but I cannot comment on that at this time," he added.

In response to a question, does that mean that sufficient evidence has not been collected against a (Iraqi) government official? Schenker answered by saying, "I cannot say which (official) we are working on or working for, but a warning was issued to them saying: Yes, if you flagrantly violate human rights and if you commit acts of violence against demonstrators, regardless of whether you are in the government or outside The government, you are in danger of being named (definitely on the sanctions list).”

In response to a question whether the United States bears some blame for the current situation in Iraq and the desire for a new constitution, Schenker said, “We tried to work with who we could work with at that time. Activists told Shafak News that, "In response to the massacre by the party militia against the protesters in al-Khilani Square and Al-Sinak Bridge last night, a general strike will be called and the permanence will be suspended in denunciation of what happened."

The activists called on "everyone from school students, professors and employees to activate their national role and not work tomorrow, and participate in the angry demonstration that will start tomorrow, Sunday, at eight in the morning, in protest against the actions of the parties towards the demonstrators."

It is noteworthy that 10 of the demonstrators were killed and dozens wounded, yesterday night, by unidentified gunmen in the areas of Al-Khilani Square and Al-Senak Bridge near Al-Tahrir Square in the center of the capital, Baghdad.

He added that "Iraq borrowed 62 billion dollars and part of it has nothing to do with the Kurdistan region." He pointed out that the region will provide Baghdad with information about the debt of the Kurdistan region, noting that the debt of the region will be installed in the financial budget for next year. Rahim said there was an understanding between Arbil and Baghdad about the debt.

MilitiaMan:  The calm on the streets has a great feel today. The recent actions of the suspension of loans is powerful. All loans and many contracts have to deal with payments.

Think about it. Every car loan, house loan, private loan, commercial and even industrial loans have to be adjusted accordingly when a rate is expected to change. 

The citizens in mass will know that. Sistani was telling the public yesterday that he was in support of their demonstrations if peaceful and voila, today we see that to be the case.

So, when they say all banks are involved that means they are ready now. Banks are closed in Baghdad long time ago now.

They have said they were having a Parliament session tonight in regard to the budget.. So, I feel good that this one killer window!! imo ~ MM

Samson:  Finance of Kurdistan announces the start of the distribution of September salaries next week

The Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced today, Thursday, the start of distributing the salaries of the region's employees as of next week.

A source in the ministry said that next Sunday 8/12/2019 will witness the beginning of the distribution of the salaries of the month of September 2019 to the office of the Ministry of Peshmerga and the brigades affiliated to the ministry.

The source added that the distribution process will continue after that according to the schedule set for all government departments and institutions.    LINK

MilitiaMan:  A little behind are they not? Or are they hiding something to come next week.

We know salaries are going to be more and more electronic. As are the new small category notes that they banks have sitting in their respective vaults. Like the ones they mentioned yesterday from back to 2010 specifications. I find that brought forward the data from the CBI as it is relevant now, as they specifications will be required for security purposes.. Why?

Imo a rate change warrants it.. Just as the suspension of the loans for the month suggest's a change is coming to keep things on a level playing field.

So payments, will need to be sorted as well. If they are behind in payments? Then they'll need to knock them out and quickly.

I suspect since the Kurds showed and are happy from what I see anyway. The dates may be a squirrel.. They have a schedule. Schedules have dates and times..

They say they will continue next week.. I am liking this. Future new salaries are the goal electronically. Just as the new notes based on a % will be too..

MilitiaMan: The price of the dollar may change to the Dinar is right, imo.. We are told that not only the TBI suspended loans, all banks may have. Apparently they sure have.. imo  A rate is expected to change prior to salaries, contracts, etc, and most will need to be electronically done, whereby, those that are not yet opened an account will get NSCNs, thus, they will need to be adjusted or paid accordingly. Don't forget that the CBI warned on the CBI site that is was coming.. Wow.. They meant it.. imo ~ MM

Resigned Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi confirmed , on Wednesday, that the Council of Ministers will send the Parliament the final accounts from 2013 to date.

Abdul Mahdi said during the meeting of the Council of Ministers and followed by the agency / information /, "The Council of Ministers will send the final accounts of the House of Representatives in the coming days," noting that "the accounts will include the final accounts since 2013 until this year."

This came during the 23rd meeting of the National Committee for the Facilitation of Transport and Trade in the ESCWA region, which was held in the presence of Undersecretaries of the ministries and heads of private sector unions and members of the Committee at the headquarters of the Ministry.

The committee discussed the topics on the agenda, which included six chapters, including statistics and data of foreign trade for Iraq, the accumulation of containers and goods in Iraqi ports, the activation of river transport and mass transit and other issues related to the problems and obstacles facing transport and trade and the Ministry of Health and the city of Baghdad.

The minister continued, `` After the clear demand for Iraq's ports, because of its strategic importance in activating trade between neighboring countries, it is necessary to create storage yards (logistics cities) allocated for the storage, examination and delimitation of goods in order to evacuate the docks of ports and allocate them to the work of ports exclusively to encourage merchants and do not accumulate goods in the port. ''

The activity of commercial traffic in the ports of Basra is the interest of the majority of foreign investment companies, amid efforts to restore this city to its position as a major commercial center in the Gulf region, while showing the need to accelerate the implementation of simplified customs clearance to facilitate the entry of materials and goods needed by Iraq in the reconstruction Infrastructure.

The minister called for "activating the electronic systems (electronic attachment) in tracking trucks between border outlets and customs warehouses in a way that ensures their access to their specific destinations," pointing out "the importance of activating river transport in the capital Baghdad and all governorates as an advanced civilization process."

He pointed to the need to "activate mass transport to alleviate the traffic momentum in the streets," calling for overcoming obstacles and obstacles to work and cooperation between the concerned authorities to facilitate the wheel of progress and catch up with developed countries.

For their part, the participants expressed their satisfaction with the serious measures taken by the National Committee of ESCWA at close times and the continuous follow-up of all details periodically and in coordination with all concerned to come up with recommendations to develop and serve the reality of transport and trade in Iraq.

In turn, stressed economic researcher Shaima Abdul Rasul that the facilitation of work procedures in ports would encourage foreign companies invested to come more to Iraq. In an interview with Al-Sabah, Al-Sabah said that "the procedures under which the ports are operating, despite the adoption of customs tariffs, do not live up to international standards of work.

"Local merchants and international companies entering Iraq are seeking customs clearance facilities in ports, but the procedures followed delay the process of speeding up the entry of materials needed by investors in the implementation of their projects," she said, pointing out that "access to customs facilities would maximize efficiency Capabilities to a world-class level, along with providing speed and reliability for the operation of Iraqi ports. " 

Basra has five commercial ports and two oil ports. The first is Al-Ma'qal, the mother port that was established in 1916 and the Al-Fao port, which was established in the same year. In the early 1970s, the port of Umm Qasr was built.
