1. Iraq PM Mahdi submits his resignation to parl't, whenever it next meets, and parl't puts it on hold until the political class can decide what it wants to do, & vote no confidence in a few weeks or months.
2) Parliament votes no confidence immediately. If so, then President Salih has 30 days to pick a new prime minister-designate and Mahdi stays on as caretaker PM for that month.
3) Parliament accepts Mahdi's resignation, the PM's office becomes vacant, and President Salih becomes PM according to the constitution.

Popeye7: Boy they sure are happening quickly... Mahdi became weak under pressure, and after signing all of the agreements for economic progress within Iraq during the earlier portion of this year, buckled to the pressure...
What is puzzling to me is why all of the agreements signed off by Mahdi on if there was no intention to release the Iraqi dinar internationally?... Remember Mahdi's trip to China?...
Anyway, there are things that go on behind the scenes we do not understand... Despite all of the violence, and protests, Iraq's currency remained stable, and the Kurd's were still willing to progress forward with the HCL... And yet they were willing to work with Mahdi as well, and not with Abadi, or Maliki... This is why I cannot help but think that Mahdi was a willing participant in all of this...
The reason?.. To draw out the Iranian influence that permeated the Iraqi government... To show the people of Iraq who were truly the corrupt ones... Remember the words of former US President FDR as he was quoted as saying, "In politics, nothing happens by accident. If something happens, you can bet it was planned that way."
Mahdi could have been the hero in all of this, but maybe just maybe it was not a part of the plan... And the now former PM may have understood this from the beginning... Remember also family, he was only supposed to be PM for a year... It has been a little over that time frame, and now the mission has been accomplished... All IMO, but again, in all that has occurred, many things do not add up...
Sad, that many had to lose their lives in order for the Iranian stronghold to be broken within Iraq... But during times of revolution, and when dramatic change is necessary within a government, bloodshed occurs...
As it stands within this particular revolution, the Iraqi people will stand united with one another... That is not always the case within these types of situations... This is the way of the world we live in... Now as it stands, Saleh will be the one who receives the glory for ushering in a new day within Iraq...
As others have stated now PM Saleh met with President Trump about a month ago... Curious?... As Frank pointed out time, and time again, this could not fail... And as stable as the dinar remained during all of this, the powers that be were in control the whole time to ensure its success.. Again, all IMO...

Governor Adel al-Dakhili said in a Facebook post that he had decided to suspend official working hours on Wednesday and Thursday in order to preserve civil peace.
In all of Iraq, more than 340 people have been killed since the protests began on October 1, when thousands of Iraqis, mostly young men, took to the streets to denounce corruption and poor services and demand the overthrow of the political elite. LINK

Dhi Qar Governor Adel al-Dukhaili issued a directive to bank employees on Wednesday.
The Governor's Information Office said in a statement that "Dakhili was directed to exclude bank employees from public holidays." "This is to complete the distribution of staff salaries," he said.

Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said that the explosion of the biggest gasoline depot in one of the country's cities failed during the recent demonstrations, pointing to the burning of 731 banks, 140 public places, 9 religious centers, 70 gas stations and 34 ambulances.

The process of scrapping old dinars and deleting zeros from Iraq’s currency to replace it with more manageable numbers could cost the country billions, according to Ahmed Faizullah, the deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Finance Committee.
Redenominating is up to Iraq’s central bank, but it would cause chaos for government by redenominating after it has set an annual budget in the existing denomination.
That’s why no redenomination will take place in 2013 and maybe 2014 as well.
Removing zeroes makes it easier print money, read it and add it up, and reduces the need to cart around too many notes to pay for goods and services in a country that relies almost wholly on cash. Iraq puts just 1% of all its transactions on credit card.
Although cutting zeros adds to costs and confusion, Faizullah says: “It is basically the process of currency switching and common people will take some time to get used to it. That is all.”

Twilight News / The Central Bank of Iraq, on Tuesday, the opening of a branch of Sulaimaniya of the bank pending an official request to the Kurdistan Regional Government, while a number of Kurdish deputies asked the government of the region in this regard.
A statement by the deputies Ahmed Haji Rashid, Shiroan Mirza and Hoshyar Abdullah, Kurdish members of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, where they pointed out that the committee hosted on Tuesday the Governor of the Central Bank of the relationship, and held talks with him on a number of problems and obstacles in Iraqi monetary policy.

Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region have reached an agreement and the delegation of the region will visit Baghdad next week to participate in the committee, which is the final draft of the draft budget law 2020.
Hussein told reporters today that "part of the talks for the agreement between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad has to do with the region's share in the draft budget for the year 2020, especially the issue of revenues and expenditures of the region." He added that the meeting between the province and Baghdad, the first of particular importance to the question of oil province delivery, "adding that" the two sides have reached an agreement that recognizes the Kurdistan region a day of 250 thousand barrels per day to SOMO."
Said Minister of Finance, said that "the delegation of the Kurdistan region will visit on Next Sunday again to Baghdad, where a special committee was formed to draft a draft law on the general budget, including a representative of the region and the committee will prepare on Sunday and Monday next draft final budget law 2020 and then sent to Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, who in turn will send it to the House of Representatives for ratification.

Samson: Barzani announces a third visit to the delegation of the Kurdistan region to Baghdad next week

The head of the Kurdistan region, Nechirvan Barzani, said on Tuesday that the delegation of the regional government will hold a third visit to Baghdad next week in order to reach an agreement on oil exports and the federal budget.
This came in a press conference held after he put a crown of flowers on the grave of former Iraqi President and Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Jalal Talabani in Sulaimaniyah.
Barzani said during the conference that "the relations of the Kurdistan region and Baghdad very good," adding that "the delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government made two visits to Baghdad, and will visit again next week in order to reach an agreement on the issue of oil exports and the general budget."

Samson: Iraq holds talks with Iran and Kuwait on joint oil fields

The Oil Ministry confirmed on Tuesday the continuation of talks with Iran and Kuwait on the joint fields, while disclosing a great way forward with them to develop and invest these fields.
The senior undersecretary of the ministry Fayyad Nehmeh Hassan said in a statement reported by the official newspaper "morning" and saw it (information), that "Iraq has opened over the past few years, channels of dialogue with Kuwait and Iran to develop and invest common fields and cross-border with these countries, as there are many with Iran, like it with Kuwait, like the southern Rumaila and Zubair fields.
Hassan said, "The joint delegations of specialists in Iraq and the two countries, meet from time to time to activate the investment operations."
Hassan pointed to "the continuation of discussions in this aspect as there is an understanding to develop these fields by the two countries to reach a joint production is in accordance with international standards," stressing that "the talks have come a long way in the process of appointing an international consultant."
The Iraq and Kuwait had concluded a joint contract early last August with an international company to prepare special studies to invest optimal joint fields of border between the Butterball, as the contract provides for the company to prepare a technical and reservoir studies for the fields of border - producing joint which fields ( the Dome of Safwan -aelaidla), and ( Southern Rumaila - Rattaka - Al - Ritqa field), as a prelude to organizing, exploiting and investing in a way that guarantees the right of each party to it in addition to signing an agreement with the Iranian side in this regard. The Finance Committee, chaired by MP Haitham al-Jubouri, and its members attended on Monday 25/11/2019 a meeting at which the Federal Civil Service Law was discussed and a new formula for the salary of state employees was sent and sent to the government.
According to the meeting, the preparation of a new salary scale for state employees ensures social justice and eliminates the large differences between salaries as well as it is a major demand of the demonstrators to be achieved.
On the other hand, Chairman of the Finance Committee Haitham al-Jubouri stressed the need to maximize non-oil revenues such as taxes and full control over border ports and customs to supplement the state investment budget to complete the lagging projects and initiate other important projects such as hospitals and schools.

The regional minister for talks between Erbil and Baghdad Khalid Shwani on the agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government on the budget next year 2020 in the framework of a comprehensive agreement with Baghdad.
Shwani said in a press interview that "the delegation of the region, which is visiting Baghdad, headed by the Minister of Finance and Economy in the government of the least Monday with the two deputy prime ministers for energy, finance, and oil and planning ministers in the federal government."

Mr.Harfax: The following is strictly in my opinion…
As a Non American Expat one of the intriguing aspects of our study is the fascinating game of political chess that we are witnessing. Despite seeking out alternative sources of media I will admit there were times when I became narrowly focused on the Iraqi piece of the puzzle but experience and Frank’s gentle reminders has taught me to look further. There is reason for discussion on topics like the impeachment, Ukraine, Iran,etc.
The impeachment, imo, goes beyond the current spectacle. It has served as a gateway to discussion on Ukraine and deeds of former leadership. Coincidentally we are now seeing Ukrainian members of parliament demand an investigation into former ex-President Yanukovych and ties to an American Political Party and a wealthy foundation.
There is reason for isolation in Iran as it too was tied to former leadership in the US. Recent releases have coincidentally shown Iran’s ties to disruption to the middle east and once again ties to an American Political Party.
This multi-step process, imo, isn’t just about a soon to be released blessing. This game is setting up future leadership/strategy by greatly weakening an opponent. It is why I am keen to see the release of the FISA report. I truly believe the blessing will not arrive until Trump’s opponent is where his strategy intends to take them and while I’d love for the pace to pick up I must admit this is a fascinating story to behold.

Lebanon is facing its worst economic crisis since the civil war, following a wave of protests against the ruling elite on October 17 that led to the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri on October 29. Since they reopened, banks have been trying to avoid capital flight by preventing most cash transfers abroad and restricting foreign currency withdrawals, although the Central Bank of Lebanon has not announced any formal capital restrictions.
