Sheila Before my banking source cut me off about three weeks ago (?), they suggested I hold back currency after RV, deposit in MCA and get the bank to "loan" against the currency. Been thinking about this and cannot talk to them right now. Anyone else think this is good idea?
Doug_W sheila MCA?
Sheila Multi-Currency Account
Doug_W never heard of it who has such an animal?
Sheila Researched MCA's. See them on bank sites like HSBC, Bank of Brazil, etc. For a while, saw it listed on WF. Anyone? banks in Miami, NY, LA, Seattle, San Francisco,,,etc.
Doug_W ty I guess that terminology if out of my league
Sheila Doug_W mine, too. That's why I am asking the chat to seek help
Doug_W what would be the advantage of that over a simple currency exchange at any bank?U give them ur currency they "DeLarue" it and give U credit in a bank aacct in USD? thats simple and straight forward
Doug_W U give them ur currency they "DeLarue" it and give U credit in a bank aacct in USD?
Doug_W thats simple and straight forward
Sheila Doug_W my basic understanding is whatever currency you hold, then deposit stays in bank account as that currency, until otherwise exchanged into in any other currency, including USD. Wondering about doing this and getting loan against MCA? Wish I could talk to banker.
Doug_W U do a currency exchange into USD and quit worrying about all that complex stuff
Sheila Doug_W Researching, learning is NOT "worrying".
Doug_W ur only thing then is negotiating the "Spread"
Sheila Spread and Banks Fees?
Doug_W ok poor choice of words on my part quit concerning yourself with it
Doug_W what bank fees its the spread U have to be concerned with once its into USD there are no "bank fees"
Doug_W question 4 U, Have you never done anyn kind of currency exchange?
Sheila Doug_W it's been widely stated that banks are going to try to extract 1% or 2% for these Currency Transactions.
Sheila Doug_W Many times. Most thru Travelex.
Doug_W ok then if the spread is ONLY 2% your lucky go to a bank not a middle man so to speak but this is all for naught until it has some value to be able to do as currency exchange
Sheila Doug_W As I stated, Spread, in addition to Banks trying to extract their pound of flesh... greedy b*st*rdos.
Doug_W their pound of flesh IS the spread
Sheila Doug_W Thought Spread was determined by Treasury?
Doug_W nooo that is why its negotable banks set spread like I said you seem to be bothered by this thus "worried" its a very simple thing contrary to what gurus would have U believe
Sheila Doug_W So asking questions, CHATTING back and forth " is "worried" to you.
Sheila Doug_W So if I were a man asking these questions, would you also tell me I was being "worried" or "worrying"?
Doug_W don't be like that I am only trying to help you not throw stones
Sheila Doug_W Don't generally take that stance, YET this is a chat room. So if we shouldn't ask questions you consider "worrying", me oh my what will I do? LOLOL
Doug_W relax :)
Sandyf @Doug_W what would be the advantage of that over a simple currency exchange at any bank? - MCA can be very useful if needed. Been discussed in dinarland for many years but mainly a lot of garbage.
The main banks that do them are normally restricted to a handful of the major currencies and have a large minimum deposit, so no good for exotics. We had one with a Chinese bank for many years, would deposit Yuan here in Thailand and my niece could draw it out by ATM when at uni in China.
There is a relatively new bank called Wise, formerly Transferwise, that operate an MCA and I believe available in the US. They deal in about 70 currencies I think and have no minimum deposit, I have GBP,USD,EUR and Thai baht in my account
butterfly I learned a very long time ago......do not worry about what might happen BECAUSE everything changes on a dime. I hope I am wrong, but we are way off from enjoying our investment in the dinar.
