Today, saturday, the political and popular circles in  iraq are anticipating the demonstrations of the sadrist movement in conjunction with news of the intention of the “coordinating framework” to hold a session of the iraqi council of representatives to choose its candidate, muhammad shia’a al-sawadni for prime minister, after calling on the kurds to nominate their candidate for the presidency.

The iraqi capital witnessed security tension after tahrir square and al-sinak bridge witnessed massive demonstrations, one of them in support of the formation of the government and the second against its formation for the supporters  of the sadrist movement .

The  security forces  opened the roads leading to the bridges in central baghdad, after massive demonstrations by supporters of the sadrist movement and the "coordinating framework" separately.

The general official of the “peace brigades” abu mustafa al-hamidawi, and one of the assistants of the leader of the sadrist movement muqtada al-sadr, awn al-nabi, was present in tahrir square in the center of the capital.

And the sadrist media published a picture of the aforementioned while they were in tahrir square.

There is no parliament session

At the same time, the parliamentary legal committee confirmed that there will be no session of the house of representatives today, saturday, while setting a condition for the parliament to return to session.

The head of the legal committee, mohamed anouz, said in a press statement that "10 months have passed since the electoral process, and there are still political overlaps regarding the file of government formation, and we are waiting for the results of the current negotiations."

He added, "there is paralysis that has affected the parliament's sessions as well because of the political situation, as we are supposed to witness 8 sessions per month, while the total of its sessions in this legislative session did not exceed 12 since its first session last january."

The framework intends to conquer the sadrist movement

Meanwhile, the leader in the "coordination framework", rafiq al-salihi, confirmed the impossibility of changing his candidate, muhammad shia' al-sudani with another candidate, indicating that despite the demonstrations, the framework will continue to support al-sudani.

Al-salihi said in a press statement, "the framework cannot change its candidate for prime minister because it was unanimously agreed upon by the framework forces and with the support of most of the political blocs of sunnis and kurds."

He continued, "the framework will proceed with its candidate despite what happened from the sadrist movement's demonstrations and their rejection of the candidate whose efficiency and integrity are witnessed by everyone."

He added, "the framework is waiting for the kurds to agree on one candidate to pass the presidents of the republic and the ministers during the next week."

In turn, a member of the al-fateh alliance, ali al-fatlawi, said in a press statement, "the cabinet of the expected government of muhammad shia al-sudani, all political parties will participate in it, and no political party will be marginalized."

He added that "the framework intends to approach the sadrist movement if it wishes to present candidates for some positions," noting that "the expected government of muhammad shiaa al-sudani, will be a service government working to solve the crises that the iraqi people have suffered over the past years, foremost of which is the file of services, electricity and health." as well as preserving the sovereignty of iraq in a true manner in a way that preserves the prestige of iraq and the iraqis.
