The Central Bank Launches The {Scorecard} Project

Saleh said, during his speech on the files of administrative and financial corruption in Iraq, that the draft law seeks to recover smuggled funds through work mechanisms and procedures based on concluding agreements with countries, strengthening cooperation with specialized international organizations and bodies, and benefiting from successful global experiences to curb this phenomenon.

His Excellency pointed out that cross-border corruption has cost Iraq huge sums of money estimated in billions, and governmental and international statistics and data estimate that the total of Iraq's oil imports since 2003 are close to a thousand billion dollars, including at least 150 billion dollars of corruption deals that have been smuggled abroad, And it was enough to put the country in a better condition.

President Barham Salih called for the formation of an international coalition to fight corruption similar to the international coalition against ISIS, stressing the impossibility of eliminating terrorism except by draining the sources of its financing based on corruption money as a political economy of violence, stressing that corruption and terrorism are interlinked and mutually exclusive.

The President of the Republic said that the phenomenon of corruption disrupts the will of the people, and because of it, the masses of demonstrators came out demanding a homeland, a country free of corruption, calling for official institutions and social activities to take a serious stand to confront this dangerous scourge.
