In partnership with the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), Refinitiv is rolling out an awareness program to promote FX global best practices in Iraq.
As part of the collaboration with the CBI, Refinitiv organised a specialised workshop hosting 19 Iraqi banks in Beirut, Lebanon. The workshop covered a wide variety of FX themes aimed at enhancing the practice, upgrading the technology tools, and cementing Interbank collaboration within the Iraqi financial and banking community.

Samson: KRG to Dispatch Delegation to Baghdad for Budget, Census Talks

A high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will visit Baghdad next Tuesday, KRG envoy in the Iraqi capital said.
Speaking to BasNews, Faris Isa said the delegation will meet with the Iraqi counterparts to discuss Erbil concerns over 2020’s budget bill and the planned nationwide census.
The delegation will include Omed Sabah, head of Divan at KRG’s Council of Ministers, Khalid Shwani, Minister of State, and Dara Rashid, Minister of Planning. LINK

Jay: This is UUUUUUUUUGE imo. Mahdi is going down the list of demands from the people. Look at the list from Deltas post from yesterday. The Supreme council, Mahdi sacking 1000 employees is like the first 3 or demands on the Protesters list. What number 4 & 5 you might ask????
4. Really support the private sector, protect the domestic product to eliminate unemployment, move the local economy, maintain foreign currency within the country and open the door for real domestic and foreign investments
5 - Cancellation of the currency auction and the adoption of free market policy.

This is a great opportunity IMO........Not to say it will happen but the Stage is set.....
Frank, I technically disagree that they will not announce on a Friday......I believe Kuwait announced on a Friday......Of course, as of Sunset, the Holy Day is over.......I believe, as I always have purported, on a Friday after Sunset is the best time to announce absent a specific Holiday....
.I cannot believe that announcements will take place on a Sunday. There would be mass confusion. The announcements have to give adequate Notice prior to business opening. Considering Saturday is a big market day, a Friday evening seems like the likely target.(unless thee is an associated Holiday of course)
As to the 12 armored trucks moving currency out of the Green Zone to protect it from the protestors:
The Protestors were prevented from accessing the Green Zone. Wouldn't the Green Zone be one of the safest places in the country??? Perhaps, the only safer place is on the US Military base.....As such, this reasoning by Alak is certainly suspect......It certainly would be good cover/excuse to move the small notes into the banks.....

Public protests continued for the second consecutive day in Sadr City, east of Baghdad. The bridge between the Tahrir Square and the Green Zone continued to be closed.
Baghdad and several provinces on Tuesday witnessed demonstrations against poor services, unemployment and the general situation in the country and caused clashes between security forces and demonstrators that resulted in dozens of injuries from both sides and the death of demonstrators, two of them a young man from Sadr City. Samson: The Central Bank establishes a unified database for the banking system between its branches and the Center

The Central Bank of Iraq established a database for the banking system (ICBS) in its branch
in Erbil in a move to consolidate the main database in Baghdad and other branches.
This bank confirms that the remittances in the payment system (RTGS) made by banks to
their accounts in Erbil and Basra branch can be carried out directly and in real time,
while the accounting department in this bank is currently working towards linking the
database with the Mosul branch, and it is hoped that they will be completed before End
of the year.

Saigon Commercial Bank (SCB) has just announced interest rates of up to 8.21 per cent for six-month online deposits
HÀ NỘI — Commercial banks have recently raised their interest rates for six-month deposits to a record high of more than 8 per cent per year. The rate was previously reserved for long-term deposits of more than a year.
Saigon Commercial Bank (SCB) has announced interest rates of 8.03 per cent for six-month online deposits, rising to 8.21 per cent for deposits valued at VNĐ10 billion (US$435,000) and above. This adjustment gives SCB the highest deposit rate for six month terms.
