A political analyst, Mohamed Tawfiq Allawi, was appointed this evening to head the transitional government Monday evening.

"Now, according to the confirmed information, Muhammad Allawi will be assigned at exactly ten o'clock in the evening, under the leadership of the prime minister," Wasiq al-Hashemi said in a press statement.
He added that "there is a private plane that went to Beirut to bring Allawi to assign him officially," noting that "in Iraq there are changes that may happen at any moment."

Al-Hashemi added, "It seems that the political consensus between [the others and the Fatah] and other parties has agreed to choose Muhammad Allawi. Therefore, President of the Republic Barham Salih will go tomorrow to Switzerland to participate in the Davos Forum and meet the US President Trump."

Yes Iraq:  A correspondent of "Yass Iraq" in Baghdad said that Iraqi President Barham Salih will assign former Minister Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to head the new government after he is closer to take over this task, and that he will form the government during the month of his mandate and announce it at the beginning of next month of next year.   Barham tried but did not succeed:

 A prominent Iraqi politician told Yassin Iraq, who asked not to be named, “The Iraqi presidency tried to play more than once during the constitutional period and postponed the deadline for nominating a candidate to assign him to form the new government until Sunday, and that President Saleh tried to take over this task himself on the pretext of the lack of personality Agreed upon and once on the pretext of not defining the largest bloc, and this was evident during his meeting with the leaders of the political blocs......

There were extensive contacts during the past hours between parties in Najaf on the one hand and Barham Saleh's office on the other hand supported by a broad parliamentary force with a campaign of nominations for Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to take over the new task, especially that Muhammad Tawfiq refused to participate in the government of Abdul-Mahdi and resigned from the second Maliki government after a wide dispute between The two parties.

Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi is a figure known for his integrity and he is respected by the religious authority. The authority had previously asked him to run for the position of Prime Minister in 2010 instead of his cousin Iyad Allawi, but he refused, and he has a relationship with the family of Mr. Sadr.

A source close to Allawi told {the Euphrates News} saying that "President of the Republic Barham Saleh will not cost Allawi today," indicating that "the incompatibility prevented that."

A political source revealed, this evening, to Al-Furat, that "the nomination of candidate Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi has not been resolved, and he may falter and search for another candidate."

The (Al Furat News) revealed this afternoon, quoting a source familiar with the most likely candidate to head the transitional government, who may be assigned tonight.

The source stated to {the Euphrates News} that, “After excluding 3 candidates from the position, namely (Qasim Al-Araji, Mustafa Al-Kazemi and Ali Allawi) from the nomination, the competition between {Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi} and {Ali Shukri} was restricted.”

He added, "According to political sources," Allawi is the favorite and most likely to assign him. "

Frank26   ...when the Central Bank of Iraq raises the value of their currency there are already established private banks around the world that have an agreement with the central bank...the Central Bank of Iraq's children is their currency.  Each individual bill is very precious to them.  It's called their note count...there are banks around the world IMO have been established around the world that will send back their children [Dinar Notes]...if I live in Ohio and I go to a bank and I exchange my dinar for American dollars...that bank has made an agreement with the CBI...Will the private banks allow us to leave the deposits in dinars?  Yes...they are going to let you keep your dinars as dinars on American soil...all of this is IMO...

The deputy revealed a coalition of state law high Nassif, on Saturday, the government's intention to send a draft financial budget law to parliament during the coming hours, indicating that the government approved the draft before submitting its resignation.

Nassif said in a statement to the "information" that "the budget law stipulates that the government cannot send the budget or any law in the event it turns into a caretaker, but the budget law was approved two days before the resignation was submitted." She added that "the law will be sent based on that book to Parliament in the coming hours, provided that it will be dealt with according to public interests and make some amendments."

Nassif explained that "this year's budget is characterized by its non-reliance on foreign loans and its reliance on the Chinese agreement in the field of construction, in addition to the government seeking to conclude similar agreements with large countries to end the file of foreign loans and not pay huge benefits with foreign loans."   LINK

Tishwash:   Zimbabwe, Chinese Businesses In Currency Swap Deal

Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube said that Zimbabwe has entered into a currency swap arrangement with China.

This will allow potential investors coming from China to swap or exchange their foreign currency with Chinese investors already in Zimbabwe who wish to send their money to China.

The Chinese investor in Zimbabwe would then release the Zimbabwe dollar equivalent of the US dollar to the local bank account of the payer in China. Said Ncube:

We have entered into a currency swap arrangement, what this means is that some would be investing in Zimbabwe from China and those who require their proceeds to be remitted back to China which is normal.

So, the idea is those individuals will then swap (currency) so that those who are investing in Zimbabwe are able to give them a domestic currency and they use the foreign currency which they are bringing in for investment to pay those who are exiting.

The currency swap of US dollars for Zimbabwe dollars will be done with the approval of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and the Ministry of Finance.

The move is meant to increase trade and investment between China and Zimbabwe.   link

IMO Trump is insisting to stop the usage of the American dollar through their auctions.  Why? To play fair...what is happening is the reason why the auction are about to be shut down.  What happens if they shut down the auctions?  They have to use their own currency...you shut down those auctions President Trump and you force them to raise the value of their currency.  You timed this brilliantly.  Freaking brilliantly.

On Wednesday, a member of the Iraqi Economic Council, Ghadeer Al-Attar, announced the importance of the new financial management law recently passed by the parliament.

A statement by Al-Attar received by ( Iraqi Media News Agency / INA ) stated that "the Financial Management Law aims to regulate the rules and procedures governing financial and accounting management in the field of planning, preparation, implementation, control and audit of the federal public budget."

He added, "The law will direct all federal revenues to the public treasury to cover public expenditures, determine the internal control units' link in administrative and technical terms, establish mechanisms related to budget implementation, the commitment of each implementing agency, and determine the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance in the implementation phase."

Al-Attar indicated that “through the Financial Management Law, it will be possible to set specific dates to present the final accounts and adhere to the principles of the budget (budget transparency, budget comprehensiveness, budget unity, annual budget, and non-allocation) when preparing and implementing the federal public budget and related matters in a manner that ensures the stability of the economy Macro and financial stability, enhancing budget allocation, improving spending efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring optimal cash management and improving the quality of budget information provided to the House of Representatives and public opinion. ”

An employee at the Central Bank of Iraq revealed to the station that the named Hassan Nasser Jaafar al-Lami is Qasim Soleimani the financial in Iraq, and one of the main officials in financing Iran and Hezbollah in foreign currency, and that he entered Lebanon on the sixth of last December.

According to press sources, “On last December 2, an Arab satellite channel received a call from Baghdad from an Iraqi woman saying that she works in the Central Bank of Iraq and in possession of evidence condemning Iraqi figures who illegally withdrew dollars from the aforementioned bank before escaping abroad to finance groups linked to Iran Classified as a terrorist organization in the United States, including Hezbollah and even ISIS groups.

And after "multiple contacts with the woman and checking the documents and her identity, a team from the satellite channel met in one of the neighboring countries to preserve the confidentiality of the meeting and preserve us for her security."

The lady indicated that “the corruption that occurred previously, present, and independently was caused by the governor of the Central Bank, Ali Al-Alaq, who has withdrawn powers,” noting that “there are two general managers who have full powers. ”

And she continued that "there are three heads of corruption in the central bank who consider Iran’s arms in Iraq to control the central bank, the first of which is Hamad Al-Musawi, the owner of Al Hoda Bank, Ali Ghulam, the owner of the Bank of the Middle East, and Hassan Nasser Jaafar al-Lami, the owner of the Bank of Iraq and across Iraq."

The sources pointed out that "the Iraqi lady said that the Federal Bank in New York asked the Iraqi Central Bank to prevent Hassan Nasser and the owners of other banks from selling foreign work, specifically the dollar, because of charges against them such as money laundering and the smuggling of dollars for terrorist purposes."

And she continued, "Hassan Nasser Jaafar Al-Lami has this Noor Bank of Iraq and across Iraq, this is a dangerous man and he has a strong ability to sell dollars and foreign work abroad, confirming that he is one of the ISIS financiers."

She pointed out that "White House sources assured her that the US administration has started investigations with senior influential employees of the Central Bank of Iraq after it became clear that pro-Iranian banks are trying to break US economic sanctions by smuggling the dollar to Iran and its allies in the region."

She added that "Al-Lami hid all the documents in the bank and forged them," noting that she "got the real documents by helping employees inside the bank."

She noted that Al-Lami "came to Lebanon during this month and met Hezbollah to negotiate how to fund them from Iraqi money."   link

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Monday that the United States intends to work with the Iraqi leadership to determine the most appropriate place for the deployment of American forces in Iraq.

Pompeo said in a speech to him, California, today, Monday: "As for how the issue of the location of our forces inside Iraq will be resolved in the end, we will work ... with the elected leaders in Iraq to choose the most appropriate place."

He added, "I have contacted 50 personalities in Iraq from all sects, including Shiite personalities, and all of them appreciates, even if not openly, the American role in Iraq."
 
The US Secretary of State had confirmed the US readiness to continue the dialogue with Iraq on the "appropriate structure" for the American military presence in the country, following the issuance of a statement by the Office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, in which he said he had requested to send delegates to Iraq to put in place mechanisms for implementation. Iraqi House of Representatives decision to withdraw American forces.

The United States announced that any American delegation visiting Iraq will not discuss withdrawing American forces.   LINK

The State Department official, Matthew Cornell, said Monday that his government is in full talks with the Iraqi government, pointing out that "the imposition of sanctions" is under review .

"We have no intention of imposing sanctions on Iraq but the matter is under review," Cornell said, in a televised interview, via Al Arabiya television. "Noting that any country that does not comply with the sanctions on Iran will face the consequences of the violation."

He pointed out that "the Iraqi parliament's vote to remove our forces was a decision, not a law," adding that his government was conducting "comprehensive talks with the Iraqi government not only to fight ISIS."

He continued: "We have repeatedly warned Iran against killing or wounding Americans," noting that "the former Iranian commander of the Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, planned to attack American targets."

He continued: "We knew Soleimani's movements between Syria, Iraq and Lebanon," noting that "the decision to kill Soleimani was not taken overnight."

He added, "President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have confidence that they are legally authorized to kill Soleimani."

The US administration had warned Saturday (January 11, 2020) that Iraq could lose access to a vital bank account if it expelled American forces from the country, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper quoted Iraqi officials that "the US State Department informed the authorities in Baghdad that they may lose access to an account in the New York Federal Reserve, which includes the proceeds of oil sales, which threatens to deal a painful blow to the faltering Iraqi economy."

One of the Iraqi officials indicated that "the warning about the aforementioned account came through a phone call made by the US State Department, last Wednesday, with the head of the Iraqi caretaker government, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, as the two sides discussed other files of the military, financial and political partnership between Washington and Baghdad."

And the threat of Iraq being subjected to US sanctions on the horizon after the assassination of the Iranian General, Qassem Soleimani, as a result of a US air raid near Baghdad International Airport, on January 3, the event to which the Iraqi Parliament responded by voting, on January 5, in favor of a resolution demanding the Prime Minister to act to remove About 5,300 American soldiers from the country.

In response to this decision, US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose sanctions against Iraq in the event that Baghdad insists on withdrawing US forces.

"The Iraqi parliament’s vote to withdraw the American forces is deficient due to the absence of the representatives of the sects from the session," Ortagos quoted Sky News as saying.

And the US State Department spokeswoman, Morgan Ortagos, said Monday (06 January 2020) that the American forces made sacrifices in order for Iraq to be stable, and it is in the interest of Iraq that our forces remain.

"The Trump administration has supported the protests that have taken place due to Iran's influence in Iraq," Morgan Ortagos said in statements to Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath, noting that "the protesters want to end Iranian influence and we will continue to support the Iraqi people in this."

Ortagos added, "The American forces made sacrifices in order for Iraq to be stable, and it is in the interest of Iraq that our forces remain and ally with them."

And about the recent decision of the House of Representatives, which voted to remove foreign forces from the country, she said: "We were very disappointed after the vote to remove our forces."

Regarding the threat of factions targeting the American forces in Iraq, the State Department spokeswoman stressed that "any attack by armed factions against American interests and forces will be treated as an attack by Iran."

The Iraqi parliament, on Sunday (January 05, 2020), voted in favor of the government’s obligation to remove foreign forces from the country, cancel the security agreement with the United States, and cancel the request to assist the international coalition led by Washington in combating terrorism.

And US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose sanctions on Baghdad after the parliament voted to remove foreign forces, on condition that Baghdad pays Washington the cost of building its air base.

"If Iraq demands the departure of American forces and this is not done on an amicable basis, we will impose sanctions on them they have never seen before. Iran's sanctions will be a small thing next door," Trump said.   LINK

 don't know for sure, but I have a strong feeling there is no coincidence's about these to events taking place now.  Even the CBI has told us they reduced the note count, they even show in their spread sheets on the Arabic side (per Delta) that they have paid for the recent new printing of money to the tune of approximately $190 million +- over the last year or so.

The legal expert, Tariq Harb, confirmed on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, that the United States will not pursue Iraq’s money deposited in the US federal treasury after all its debts have been settled against its companies.

A representative source said in a press statement that "the session No. 27 will be held at exactly one o'clock in the afternoon from tomorrow, Saturday, explaining that, according to the session's agenda, a vote will be taken on the proposal to amend the Federal Financial Management Law No. 6 of 2019, and also vote on a draft law to join Iraq To the International Land Transport Agreement of 1975".

It seems they now have a need to support the dinar and even more now especially when moving into a new phase of going into a market economy. imo. They will need to support the dinar to protect the poor segments of society during the roll over into it.

The CBI is in control of the market they say, thus, they state the were capable of handling imbalances. They give assurances that Iraq is a rich country! They are saying the abundance of Dollars in the market is a concern.. Imo. This is supporting they are now looking to quit using the Dollar. Thereby, supporting the Dinar. Once they cease MCP's the demand of the Dinar will increase. imo.. 

Yesterday, the CBI Governor, ITB, Finance Minister, etc., told us they were going to protect the currency internally and externally.  That is meaning to me, they have the mechanisms in place to do so. One mechanism would be to stop the MCPs and raising the rate of the IQD.  The supply and demand will equalize over time, it may only take a couple weeks once they do?

Regardless, that sort of support is a requirement by the IMF for completion and ascension into a market economy, imo. Iraq has been given orders to complete the MR process and they clearly are making that very apparent, as to the effect to that is exactly what they are doing!!! imo.

HoosierGirl:  Well it seems from what I'm hearing on the news, that the Iranian "influence" in Iraq's government has been "exposed" worldwide by the Trump Administration members. 

People now know it is NOT Iraqis who are doing the dirty work, but the Iranians inside the GOI AND that those have been bribed.  The Iraqi citizens have burned many of their homes to express they want rid of them. Mahdi has resigned but not left.

There is a timing issue there I would think IMO IMO IMO.  NOW they are going to suddenly hold a session for the new PM FINALLY maybe. 

I believe with the events of the past few days they are all realizing that the United States of America isn't going anywhere.  Iran's rockets were pathetic.  Just listened to one man on the news say that their rockets are capable of hitting something within a half mile estimate of their target!

ERBIL - Iraqi powerful Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr said on Wednesday that he believes the crisis in the country was over, urging the pro-Iranian militia groups to stand down.

Sadr's comments came as tensions were escalating in the past few days between the US and Iran in Iraq following the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Quds Force.

Sadr also called for efforts to nominate a new premier for Iraq, pointing out that a new strong government could protect the country's sovereignty and independence, which he noted that it should be formed within 15 days.

However, he added that Baghdad should still work to oust the foreign troops from Iraq.

From Iraq........

Iraqi TV broadcasted the protestors giving the government until Friday to appoint a prime minister that they have picked or there will be a Million Man March on the green zone and that the protestors claim innocence and declare the decisions by Parliament to be illegal.

The protestors are still in streets saying "three more days" to the deadline on the government giving them the prime minister they chose and they declare innocence of Parliament and consider all Parliament decisions illegal.

Iranian TV is showing their Parliament voting to name the USA as a terrorist group and indicating that Iran's foreign minister is going to expose names of Westerners who have taken bribes since the USA backed out of the deal.

Many legal activists on Iraqi TV saying what Parliament did was illegal and that a caretaker government cannot do such actions . Also, Iraqi TV broadcasts the USA preparing sanctions against them and the list starts with freezing all oil revenue through the USA.  They indicated that all USA companies would not do business with Iraq they will pull out and then the USA will shut down the daily currency auctions along with several others on list as well.

More USA troops are appearing and they are still guarding the green zone.

The Kurds say they are not concerned about Parliament's vote on the troops leaving because it's against the law, however, they will file a complaint with the federal court and block any move of the law.

Halbousi is saying that only the Shiites voted to expel the Americans, not the entire parliament.

An economist for Iraq says if the USA puts sanctions on Iraq that would mean famine for Iraq. The citizens are demonstrating "for" America in the streets....they don't want sanctions and are saying Parliament does not represent them.

US exchange centers are contacting their staff to be prepared to be called in to work in the coming days, but we do not know of any staff being on location yet (contrary to other "intel").

Jeff  ...what Iraq's parliament did the other day...nothing was passed or approved that was legal and binding to physically remove the US.  Only the Shias attended parliament and did this act or stunt to support Iran.  The Kurds and the Sunnis did not attend parliament so everything you guys are seeing in the news right now is BS and they did not pass anything legal or binding.  The US is not going to be removed...
