MZ: We are now seeing only slow movement on bonds. They seemed to have slowed down.

MZ: The whales are still in place with a lot of anticipation on the group side. If there was a delay I still don’t know what the cause was. Can’t find anything credible on that.   We will just continue to watch it play out. .

Member:  This is a quote from Judy Byington report this morning. The Iraqi Dinar has a new rate of over $11.90 USD that went International on Mon. 29 Nov.

Member: This was coming from Fleming and maybe Bruce too!

Member: Can anyone find a website that shows the new Dinar rate for exchange of 11.90? I can't

Member: Until I see the rate of $11.90 on forex I don’t believe it!

MZ: We have seen the rate bounce around all over. Based on what we are hearing from banks I can see where that rumor is coming from. Remember that link from Dr. Shabibi that said when he was addressing a number of business leaders years ago…..he could justify a rate of $16-$18 dollars – no problem . Then he showed the math and how they would do it. He clearly laid out how it is possible.

MZ: If you guys are not familiar with Dr. Shabibi- he is the brains behind the Iraqi dinar RV…former governor of the CBI. (Central Bank of Iraq) . He is one of the greatest economic minds of our generation.

Dr Shabibi answering questions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol8wve53-ME

Member: The rates I have heard are similar to what Mark said. $2.50 on Dong, $5.00 on dinar & 3 million per 10T zim bond

MZ: Wish I had something more “juicy” for you all….but we are starting to see a lot of chatter on very interesting rates popping up right now.

MZ:  Update from Isaac 12/2:  Hope all good. I will talk later and see if liquidity will start this week. Big meeting at HSBC

MZ: I can tell you that there was a huge meeting with HSBC as they try to coordinate with branches around the world to prepare for it. But I don’t know what the outcome was. That is when most of my bond people in Zurich went dead silent on me.

Member: What in the holy heck will it take for us to see this RV?

Member: The 3 indexs on the Stock Market all in the negative

Member: Nasdaq Dropping like the TITANIC

Member: Stock market is responding to IMF's statement that the US needs to speed up tightening. Statement just came out.

MZ: Lots of news out of China…there are 2 more property developers imploding….so I really think we are close.

Member: With the gov. Shutting down . Evergreen going under frank saying the Iraq having there videos have been shown and a rate that was shown on mistake ahead of time I think it’s a matter of moments

Member:  Why are we waiting for a event for this to start? Whether we go now or when an event happens surely doesn't make much difference as only about 1% of the population know about it and we will be under NDA

Member: I think  they need an event to cause the martial law across the planet to contain the bad people. Then round them up. The rv will be safer then

Member: Hi Mark! "They" are saying "govt/ corporation" extended operations ten more weeks. I'm wishing they were all removed from office, shut down and sort them out later.

Member: The stock market is rigged and driven by day traders, computer algo programs, and tutes 'Rats'. They produce and capitalize on wide point swings. Pre-stage to a triggering event for the 'Crash'

Member:  Mark why are some saying that we have to wait until 2022 to cash in since that's when it's in the budget?

Member: Frank said if they open the 2022 budget on Jan 1…then the new rate has to be done before that.

Member: Remember people, dis-information is necessary, it is a distraction. We just got to wait, like we have been all these years, waiting, waiting...

Member: When everything is released …all this madness will stop and disclosures put out for sure

Member: I don’t know about you but I’m hearing great news

Member: Wolverine: incredible news that the RV be released and notifications will be coming out any day now. Meeting with HSBC went fantastic as we are definitely having an early Christmas this month!!!!!!!!

Member: The Chinese arrived in Reno, 2 weeks ago...Judy

Member: IMO It is Going to Be a Christmas to Remember!!!!

Member: Mark z thank you for the Hope in the sunshine that you bring looking forward for this ride to be over !!

GOLD RATIO & PRE-RESET…Q&A WITH LYNETTE ZANG & ERIC GRIFFIN

Dec. 2, 2021

Question 1: 1:13 Say I have food, water, shelter, precious metals, security etc... and I'm now 'Lynette ready' and then boom, there's the reset! From what I understand, I wait for the price of gold to shoot up, and I sell 50% of my physical gold to buy, now cheap, assets like say, Tesla, that took a temporary stock price beating from the reset?

Question 2: 2:23 What if I just hold on to the gold instead, I guess it means that I'll live relatively 'comfortably' throughout the reset but, in the end, I'll be only slightly ahead from where I started before the reset? If so, why is that?

Question 3: 4:04 After the reset, what happens to my (pre-reset) cash at home... is it still worth something? If not, in your opinion should I own more gold than disposable cash for that reason before the reset happens?

Question 4: 5:13 Then when life returns to 'normal', the plan is to resume accumulating gold for the next financial cycle for the offsprings and their offsprings' well-being? And am I missing anything?

Question 5: 11:01 What will get money velocity moving to the point of hyperinflation?

Question 6: 12:08 Can Lynette explain why she prefers coins over gold bars?

Question 7: 15:37 Is it a good idea to wait for silver ratio to get better and trade the silver for gold?

Question 8: 21:47 How do we know when Gold and silver is overvalued?

Samson:  World Bank transfers $280 million in frozen aid to Afghanistan

2nd December, 2021

The World Bank Board has approved transferring $280 million from a frozen Afghanistan trust fund to two relief agencies to help the country. Reuters quoted two well-informed sources on Wednesday that this transfer aims to help Afghanistan overcome the effects of its deteriorating economy in the wake of the Taliban's takeover of power and the withdrawal of the United States.

The source explained that the 31 donors to the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund, which is managed by the World Bank, must agree to the transfer before the funds can reach the World Food Program and the United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF". The two sources added that the donors are expected to meet on Friday.  LINK

Samson:  Facilitating Iraq's WTO Accession process in collaboration with Iraq's National Committee on WTO Accession

29th November, 2021

Iraq's National Committee on WTO Accession participated in a technical session organised in Baghdad on 23rd November.

The session  provided a comprehensive overview of the accession process and highlighted the crucial role of  the National Committee on WTO Accession in this process.

Iraq initiated its process to WTO Accession in 2004 but due to political and economic instability this was stalled until 2017 when Iraq expressed interest to reinstate their determination to join the WTO. Since then, Iraq has made considerable progress in this front including the recent submission of key technical documents to the WTO secretariat.

Representatives from various government institutions from Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq including officials from the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industry participated in the session. Various private sector institutions also attended.

The workshop was organized by the International Trade Centre (ITC) a joint agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and United Nations (UN), through the "Strengthening the Agriculture and Agri-food Value Chain and Improving trade policy in Iraq" (SAAVI) project.

Funded by the European Union (EU), the project is contributing to inclusive economic growth and job creation, particularly for youth, by improving Iraq's agriculture competitiveness and supporting trade development. It is also particularly focuses on providing support to Iraq in the process of acceding to the WTO.

Mr. Adel Al-Masoodi, Director General, Foreign Economic Relations Department, Ministry of Trade opened the day and reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to the accession to the WTO and assured the support of his team to the SAAVI project. In his opening remarks, Mr Al-Masoodi also recognised and congratulated the progress that has been made in Iraq's Accession progress through ITC's SAAVI project.

The delegation of the European Union to Iraq was also present at the event and was represented by Mr. Mauro Gioe, who stated that "becoming a member of the WTO will result in a reduction of trade barriers, predictability and transparency of international trade rules, and increased competitiveness, all of which will increase trade for Iraq" adding that  "the advantages gained by a new WTO member are always greater than the potential losses that some economic actors may initially face. Overall, the whole country wins".

On behalf of ITC, Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, the Director of the Division of Market Development opened the session. In his remarks, Mr. Aggarwal focused on the importance of a strong National Committee in place to progress on WTO Accession. The National Committee provides a platform for both the public and private sector to come together and to take key  decisions in line with national priorities  and domestic policy reform," he said.

The workshop provided an opportunity to reassemble members of the National Committee on WTO accession, created 2004 through a ministerial order. Participants were updated by the Ministry of Trade of Iraq about the recent development which occurred in relation to Iraq's accession process to the WTO. This was followed by a number of technical sessions aimed at building a common understanding of all members with respect to substantive and procedural matters of immediate relevance for Iraq's accession to the WTO.

This session is part of a series of capacity building sessions that will be organised through the SAAVI project to support Iraq to accede to the WTO.  LINK

Going Cashless Looks More and More Like a Capitalist Scam

Paper vs Plastic

Lawmakers argue bans on cashless stores could protect tens of millions of Americans without access to credit cards.

When Bluestone Lane decided to go cashless, the people running the coffee franchise were thinking of efficiency.

“Cash takes time,” said Andy Stone, vice president of brand marketing and events at the company, which was inspired by cafe culture in Australia.

“In New York, nobody wants to be waiting in line.” There’s also the counting of cash, the moving and transferring of it in actual trucks, which can be vulnerable to theft.

And, Stone noted, the transparency question. “Whatever comes into the system, comes into the system. It’s better for society if we pay more taxes.”

Bluestone is far from the only business allowing solely plastic or digital payments in a country where, a Federal Reserve report last fall estimated, credit and debit cards were used in 48 percent of consumer transactions in 2017.

But in the past several months, local and state governments have moved to resist this trend, citing concerns that a cashless economy could discriminate against the roughly 6.5 percent of US households—disproportionately young, low-income people of color—without bank accounts, and hike up the cost of goods to account for credit card fees.

In early March, Philadelphia became the first major US city to ban cashless businesses.

A couple of weeks later, the state of New Jersey followed suit, becoming the second state to ban virtually all cashless businesses after Massachusetts, which has had a policy in place since the 1970s.

5 Lies You’ve Been Told About Generational Wealth

The markers of generational wealth are manifold, from the promise of a good education to the security of homeownership. Wealth begets further wealth, but not always through inheritance of assets.

“Much of the transmission of wealth to the next generation goes through these earlier life processes, such as supporting children’s education, supporting their ability to purchase a home, or to get married,” researcher Fabian Pfeffer wrote in a recent study at the University of Michigan. “All of these—education, homeownership, marriage—in turn help you accumulate wealth.”

Here’s what you have wrong about people who inherit money.

But the extent to which family money helps future generations retain and build on their wealth—or acquire financial literacy—is less marked than you might imagine. Here are some of the commonly held misconceptions about the beneficiaries of generational wealth.

1. Their Wealth Lasts Many Generations

We don’t have to look further than one Donald Trump to see how wealth can trickle down and set up future generations for success. But generational wealth is actually harder to maintain than America’s richest families might lead you to believe: About 70% of wealthy families lose their wealth by the second generation, and 90% do by the following generation.

One reason that happens is the next generation may not be equipped to manage the money they inherit. But it’s also that family wealth can be diluted as it is divided amongst children, especially if each has a different stance on how to invest or manage the family finances. (Think of the family jockeying on Succession.)

Some financial experts even recommend that—not unlike businesses—families come up with a “mission statement” to establish financial values and goals, in an effort to preserve wealth across future generations

2. Their Parents Talk To Them About Money

You might think parents with money share their financial know-how with their offspring. But that’s not necessarily the case. “Some parents don’t want their kids to feel like they have a huge landing pad or that they may not need to work,” says Emily Green, a financial adviser at Sallie Krawcheck‘s investment platform, Ellevest.

An Angel in Disguise

by T.S. Arthur

An Angel in Disguise (1851) was featured in Arthur's collection, After a Shadow and Other Stories. "The sweetness of that sick child, looking ever to her in love, patience, and gratitude, was as honey to her soul, and she carried her in her heart as well as in her arms, a precious burden."

Idleness, vice, and intemperance had done their miserable work, and the dead mother lay cold and still amid her wretched children. She had fallen upon the threshold of her own door in a drunken fit, and died in the presence of her frightened little ones.

Death touches the spring of our common humanity. This woman had been despised, scoffed at, and angrily denounced by nearly every man, woman, and child in the village; but now, as the fact of her death was passed from lip to lip, in subdued tones, pity took the place of anger, and sorrow of denunciation. Neighbors went hastily to the old tumble-down hut, in which she had secured little more than a place of shelter from summer heats and winter cold: some with grave-clothes for a decent interment of the body; and some with food for the half-starving children, three in number.

Of these, John, the oldest, a boy of twelve, was a stout lad, able to earn his living with any farmer. Kate, between ten and eleven, was bright, active girl, out of whom something clever might be made, if in good hands; but poor little Maggie, the youngest, was hopelessly diseased. Two years before a fall from a window had injured her spine, and she had not been able to leave her bed since, except when lifted in the arms of her mother.

"What is to be done with the children?" That was the chief question now. The dead mother would go underground, and be forever beyond all care or concern of the villagers. But the children must not be left to starve. After considering the matter, and talking it over with his wife, farmer Jones said that he would take John, and do well by him, now that his mother was out of the way; and Mrs. Ellis, who had been looking out for a bound girl, concluded that it would be charitable in her to make choice of Katy, even though she was too young to be of much use for several years.

"I could do much better, I know," said Mrs. Ellis; "but as no one seems inclined to take her, I must act from a sense of duty expect to have trouble with the child; for she's an undisciplined thing--used to having her own way."

But no one said "I'll take Maggie." Pitying glances were cast on her wan and wasted form and thoughts were troubled on her account. Mothers brought cast-off garments and, removing her soiled and ragged clothes, dressed her in clean attire. The sad eyes and patient face of the little one touched many hearts, and even knocked at them for entrance. But none opened to take her in. Who wanted a bed-ridden child?

"Take her to the poorhouse," said a rough man, of whom the question "What's to be done with Maggie?" was asked. "Nobody's going to be bothered with her."

"The poorhouse is a sad place for a sick and helpless child," answered one.

"For your child or mine," said the other, lightly speaking; "but for tis brat it will prove a blessed change, she will be kept clean, have healthy food, and be doctored, which is more than can be said of her past condition."

There was reason in that, but still it didn't satisfy. The day following the day of death was made the day of burial. A few neighbors were at the miserable hovel, but none followed dead cart as it bore the unhonored remains to its pauper grave. Farmer Jones, after the coffin was taken out, placed John in his wagon and drove away, satisfied that he had done his part.

Mrs. Ellis spoke to Kate with a hurried air, "Bid your sister good by," and drew the tearful children apart ere scarcely their lips had touched in a sobbing farewell. Hastily others went out, some glancing at Maggie, and some resolutely refraining from a look, until all had gone. She was alone! Just beyond the threshold Joe Thompson, the wheelwright, paused, and said to the blacksmith's wife, who was hastening off with the rest,--

"It's a cruel thing to leave her so."

"Then take her to the poorhouse: she'll have to go there," answered the blacksmith's wife, springing away, and leaving Joe behind.

For a little while the man stood with a puzzled air; then he turned back, and went into the hovel again. Maggie with painful effort, had raised herself to an upright position and was sitting on the bed, straining her eyes upon the door out of which all had just departed, A vague terror had come into her thin white face.

"O, Mr. Thompson!" she cried out, catching her suspended breath, "don't leave me here all alone!"

Though rough in exterior, Joe Thompson, the wheelwright, had a heart, and it was very tender in some places. He liked children, and was pleased to have them come to his shop, where sleds and wagons were made or mended for the village lads without a draft on their hoarded sixpences.

"No, dear," he answered, in a kind voice, going to the bed, and stooping down over the child, "You sha'n't be left here alone." Then he wrapped her with the gentleness almost of a woman, in the clean bedclothes which some neighbor had brought; and, lifting her in his strong arms, bore her out into the air and across the field that lay between the hovel and his home.

Now, Joe Thompson's wife, who happened to be childless, was not a woman of saintly temper, nor much given to self-denial for others' good, and Joe had well-grounded doubts touching the manner of greeting he should receive on his arrival.

Mrs. Thompson saw him approaching from the window, and with ruffling feathers met him a few paces from the door, as he opened the garden gate, and came in. He bore a precious burden, and he felt it to be so. As his arms held the sick child to his breast, a sphere of tenderness went out from her, and penetrated his feelings. A bond had already corded itself around them both, and love was springing into life.

"What have you there?" sharply questioned Mrs. Thompson.

Joe, felt the child start and shrink against him. He did not reply, except by a look that was pleading and cautionary, that said, "Wait a moment for explanations, and be gentle;" and, passing in, carried Maggie to the small chamber on the first floor, and laid her on a bed. Then, stepping back, he shut the door, and stood face to face with his vinegar-tempered wife in the passage-way outside.

"You haven't brought home that sick brat!" Anger and astonishment were in the tones of Mrs. Joe Thompson; her face was in a flame.

"I think women's hearts are sometimes very hard," said Joe. Usually Joe Thompson got out of his wife's way, or kept rigidly silent and non-combative when she fired up on any subject; it was with some surprise, therefore, that she now encountered a firmly-set countenance and a resolute pair of eyes.

"Women's hearts are not half so hard as men's!"

Joe saw, by a quick intuition, that his resolute bearing had impressed his wife and he answered quickly, and with real indignation, "Be that as it may, every woman at the funeral turned her eyes steadily from the sick child's face, and when the cart went off with her dead mother, hurried away, and left her alone in that old hut, with the sun not an hour in the sky."

"Where were John and Kate?" asked Mrs. Thompson.

"Farmer Jones tossed John into his wagon, and drove off. Katie went home with Mrs. Ellis; but nobody wanted the poor sick one. 'Send her to the poorhouse,' was the cry."

"Why didn't you let her go, then. What did you bring her here for?"

"She can't walk to the poorhouse," said Joe; "somebody's arms must carry her, and mine are strong enough for that task."

"Then why didn't you keep on? Why did you stop here?" demanded the wife.

"Because I'm not apt to go on fools' errands. The Guardians must first be seen, and a permit obtained."

There was no gainsaying this.

"When will you see the Guardians?" was asked, with irrepressible impatience.

"To-morrow."

"Why put it off till to-morrow? Go at once for the permit, and get the whole thing off of your hands to-night."

"Jane," said the wheelwright, with an impressiveness of tone that greatly subdued his wife, "I read in the Bible sometimes, and find much said about little children. How the Savior rebuked the disciples who would not receive them; how he took them up in his arms, and blessed them; and how he said that 'whosoever gave them even a cup of cold water should not go unrewarded.'

Now, it is a small thing for us to keep this poor motherless little one for a single night; to be kind to her for a single night; to make her life comfortable for a single night."

The voice of the strong, rough man shook, and he turned his head away, so that the moisture in his eyes might not be seen. Mrs. Thompson did not answer, but a soft feeling crept into her heart.

"Look at her kindly, Jane; speak to her kindly," said Joe. "Think of her dead mother, and the loneliness, the pain, the sorrow that must be on all her coming life." The softness of his heart gave unwonted eloquence to his lips.

Mrs. Thompson did not reply, but presently turned towards the little chamber where her husband had deposited Maggie; and, pushing open the door, went quietly in. Joe did not follow; he saw that, her state had changed, and felt that it would be best to leave her alone with the child. So he went to his shop, which stood near the house, and worked until dusky evening released him from labor.

A light shining through the little chamber windows was the first object that attracted Joe's attention on turning towards the house: it was a good omen. The path led him by this windows and, when opposite, he could not help pausing to look in. It was now dark enough outside to screen him from observation.

Maggie lay, a little raised on the pillow with the lamp shining full upon her face. Mrs. Thompson was sitting by the bed, talking to the child; but her back was towards the window, so that her countenance was not seen. From Maggie's face, therefore, Joe must read the character of their intercourse.

He saw that her eyes were intently fixed upon his wife; that now and then a few words came, as if in answers from her lips; that her expression was sad and tender; but he saw nothing of bitterness or pain. A deep-drawn breath was followed by one of relief, as a weight lifted itself from his heart.

On entering, Joe did not go immediately to the little chamber. His heavy tread about the kitchen brought his wife somewhat hurriedly from the room where she had been with Maggie. Joe thought it best not to refer to the child, nor to manifest any concern in regard to her.

"How soon will supper be ready?" he asked.

"Right soon," answered Mrs. Thompson, beginning to bustle about. There was no asperity in her voice.

After washing from his hands and face the dust and soil of work, Joe left the kitchen, and went to the little bedroom. A pair of large bright eyes looked up at him from the snowy bed; looked at him tenderly, gratefully, pleadingly. How his heart swelled in his bosom! With what a quicker motion came the heart-beats! Joe sat down, and now, for the first time, examining the thin frame carefully under the lamp light, saw that it was an attractive face, and full of a childish sweetness which suffering had not been able to obliterate.

"Your name is Maggie?" he said, as he sat down and took her soft little hand in his.

"Yes, sir." Her voice struck a chord that quivered in a low strain of music.

"Have you been sick long?"

"Yes, sir." What a sweet patience was in her tone!

Has the doctor been to see you?"

"He used to come."

"But not lately?"

"No, sir."

"Have you any pain?"

"Sometimes, but not now."

"When had you pain?"

"This morning my side ached, and my back hurt when you carried me."

"It hurts you to be lifted or moved about?"

"Yes, sir."

"Your side doesn't ache now?"

"No, sir."

"Does it ache a great deal?"

"Yes, sir; but it hasn't ached any since I've been on this soft bed."

"The soft bed feels good."

"O, yes, sir--so good!" What a satisfaction, mingled with gratitude, was in her voice!

"Supper is ready," said Mrs. Thompson, looking into the room a little while afterwards.

Joe glanced from his wife's face to that of Maggie; she understood him, and answered,--

"She can wait until we are done; then I will bring her somethings to eat." There was an effort at indifference on the part of Mrs. Thompson, but her husband had seen her through the window, and understood that the coldness was assumed. Joe waited, after sitting down to the table, for his wife to introduce the subject uppermost in both of their thoughts; but she kept silent on that theme, for many minutes, and he maintained a like reserve. At last she said, abruptly,--

"What are you going to do with that child?"

"I thought you understood me that she was to go to the poorhouse," replied Joe, as if surprised at her question.

Mrs. Thompson looked rather strangely at her husband for sonic moments, and then dropped her eyes. The subject was not again referred to during the meal. At its close, Mrs. Thompson toasted a slice of bread, and softened, it with milk and butter; adding to this a cup of tea, she took them into Maggie, and held the small waiter, on which she had placed them, while the hungry child ate with every sign of pleasure.

"Is it good?" asked Mrs. Thompson, seeing with what a keen relish the food was taken.

The child paused with the cup in her hand, and answered with a look of gratitude that awoke to new life old human feelings which had been slumbering in her heart for half a score of years.

"We'll keep her a day or two longer; she is so weak and helpless," said Mrs. Joe Thompson, in answer to her husband's remark, at breakfast-time on the next morning, that he must step down and see the Guardians of the Poor about Maggie.

"She'll be so much in your way," said Joe.

"I sha'n't mind that for a day or two. Poor thing!"

Joe did not see the Guardians of the Poor on that day, on the next, nor on the day following. In fact, he never saw them at all on Maggie's account, for in less than a week Mrs. Joe Thompson would as soon leave thought of taking up her own abode in the almshouse as sending Maggie there.

What light and blessing did that sick and helpless child bring to the home of Joe Thompson, the poor wheelwright! It had been dark, and cold, and miserable there for a long time just because his wife had nothing to love and care for out of herself, and so became sore, irritable, ill-tempered, and self-afflicting in the desolation of her woman's nature.

Now the sweetness of that sick child, looking ever to her in love, patience, and gratitude, was as honey to her soul, and she carried her in her heart as well as in her arms, a precious burden. As for Joe Thompson, there was not a man in all the neighborhood who drank daily of a more precious wine of life than he. An angel had come into his house, disguised as a sick, helpless, and miserable child, and filled all its dreary chambers with the sunshine of love.

Patience may be a virtue, but it could also be a key economic indicator.

Economists are interested in values like patience, altruism, and trust because they play key roles in how people behave.

Those individual and collective behaviors can have wide-ranging effects on a nation’s propensity for armed conflict, trajectories of per capita income, and expansion of entrepreneurial
activities.

Levels of patience, for instance, vary widely from country to country, according to an analysis of survey data collected from 80,000 adults in 76 countries. Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United States topped the list, with Nicaragua, Rwanda, and Georgia at the bottom.

Patience, it seems, is associated with factors that are key for upward mobility. Patient individuals, for example, not only were more likely to save but also had higher education levels, researchers found.

.Fathers Confess: Don't Make the Same Money Mistakes I Did

US News By Hal Bundrick

In life, there are occasions when we wish we could get a "do-over." Just as in the movie "Groundhog Day" or Tom Cruise's latest sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," we would love the opportunity to keep doing something over and over until we get it right. In honor of Father's Day, we're going to give a few dads a mulligan on their money mistakes.

Lesson Learned

Mike Robbins, a motivational speaker and author of "Nothing Changes Until You Do," admits to making his share of financial mistakes and fully intends to pass on what he's learned to his two daughters, ages 5 and 8. Robbins' earliest memory of how financial pressures can affect a family goes back to when he was 8 years old.

Just as in the movie "Groundhog Day" or Tom Cruise's latest sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," we would love the opportunity to keep doing something over and over until we get it right.

"I grew up with a single mom, raised in Oakland, California, and we didn't have a lot of money," Robbins says. He recalls the night of a particularly violent rainstorm. The ceiling began to leak from the heavy rain so his mother ran to the kitchen to grab some pots and pans to catch the water. Robbins and his little sister were having a ball -- it all seemed like an exciting game.

"I thought it was fun. I was running around with my sister putting pots on the floor," Robbins recalls. "Then my mom just breaks down and starts crying in the middle of the living room, looks at us and says, 'I don't know what we're going to do.'"

With no money to fix the roof, he says his mom was scared and overwhelmed -- and so was he. "My dad wasn't paying child support, and my mom was trying to run her own business as a sales rep," he says. "It was scary. Things were really tight."

But that fear of financial failure didn't last. Years later, Robbins and his wife Michelle found themselves $105,000 in debt and $300,000 underwater on a mortgage.

"We'd never been taught the real basics about finances -- how to make and stick to a budget -- and we consistently spent just a little more than we made for many, many years," Robbins admits. "And we bought a house we really couldn't afford. When the economy tanked, we were in a world of hurt."

Ultimately, the Robbins liquidated their house in a short sale, paid off all the debt and started renting again. It was humbling, but necessary.
