Butterfly   Low oil prices in world markets

Wednesday 21 July 2021......Oil prices fell today, Wednesday, after an industrial report showed an unexpected increase in US oil stocks last week, which raised fears of a re-emergence of Covid-19 infections, which could weaken demand for fuel.

By this morning, Brent crude futures fell 47 cents, or 0.68%, to $68.88 a barrel, giving up Tuesday's 1.1% gain. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures were down 50 cents, or 0.7%, at $66.70 a barrel, after rising $1 on Tuesday.

US crude inventories rose by 806,000 barrels for the week ending July 16, according to two market sources citing figures from the American Petroleum Institute.

"The fear of Delta is firmly in control of the oil market sentiment, after putting a big question mark about the demand recovery narrative in the past several weeks," said Vandana Hari, energy analyst at Vanda Insights.

butterfly  Al-Rafidain Bank announces an increase in the percentage of financial interest on deposits

Wednesday 21 July 2021......Al-Rafidain Bank announced that opening savings and current accounts for citizens will be in the bank’s branches, in order to deposit their money in the bank instead of hoarding it in homes and obtaining rewarding financial returns.

The bank's media office said in a statement that it was decided to increase the interest rate on six-month deposits to 4.5 percent, as well as increasing the interest rate on fixed deposits for a period of one year to 5.5 percent.

The statement added that the interest rate on deposits for two years was increased to 6.5 percent.

Wednesday 21 July 2021.....Today, Wednesday, local markets witnessed stability in the dollar exchange rates.

The selling price of the dollar in banking shops amounted to 148.750 dinars per 100 dollars, while the purchase prices settled at 148.250 dinars per 100 dollars.

butterfly   IMF Report into Iraq's Customs and Tariffs.......21st July 2021.........The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has published a new report into Iraq's customs and tariff arrangements.

This report summarizes key findings and recommendations from a remote technical assistance (TA) assignment performed by a short-term expert (STX), Mr. Djamel Bouhabel, from January 17 to February 4, 2021, to the General Customs Authority of Iraq (GCA).

The main objective of the TA was to advise GCA on the development and effective application of customs assessment processes based on international standards and best practices.  (Source: IMF)

butterfly   Iraq, Saudi discuss Cooperation in Economy and Investment............21st July 2021....On Monday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi received the Saudi Minister of Commerce, Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they discussed the development of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Riyadh, and ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy and investment, and to work to enhance and develop the inter-trade movement.   (Source: Govt of Iraq)

butterfly   Seven Power Plants For Oil Refineries In Iraq...........21st July 2021......The Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) and Kunz have been selected to contract and design seven power plants (14 gensets) for several oil refineries in Iraq.

The generated power contributes to the start and back-up process of these refineries and is independently generated by two gensets on each site.

The complete gensets were designed and assembled in the factory of ABC in Ghent, Belgium. In 2015 these gensets were shipped and installed in Iraq. Today, the complete plants of Al Kesik, Kirkuk 1 and Al Qayara 1 are commissioned. Kirkuk 2, Al Qayara 2, Al Sinya and Haditha will follow soon.

Zig   sheila : A great "problem" we all should have: having to negotiate what % the bank will take for exchanging our currencies....probably the more currency you have the better the deal.....
