butterfly   Finnish contribution to a UN program to restore stability to the liberated areas of Iraq

Monday 20 December 2021 21:29 The United Nations Development Program in Iraq has welcomed an additional contribution of 1.5 million euros (1.7 million US dollars) from the Government of Finland to its flagship programme, the Stabilization Program for Liberated Areas.

A statement of the program stated: This important support will enhance the ongoing efforts to achieve stability in the five governorates liberated from ISIS, indicating that since 2015, the Stabilization Program for the liberated areas has provided support to 3,000 projects.

He added: With this support, basic services have been restored, livelihoods have been supported, as well as building municipal capacities and strengthening cohesion in areas liberated from ISIS.

The statement quoted the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program in Iraq, Zina Ali Ahmed, as saying: The ability of the United Nations Development Program to achieve the highest standards in work and speed in implementation on a large scale makes us the best choice to be development partners. This would not have been possible without the continuous and generous support of international partners such as the Government of Finland.

She added, "The urgent stabilization needs remain as there are still more than one million internally displaced people, including the population whose return is the most difficult."

She continued, "The contribution of the government of Finland comes at an important time in Iraq's recovery from years of conflict, as the country looks to protect its hard-earned stability gains and prevent the re-emergence of ISIS."

butterfly   For his part, Finnish Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Phil Skinari said: Finland has supported the program since 2016 and we are proud to renew our commitment.

He added, "The United Nations Development Program and its partners have achieved many tangible results during these years, but Iraq still faces many challenges." Finland is a long-term partner, and its support is solution-oriented for Iraq.

It is estimated that the projects of the stabilization program for the liberated areas have provided benefit to more than 6 million individuals in the targeted areas, and the benefit extended to cover 17.5 million people as well, mostly in Nineveh and Salah al-Din, and in sectors such as electricity, health and water. https://ninanews.com/Website/News/Details?key=945952

butterfly   Cougar: Iraq Will Enter An Administrative And Economic Crisis At The End Of This Year

ECONOMIC  2021/12/20 | 7:11 PM  The former member of the Finance Committee and the winning candidate in the early elections, Jamal Cougar, confirmed today, Monday, that the country will enter an administrative and economic crisis at the end of this year.

Cougar said in a statement to the "Information" agency, "The meeting of the caretaker government with no budget leads to a significant lack of administrative and economic powers in running the country's daily affairs and concluding investment agreements and service projects."

He added, "The caretaker government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi is a government that lacks authority and manages daily business only and cannot conclude agreements that serve the state and the citizen," noting that "the legislation of the 2022 budget depends on the formation of the new government."

Cougar pointed out that "the fiscal year ends at the end of the 31st of this month, and the effective financial management law begins directly, i.e. from the first day of January 2022 with spending at a rate of 1/12 of the actual ongoing expenditures for the year 2021."

He pointed out that "the political forces are required to find understandings and agreements in order to speed up the formation of the government and convene Parliament to approve the 2022 budget in order to keep the country's economic affairs in line."

Earlier, the economic advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, revealed the completion of the draft budget for next year, explaining that the budget will include a hypothetical deficit that will be paid from the money of the oil price difference. https://almaalomah.me/2021/12/20/571955/

NORV    Bobby Cahill Yes allaq did declare they were free of restrictions...but that was while they were in compliance. They have since fallen out on the 2% rule numerous times, though currently they appear in compliance...for how long I do not know. One would have to go back and look at the auctions to see the time frame, Non the less, nothing is happening with over 100 trillion in circulation and little investment in diversifying the economy.

Bobby Cahill   NORV Thanks appreciate that
