President Salih appoints Adnan Al Zurfi as Prime Minister designate. He now has 30 days to form his cabinet which he must then put to a vote of confidence in Iraq's fractious Parliament. The US approves him...he was verbally against the political leaders not listening to the demands of the citizens.
Al Zurfi was a former official of the US-run authorities that took over Iraq after the 2003 US invasion that deposed former ruler Saddam Hussein.
Al Zurfi has deep ties that favor the US and he may face a very difficult time from the blocs.
Hezbollah is still in the streets firing guns and claiming victory over the withdrawal of US troops from the military bases.
4:00 PM - Al Zurfi, the new Prime Minister designate, is facing staunch opposition from the blocs, President Salih may refer the matter to the federal courts for final resolution.

Pimpy ...it's interesting that the Iraq Stock Exchange said it will not organize trading sessions and stop trading activities in securities as of tomorrow...I saw another article that said they would not reopen until March 22nd...Is that a date that just keeps magically popping up?... I do know the stock exchange has stopped its activity. Why? That's a good question. They're gonna say it's the oil crisis but even so that shouldn't stop people from going ahead and working with the stock exchange as far as buying from home...Does this mean anything? Maybe they are making the adjustments for the new rate.

On Sunday, Ikhlas Al-Dulaimi, a member of the parliamentary finance committee, confirmed that no general agreement had been reached on the draft federal budget law for 2027, despite it being presented during the State Administration Coalition meeting yesterday.
Al-Dulaimi told Shafaq News Agency that the draft budget needs some amendments, noting that there is currently no government agreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, as well as objections to the region’s share in the budget.

The Central Bank of Iraq has directed all licensed banks to implement updated scenarios for monitoring suspected cases of money laundering and terrorist financing, setting the end of December 2026 as the deadline for completing their activation on anti-money laundering (AML) systems.
The bank explained that the update is based on international standards, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations and Iraqi legislation, taking into account technological developments and financial products currently in use.
