Tishwash:   Iraq among the top 5 oil producers in 2020

Iraq is one of the founding members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, and its oil production is more than four million barrels per day.

According to the report of the US Energy Information Administration, and seen by Shafak News Agency, about 100 countries produce crude oil, however, in 2020, five countries accounted for about 50% of the total crude oil production in the world.

The report added that "the five largest crude oil producers and their percentage of global crude oil production in 2020 were as follows: USA 15%, Russia 13%, Saudi Arabia 12%, Iraq 6%, Canada 5%."

He pointed out that "Iraq's oil production increased from 1.310 million barrels per day in 2003 to 4.100 million barrels per day in 2021, while the production of the United States increased from 5.650 million barrels per day in 2003 to 11.310 million barrels per day in 2021, while Saudi production increased From 8.770 million barrels to 9.620 million barrels per day in 2021.”

 He added, "Russia's production rose from 8.130 million barrels per day to 9.870 million barrels per day in 2021, while Canada's production rose from 2,320 million barrels per day to 4.200 million barrels per day in 2021."   link

Tishwash:  The arrival of the Iraqi Foreign Minister to Washington to hold the fourth session of the strategic dialogue between the two countries

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, on Tuesday, the arrival of the Iraqi negotiating delegation to the American capital, Washington, to hold the fourth strategic dialogue session between the two countries, which is scheduled to take place next Friday.

A spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said in a statement that, " Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived today in the American capital, Washington, at the head of the negotiating delegation to hold the fourth round of strategic dialogue scheduled to take place on July 23 between Iraq and the United States of America.

 He added, "The Iraqi delegation will be headed in this round of negotiations by Mr. Fouad Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and

the US delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken."

 He pointed out that "this round of negotiations comes as a prelude to the dialogue that will be led by His Excellency Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi on the Iraqi side, and on the American side, US President Joe Biden."

And the White House announced, on Saturday, that President Joe Biden will host Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi at the White House on July 26.

A senior US administration official said, "President Joe Biden will host Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi at the White House on July 26."

On Thursday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi discussed with a US government delegation headed by the White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk the mechanisms for withdrawing combat forces from Iraq and enhancing its security and sovereignty.

Last month, Washington and Baghdad agreed on a plan that includes specific mechanisms and timings to complete the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq.

During the third round of the strategic dialogue between the two countries on the seventh of last April, the two sides also reached an agreement to end the presence of US combat forces, limit the tasks of the remaining units on Iraqi soil to training, and enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields   link

Tishwash:   Al-Kazemi makes a televised call with the President of the European Council

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi had a televised call with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. The media office of the Prime Minister’s Office stated that, during the call, they discussed relations between Iraq and the European Union and ways to develop them, and discussed the file of Iraqi refugees and displaced persons, and addressing the problems they face and ways for them to return to their homes after securing the appropriate conditions for that.

According to the statement, Al-Kazemi expressed Iraq’s adherence to the approach of the best strategic relations with European countries, developing the level of economic and commercial cooperation with major European companies, and benefiting from the European experience in post-war advancement and presenting it as a model for development, as happened after World War II.

 He affirmed his aspiration for the European Union to support the reforms undertaken by the government within the framework of the White Paper, which includes financial, economic and institutional reforms, and the major challenges it faces;

Because there are many parties affected by it. The call also discussed cooperation with the European Union in efforts to combat corruption and money laundering.

For his part, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, stressed his quest to develop relations with Iraq, and his keenness to establish a real partnership with it, pointing also to the European Council’s support for the parliamentary elections scheduled for next October.

Michel praised Iraq’s growing regional role, and indicated that the European Council considers Iraq a primary and preferred partner in the region.  link
