“Praise” The Government’s Actions.. Al-Kazemi’s Advisor Talks About Steps To Support Market Stability

Posted On2022-03-22 By Sotaliraq   Today, Tuesday, the financial advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, identified three immediate solutions to combat inflation in Iraq, and while he expected new parliamentary-governmental measures to support the poor classes during the coming period and market stability, he stressed that the government’s response to monopolistic tendencies was “positive.”

Salih said that "there are three immediate solutions to combat inflation activities at the present time in Iraq, which is to enhance the cash income of the poor and social welfare groups, as well as for small employees, and to strengthen and support the ration card."

Saleh added, "Whenever there are large state activities related to the poor classes, the greater their impact will be," expecting "measures that will be taken during the next month between the executive and legislative authorities to support prices and also financial support for the poor classes."

Saleh pointed out that "prices in the markets have now stabilized after the government's response was important and positive by announcing support and providing cheap goods to the masses, which will reduce the market and confront monopolists as long as the state interferes in inflationary activities, as well as the role of control and confronting monopoly."

Al-Kazemi’s financial advisor confirmed that “there are strong monopolistic tendencies in Iraq for some traders to obtain profits without paying attention to people, but at the same time, the state’s revenues are high at the present time and easily subsidize goods, and therefore there will be a fight against inflation activities in Iraq in general.”

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Planning announced on March 7 that the annual inflation increased during the month of January to 5.3 percent as a result of the rise in the price of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar. LINK

Deputy: Saturday's Session Will Reveal The Sizes Of The Political Blocs, And These Are The Conditions For Independents To Attend

Tuesday, 22 March 2022 1:22 PM   National News Center /NNC/   Independent MP Adnan Al-Jabri confirmed, today, Tuesday, that the presidential election session scheduled to be held next Saturday, will reveal the sizes of the political blocs, while he announced the conditions of independent representatives in exchange for their attendance.

Al-Jabri told the National News Center that “every independent person has his own opinion and position on whether or not to attend the presidential election session,” noting that “the attendance itself is a pass for the Kurdistan Democratic Party candidate, given that the votes that qualify him to win the second session are available, but It depends on the session holding a two-thirds quorum.”

He added, "The mere presence is considered support and backing for the candidate for the presidency of the republic, even if one of them did not vote," adding:

"Therefore, we demanded, through the media and official channels, that there be clarity in the vision of the tripartite alliance and the adoptions of the Kurdistan Democratic Party candidate for the presidency, especially with regard to controversial issues between The center, the region, the oil of Kurdistan, the decisions of the Federal Court, the position on federalism in general, the victims of the protests, whether from the security forces or the protesters, as well as what is related to the Mina Al-Faw project, the Silk Road, and the dues of the productive provinces, given that the President of the Republic passes the Prime Minister through the tripartite alliance.

He explained, "It is very difficult to complete the quorum during the presidential election session unless there is an agreement with the Shiite parties," noting that "the negotiations reached a dead end and this is very clear."

He pointed out that “the tripartite alliance has no comfort in holding the parliament session with a full quorum,” noting that “the Saturday session will be a session to test the sizes, as if the session is held with a full quorum, the tripartite alliance will proceed to form the government, otherwise it will have to conduct more negotiations. Seriousness with the other parties to hold another session and pass the President of the Republic.” https://nnciraq.com/118248/

According to the statement, Abdul-Jabbar stressed, "Iraq's commitment to implement its plans to adopt the clean and renewable energy program and to continue projects for optimal investment of gas associated with oil production operations and the development of gas fields in order to reduce emissions and protect the environment and climate."

He pointed out that "Iraq, in more than one international conference and forum, affirmed its commitment to the determinants of reducing and reducing carbon emissions through the implementation of a number of projects in the field of gas investment and gas field development, as well as projects to adopt solar energy in the production of electric power," noting that "more than A contract for the implementation of these projects with international companies specialized in the field of clean energy, including companies (French Total and a consortium group with the Norwegian company SCATEC and the UAE’s Masdar).

He explained that "the Ministry of Oil is keen to develop gas fields and implement a strategic program to increase the production of free and natural gas and invest associated gas, whose investment rates have reached high rates, leading to stopping burning in the very near future," praising "the efforts aimed at helping Iraq implement projects for clean and renewable energy."

Through continuous studies and holding workshops and conferences through which modern methods in the clean energy industry are discussed and discussed, including the work of the conference today with (GE) in order to find out the latest developments in clean energy production and its uses to reduce emissions, reduce the use of fossil fuels and reduce financial costs to support the economy national and sustainable development.

For his part, "adviser to the Ministry of Oil for Energy Affairs, Abdul Baqi Khalaf, confirmed the ministry's interest in the uses of clean energy despite the challenges facing this file in Iraq and the world," noting "the ministry's keenness to implement the strategy of transition towards renewable energy through cooperation with specialized international companies."

Therefore, accelerating the pace of transformation in the energy sector in Iraq requires adopting a comprehensive approach that includes many sources of fuel and mobilizing efforts to decarbonize the entire energy sector, starting from improving the ways of extracting and transporting resources, to the processes of energy generation, transmission, distribution and consumption,

noting that "General Electric has provided, over the years, its comprehensive solutions to support the Iraqi energy sector, including providing advanced technologies, establishing and modernizing power plants, linking them to the transmission and distribution network, and securing funding sources for the development of the sector’s infrastructure. During the conference, GE presented an integrated roadmap to support the transformation of the energy sector in Iraq by focusing on specific axes and areas, which include:

1. Using associated gas for power generation: Iraq can benefit from associated gas to generate more than 13 kilowatts of electric power, which Which caters to up to 15 million homes in the country.

2. Switching from simple to combined cycle: Converting electric power plants from simple to combined cycle helps improve power generation efficiency by up to 50%, and reduce emissions intensity by 35%. GE estimates that if this solution were implemented at 19 different sites, total power generation could increase by 5.3 kilowatts over 4 years without the need to burn more fuel.

3. Using hydrogen for power generation, and deploying CCS technologies: Using hydrogen to power power plants and/or adopting CCS solutions, in the future, could reduce emissions rates to near zero levels in the long term. GE has more than 100 units worldwide that run entirely or partially using hydrogen and have collectively recorded more than 8 million man-hours, and many of GE's Model B, E and F turbines in Iraq can be modified to use 100% hydrogen in its operations.
