A Population Explosion In Iraq .. The United Nations Warns And Planning Issues A Shocking Response
political| 03:35 - 02/02/2022 Special - Mawazine News, the Ministry of Planning responded, on Wednesday, to a United Nations report on an explosive increase in the number of Iraq's population.
Ministry spokesman Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi said in an exclusive interview with Mawazine News, "We are against the term population explosion, which has been used incorrectly in a situation similar to the situation in Iraq."
Al-Hindawi indicated that Iraq is not facing a large population increase, on the contrary, it is facing a population increase with a low decline. If the increase is compared to an increase 10 years ago, we find that there is a noticeable decrease.
The United Nations Population Fund, on Tuesday, warned of the acceleration of population growth in Iraq.
The representative of the Fund in Iraq, Rita Columbia, said that the accelerated population growth will double the youth segment to more than 60 percent of the Iraqi population.
Colombia added, in a statement to the official Al-Sabah newspaper, that Iraq needs many interventions to accommodate the rapid increase in its population.
She explained, "If attention is paid to the issues of family planning, youth empowerment and reproductive health programs, Iraq may be able to control population growth and invest human capital in development and jump to improve the economic conditions in the country."
Colombia called on Iraqi families to plan and learn to control their expansion and growth by adopting the tools and methods of contraception, while having access to economic opportunities that allow the healthy development of children. Ended 29/R77 https://www.mawazin.net/Details.aspx?jimare=183458
