Vote For The President Next Week

Posted On2022-03-10 By Sotaliraq  Baghdad: Muhannad Abd al-Wahhab   Sulaymaniyah: Muhammad al-Baghdadi    Politicians suggested that the new session of the House of Representatives next week would witness a vote on the post of President of the Republic after the nomination was closed and the preparation for publishing the final list of accepted candidates, while the political differences continued in the Kurdish House between the two main parties, the Democratic Party and the National Union, and in a longitudinal manner between the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement, both with this The matter or other issues related to the formation of the government and the assignment of the candidate of the largest bloc. 

Representative Amir Al-Maamouri said: “Discussions are still ongoing between the political blocs,” noting that “setting a session to vote on the candidate of the President of the Republic is still early because the period for verifying the candidates’ information has not yet been completed,” explaining that “the two Kurdish parties are still discussing this file.” However, so far, no outcomes have emerged from those discussions.

He pointed out that "the next session of the House of Representatives must decide the vote on the position of the President of the Republic until the political process proceeds, and all papers will be presented in this session."

He explained that "what is required of the Presidency of Parliament, after examining the papers of applicants for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic, is to determine the day of the session subject to political consensus, and in all cases, the Presidency of Parliament is obligated to set the session for a period not exceeding next week."

For his part, political analyst Ghaleb Al-Damay stated that “the holding of the session is preceded by consensus between the political blocs, and the result is likely to be held next week, because the nomination period ended yesterday and only audit remains.”

Al-Daami added in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “it is likely that the vote on the President of the Republic will not end in the first session and may be delayed a little,” noting that “there is a large gap in understanding between the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement.”

And he indicated that "if we take the criterion of voting for the president of the republic, it confirms that the framework has a sufficient majority with the independents to pass the president of the republic, especially since the independents announced that they will not obstruct the formation of the government."

In addition, veteran Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman denied the news that he had been chosen as a compromise candidate for the post of President of the Republic, and confirmed, in a phone call with him, that "there is no truth to the news that talked about his selection as a compromise candidate between the two Kurdish Democratic and Patriotic Union parties."    LINK

OPEC + Records The Largest Production Gain In 7 Months, And Iraq's Commitment Exceeds 119%

Energy Economy News _ Baghdad   Thirteen OPEC countries raised their production by 480,000 barrels per day to 28.67 million barrels per day of crude oil during the month of February, while the nine non-OPEC partners pumped 14.07 million barrels per day, an increase of 80,000 barrels per day. 

In a survey seen by "Economy News", Standard & Poor's Global Platts said that more than a third of the total OPEC + gains of 560,000 barrels per day came from the three members exempt from quotas under the deal: Iran, Libya and Venezuela.

However, 14 of the 18 members with quotas did not meet their targets, indicating the group's dwindling spare capacity, as a result of which the OPEC+ compliance rate rose in February to 125.9%, the highest level since the group embarked on pandemic-induced cuts in May. / May 2020.

According to the survey, Iraq was one of the largest adherents of its quota, at 119.8 percent, bringing its production to 4.26 million barrels, which is less than its quota of 4.325 million barrels.

Saudi production amounted to 10.11 million barrels per day, with a commitment rate of 97 percent, and the UAE production was 2.95 million barrels per day, with a commitment rate of 98.2 percent, while Russia’s production amounted to 10.10 million barrels per day, with a commitment rate of 115.1 percent.

Oil Prices Are Rising Again

US West Texas Intermediate crude contracts jumped more than three dollars a barrel shortly after the start of trading, and it was traded up 1.90% at 110.23 dollars a barrel at 110.77 dollars. Brent crude futures rose 3.17% to $114.66 a barrel.

Yesterday, global oil prices recorded their largest decline since the early days of the Corona virus pandemic about two years ago, and Brent crude futures fell by more than 17% during the session before declining 16.84 dollars, or 13.2%, to reach at the settlement of 111.14 dollars a barrel, which is its worst drop in 1 day since April 21, 2020.
