Money Found Under The Wreckage Of The Central Bank In Mosul

Posted On 2021-10-20 By Sotaliraq  The Central Bank announced today, Monday, that it had found bags of money that leaked underground water during the opening of its vaults during the reconstruction of its branch in Nineveh.

The bank said in a statement that (Al-Mada) received a copy of it, that "after the Central Bank of Iraq started the reconstruction of its branch building in Mosul, the first phase was completed, which is to remove the damaged part of the building and remove the rubble."

He added, "During the work in the first phase, the Nineveh Operations Command was approached to assign a specialized force to examine the building, including the bank's vaults buried under the rubble, to ensure that they are free of any security threats."

He added, "A team has been formed headed by the Director of National Security in the province and the membership of a number of other security agencies, in addition to the Director General of the Central Bank of Iraq branch in Mosul. After the committee members attended this morning, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, to the site of the Central Bank building, the bank’s vaults were opened and a number of banknotes bags were found submerged in groundwater that leaked into the building as a result of the air strike on the building during the governorate’s disinfection operations.

The Central Bank Of Hard Currency Sales Exceed 155 Million Dollars

The Central Bank auction for the sale and purchase of foreign currencies witnessed an increase in its sales by 12.38% to reach 155 million, and 51 thousand and 898 US dollars covered by the bank at a base exchange rate of 1460 dinars per dollar.

The purchases amounting to 106 million, 342 thousand and 791 dollars went to enhance balances abroad in the form of remittances and credits, while the remaining amount of 49 million and 530 thousand dollars went in cash.

Dollar Exchange Rates In Local Markets Today

Market   Economy News _ Baghdad   Today, Wednesday, the dollar exchange rates witnessed a decrease in the local markets.

Where the selling prices of the dollar recorded 148.000 dinars per 100 dollars, while the purchase prices of the dollar recorded 147,500 dinars per 100 dollars.

And the Central Bank of Iraq decided earlier to adjust the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar, as the purchase price of the dollar from the Ministry of Finance amounted to 1450 dinars, and the price of selling it to banks was set at 1460 dinars per dollar, while the selling price to the citizen is 1470 dinars per dollar. The International Monetary Fund Expects Inflation In The Middle East To Rise To 12.9% By The End Of 2021
