The Consequences Of Disclosing The Volume Of Imports: 25 Billion Dollars Are Missing! Suspect

Posted On 2021-08-02 By Sotaliraq   The Ministry of Planning’s announcement of the volume of imports during 2020, which revealed that it was declining due to the Corona pandemic by 25% from 2019, and 58% compared to 2018, caused a great confusion among economists and those interested in economic affairs.

The Ministry of Planning said that Iraq imported $15 billion in 2020 imports.

However, by returning to the Central Bank's sales of foreign remittances related to import, Iraq transferred 40 billion dollars during 2020 abroad for the purpose of import.

Manar Al-Obaidi, who is interested in economic affairs, says that "the Ministry of Planning announces that the volume of imports to Iraq in 2020 amounted to only 15 billion dollars, and the Central Bank announces that the volume of remittances abroad during 2020 amounted to 40 billion dollars."

He added, "Turkey alone announced the volume of its exports to Iraq worth 9 billion dollars in 2020, in other words, Iraq turned 40 billion dollars for the purpose of import and received goods worth 15 billion," wondering about the fate of the other 25 billion dollars!

Despite the agreement of economic experts that there are imports entering through Kurdistan and the illegal outlets, it is unreasonable that the volume of these imports amounted to approximately 25 billion dollars and more than the value of official imports, which opens one other possibility, which is the smuggling of the dollar abroad under justifications And unofficial papers claiming to be remittances for the purpose of import.   LINK
