Kurdish Leader: Failure To Implement Article 140 Is Tantamount To Protecting "Saddam's Policies"

Posted On 2021-12-17 By Sotaliraq   The leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mullah Bakhtiar, stressed during his meeting with a group of Kakais in the Karmsir region, on Thursday, that pluralism is the basis of strength if there is a healthy democratic system, stressing that the failure to implement Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution is a protection for the Arabization policy followed by the previous regime. headed by Saddam Hussein.

In a statement, Bakhtiar said that he received a group of members of the Kakai sect in the Karmsir region and discussed with them cultural pluralism and coexistence, and considered differences as the basis for development, noting that if there was a government and a healthy democratic system, this pluralism is a basis for strength.

Bakhtiar pointed out that the Kakais, and because of the faith and belief they possess, have been subjected to great pressure throughout history, but they have been able to protect themselves, “and I personally prepare them from the pride of the Kurds, not only the Kakais, but the Yazidis, Shabak, and other doctrinal and ideological schools in Kurdistan who have preserved themselves.”

Bakhtiar said, "Let us seek, not only locally, but also at the regional and international level, to work seriously and more than before, and to prove with documents the great treachery that occurred in those areas. This treachery should not be accepted and must be ended," adding that after the fall of the former regime, the Iraqi government had to end this injustice. “.

Bakhtiar added, "Why are these people now protecting the Saddamist policies toward the Kurds? Why do they protect the policies of Arabization, deportation and displacement, and not implement Article 140 of the Constitution?” He added, “Failure to implement Article 140 means protecting the policies of the Baath and Saddam!”

Bakhtiar stressed that "those decisions were issued on the basis of Baathist chauvinism, and they are a threat to the Kurds and the disputed areas and must be abolished.   LINK
