Follow the Gold

By Reset Intelligence | @EXIT_FIAT

Scott Bessent went on Fox this week and put a number on the American gold. Over $1 trillion, present and accounted for, the largest pile held by any nation on earth. Then he said he has no plans to open the vault and check.

The Treasury’s own books still value that same gold at $11 billion. The gap between those two numbers is the story, and this week it stopped being quiet.

The Vault Gets a Number

On July 14 the Treasury Secretary told Fox the gold is present and accounted for and worth more than $1 trillion at current market value. Fort Knox holds 147,341,858 fine troy ounces, about 56% of the federal bullion. The rest sits at Denver, West Point and in the vault under the Fed in Manhattan. The last full physical audit was in 1953. Sceptics asked him to open the doors. He declined.

By law the Treasury still carries that same gold at $42.22 an ounce, a price Congress set in 1973 and never touched. That values the whole national pile near $11 billion. Bessent announced no revaluation. He read the market number out loud and left it there.

The Rails Get a Deadline

Kevin Warsh runs the Fed now. The GENIUS Act put dollar stablecoins under federal control, and the Fed has to publish the rulebook by Saturday. The CLARITY Act reached the House this week. The DTCC is moving $114 trillion of securities onto digital rails. What was background a month ago now runs on a calendar.

What Iraq Carries to the Door

The delegation – Iraq’s partial government spent this week in Washington asking to be let back inside the dollar system.

The blueprint – On Wednesday al-Zaidi sat down with World Bank president Ajay Banga and IFC head Makhtar Diop. They did not come with a cheque. They came with a plan: program-based budgets, a restructured banking sector, and a merger of state lenders into a single holding company.

The lock – Parliament seated 14 of his 23 ministers in May and stalled on the other 9, interior and defence among them. No complete cabinet, no budget. The dinar holds at 1,300 because that number lives in the budget and nowhere else.

The cash window – The central bank suspended a 2023 circular and let banks pay dollar deposits in cash again from July 15. Iraq was grey-listed by the Financial Action Task Force on June 19.

The deposits – Iraqi bank deposits fell from about $70.9 billion at the end of last year to $66.8 billion by April, with private savings leading the way down.

The Same Play in Caracas

Venezuela is further down the same road. Its oil money routes into accounts the US Treasury holds, and the State Department decides what flows back to Caracas. Roughly $8 billion of oil revenue in the first 4 months of this year. About $300 million of it actually reached Venezuela. The gold is moving through the same accounts.

A government counts its gold right before it intends to use it. The count is done.

This Is the Short Version

Those are the moves, and they are all on the public record. The daily briefing is where we connect them: what a vault count actually signals, the precedent for this exact play and how it ended last time, and what it means for anyone holding dinar. That runs every weekday.

Jon Dowling: Former Apple Co-Founder Reveals Why Gold Could Back the Next Economy

7-15-2026

In a recent episode of the Jon Dowling podcast, listeners were treated to a masterclass in monetary history and economic theory from Ronald G. Wayne.

An accomplished engineer, inventor, and author with a career spanning seven decades, Wayne brings a unique, long-term perspective to the current state of global finance.

His insights delve deep into the mechanical flaws of modern fiat currency systems, offering a sobering look at why he believes a return to “sound money”—specifically gold and silver—is not just preferable, but inevitable.

Wayne’s critique begins with a fundamental look at how money has evolved since World War II. He argues that the transition from gold-backed standards to fiat systems—currencies backed only by government decree—has created a cycle of perpetual inflation.

According to Wayne, governments are often politically motivated to print unlimited amounts of unbacked paper money to fund various initiatives. This lack of a “physical anchor” means that fiat currencies are destined to lose their purchasing power over time, eventually inflating to the point of worthlessness.

While history is littered with examples of localized hyperinflation, Wayne points out that our current situation is uniquely precarious. He describes the current economic climate as a “global reset.” In the past, when one nation’s currency failed, they could rely on stable trading partners to help stabilize their economy.

Today, however, Wayne observes a simultaneous collapse of fiat systems worldwide. With no external “sound” economies to act as a safety net, he suggests that the global financial infrastructure is approaching a breaking point, metaphorically describing it as “the roof caving in.”

To explain the disappearance of precious metals from daily use, Wayne cites Gresham’s Law: the economic principle that “bad money drives out good.” When governments introduce debased or unbacked currency into the market, people naturally hoard “good money” (gold and silver) because of its intrinsic value, while spending the “bad money” (fiat) as quickly as possible.

This explains why silver disappeared from common coinage decades ago. However, Wayne anticipates a reversal of this trend, where these hoarded metals will eventually resurface to form the foundation of a restructured, stable monetary system.

The conversation also touches on the rise of digital currencies and blockchain technology.

While Wayne acknowledges the innovation behind cryptocurrencies, he remains skeptical of them as a permanent replacement for precious metals. He categorizes many digital assets as “sideways moves”—temporary technological shifts that still lack the 2,500-year proven track record of gold and silver. Interestingly, he does discuss the possibility of a transition period where blockchain-backed assets, such as XRP, might facilitate a global reset, provided they are eventually anchored to tangible assets like gold and silver to prevent arbitrage and ensure cross-border stability.

Ultimately, Ronald G. Wayne’s message serves as both a warning and a guide for individual financial preservation. He estimates that the current fiat system could face a definitive crisis within the next three to five years.

For those looking to protect their wealth, his advice is rooted in history: acquire and hold physical gold and silver. By understanding the cycles of monetary history and the enduring value of precious metals, Wayne believes individuals can better prepare for a future where money is once again rooted in something tangible.

For a deeper dive into these economic principles and to hear Wayne’s full analysis, you can watch the complete interview on the Jon Dowling YouTube channel. It is a must-watch for anyone interested in the intersection of history, technology, and the future of global finance.

Good Afternoon Dinar Recaps,

Global Inflation Outlook Hangs in the Balance as Central Banks Weigh Next Move

Cooling inflation has eased immediate fears of additional interest-rate hikes, but ongoing geopolitical tensions and energy uncertainty continue to cloud the global economic outlook.

Overview

  • Global inflation pressures showed signs of easing, giving central banks greater flexibility on future interest-rate decisions.

  • Energy risks tied to the Middle East continue to threaten inflation and economic stability despite softer price data.

  • Financial markets are increasingly focused on whether policymakers can begin easing monetary policy without reigniting inflation.

Key Developments

1. Inflation Shows Signs of Cooling

Recent inflation data has been more encouraging than expected, helping calm fears that central banks would need to continue aggressively raising interest rates. While inflation remains above long-term targets in many economies, the pace of price increases has moderated.

2. Central Banks Remain Cautious

Officials from the Federal Reserve, European Central Bank, and Bank of England continue to emphasize caution. Policymakers want additional evidence that inflation is moving sustainably lower before considering interest-rate reductions, particularly with ongoing uncertainty surrounding energy prices.

3. Middle East Risks Continue to Influence Markets

The conflict involving Iran and continued uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz remain major variables for the global economy. Although oil prices have remained below their earlier peaks, renewed disruptions to energy supplies could quickly reverse recent progress on inflation.

Why It Matters

Inflation remains one of the most important drivers of the global financial system. Lower inflation increases the possibility that central banks may eventually reduce interest rates, supporting economic growth, improving credit conditions, and easing pressure on heavily indebted governments and consumers.

However, geopolitical risks continue to threaten that progress. Energy market disruptions remain capable of reigniting inflation, forcing policymakers to delay any shift toward easier monetary policy.

Why It Matters to Foreign Currency Holders

For those following the Global Financial Reset, inflation and interest-rate policy remain among the most important indicators to monitor.

Lower inflation could strengthen confidence in financial markets, support global liquidity, and encourage investment. At the same time, continued geopolitical uncertainty highlights how closely energy security, monetary policy, and currency stability are now connected within the evolving international financial system.

Implications for the Global Reset

  • Pillar 1: Debt

A sustained decline in inflation would improve the likelihood of lower interest rates, easing borrowing costs for governments, businesses, and consumers while reducing pressure from rising debt-service expenses.

  • Pillar 3: Assets

Expectations surrounding future interest-rate policy continue to influence global investment flows across bonds, equities, precious metals, and currencies.

  • Pillar 5: Energy

Continued instability in the Middle East demonstrates that energy markets remain a critical driver of inflation, economic growth, and financial stability worldwide.

Looking Ahead

Investors will closely watch upcoming inflation reports, labor market data, and central bank meetings for confirmation that inflation continues moving lower.

At the same time, developments in the Middle East remain an important wildcard. Any renewed disruption to global energy supplies could quickly alter inflation expectations and delay anticipated shifts in monetary policy.

This is not simply about inflation—it reflects the broader transformation of the global financial system as central bank policy, energy security, and capital flows increasingly shape the future of the world economy.

Oil Prices Slip On Hormuz Shipping Route Threats

2026-07-16 01:12    Shafaq News    Oil prices turned lower on Thursday as traders took profits and evaluated the risks from a new wave of U.S. strikes on Iranian military installations, which fuelled fears of renewed full-scale conflict and supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States struck Iran's coastal defences and missile sites on Wednesday after reimposing a naval blockade of its ports, while Iran threatened to shut off more regional energy exports, saying it was engaged in an "existential war" with America.

After initially rising for a fourth straight session, Brent crude futures slipped 24 cents, or 0.28%, to $84.95 a barrel as of 0435 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures fell 15 cents, or 0.19%, to $79.45 a barrel. Brent had gained almost $1 earlier in the session and both contracts remained close to one-month highs.

"Geopolitical risks remain firmly supportive for oil, but after a strong rally, traders are adopting a wait-and-watch approach," Phillip Nova senior market analyst Priyanka Sachdeva said. "The focus has shifted from the threat itself to whether there is any tangible disruption to oil flows and how both the U.S. and Iran choose to respond in the coming days."

Oil prices have gained this week as attacks deepened supply disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, which handled about a fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas trade before the war began.

Fewer vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, the first day after the U.S. reimposed its naval blockade on Iran. Seven crossed on Wednesday, down from 13 the previous day.

Hostilities between Iran and the U.S. reignited last week, fraying an already fragile truce reached in June after several months of fighting.

"While mediation efforts by neighbouring countries continue and the consensus view is that a full-scale war is unlikely, WTI could still rise to $85–$87 depending on how the conflict develops," said Hiroyuki Kikukawa, chief strategist of Nissan Securities Investment.

Analysts say Iran has signalled it may use its Houthi allies in Yemen to shut the Bab el-Mandeb gateway to the Red Sea, opening a new front against Washington and putting a second of the world's most vital energy arteries at risk.

Reuters also reported on Wednesday that U.S. officials said the strikes on Iran could pave the way for "more complex" operations against the country, adding to market jitters.

Goldman Sachs said Brent could exceed $110 in the fourth quarter if the Gulf export recovery continues to stall, but could fall into the $60s by year-end if tensions ease and production recovers faster than expected.

ING analysts cautioned in a note that the supply disruptions are flaring back up at a time when U.S. commercial oil inventories are at the lowest levels since 2022, and the lowest levels for the season since 2018.

"The concern is that renewed oil supply disruptions come amid the large inventory drawdowns through the second quarter, leaving the market more vulnerable."  (Reuters)https://www.shafaq.com/en/Economy/Oil-prices-slip-on-Hormuz-shipping-route-threats

Oil Generates Four-Fifths Of Iraq’s Revenue Through May

2026-07-16 08:25    Shafaq News- Baghdad  Oil revenues accounted for 84% of Iraq’s 33.747 trillion Iraqi dinars ($25.65B) in federal income through the end of May 2026, according to budget execution data released by the Finance Ministry.

The figures showed oil receipts reached 27.270 trillion dinars ($20.73B), while non-oil revenue totaled 6.477 trillion dinars ($4.92B), accounting for the remaining 16%. Read more: Iraq’s oil bottleneck: Abundance trapped by dependency

Government spending reached 45.070 trillion dinars ($34.25B) over the same period, comprising 41.908 trillion dinars ($31.85B) in current expenditure, 3.094 trillion dinars ($2.35B) for debt servicing, and 13.6 billion dinars ($10.34M) in capital expenditure.

Employee compensation, according to the data, remained the largest spending item at 25.556 trillion dinars ($19.42B), followed by 11.373 trillion dinars ($8.64B) for social welfare. Grants, subsidies, interest payments, and other allocations totaled 3.301 trillion dinars ($2.51B), while goods accounted for 1.542 trillion dinars ($1.17B) and services 108.3 billion dinars ($82.31M).

Investment spending stood at 1.627 trillion dinars ($1.24B), including 915.9 billion dinars ($696.08M) for the national investment program, 605.9 billion dinars ($460.48M) for regional development projects, and 71.4 billion dinars ($54.26M) for petrodollar-funded projects. Buildings and public services received the largest share at 992.4 billion dinars ($754.22M), followed by transport and communications with 269.5 billion dinars ($204.82M), industry with 249 billion dinars ($189.24M), education with 99.9 billion dinars ($75.92M), and agriculture with 15.9 billion dinars ($12.08M).

Iraq, OPEC’s second-largest oil producer, relies on crude exports for about 90% of federal revenue, a dependence that has come under growing pressure following disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which carries roughly one-fifth of global oil supplies. In late March, economic expert Nabil Al-Marsoumi estimated that the country had cut production by about 2.9 million barrels per day, the largest reduction among OPEC members.

The Dinar’s Way Back In

By Reset Intelligence | @EXIT_FIAT

This week Washington reopened one country’s access to dollars and froze another’s – from the same desk, inside 48 hours.

Iraq is being drawn back into the financial system. Iran is being locked further out of it.

Iraq’s dollar window reopens

On Wednesday, July 15, Iraq’s central bank issued an order letting local banks pay dollars out in cash again. It is not a giveaway. The cash only comes out once the bank parks the matching amount in an account overseas that Western regulators can watch. The governor who signed it is in Washington this week, sitting with the IMF and the assessors who decide whether the world will clear Iraqi money.

The freeze next door

One day earlier, the US Treasury sanctioned wallets tied to Iran’s central bank and froze over $130 million, part of nearly $1 billion clawed back since the war began. The same action hit more than 50 targets in the Shamkhani shipping network, pushing it past 200 designations.

The old way out gets welded shut

US Central Command put its blockade of Iran’s ports back in force, and Trump dropped the transit toll he had floated on the Strait of Hormuz in favour of shutting it outright. On Friday, Chevron signs a 2 million barrel a day pipeline from Basra to the Mediterranean, an export route that never touches the Strait.

The week’s moves, in one place:

Iraq CBI dollar order – live July 15, cash on incoming and export dollars, matched to a watched account abroad

Iran freeze – $130 million in central-bank wallets, nearly $1 billion since the war, Shamkhani network past 200 designations

Strait of Hormuz – blockade reimposed, the transit toll dropped

Chevron pipeline – 2 million barrels a day, Basra to the Mediterranean, signs Friday

DTCC – the $114 trillion it holds begins moving onto tokenised rails this month

That is the short version, and every move above is public. The daily briefing is where we connect them: why the dollar order is a compliance move and not a giveaway, what the freeze tells you about the sequence, and what any of it means for the dinar.

In 1948 the United States sorted the world with a chequebook, and the countries it let in spent the next 75 years rich. This week it sorted two central banks the same way. The only question history will ask is who saw it while it was actually happening.

Frank26   Question:  "How long do you think it'll take the float to go 1 to 1?" I don't know but it'll be quick.  Not years.  It'll be quick, the supply and demand.  When this happens...you're going to see everybody, the man on the moon, will be talking about it.  Because of that type of attention, oh my gosh, even whales and sharks would be willing to buy 1 million dinars now at $1 million because they know the potential of what is about to happen.  They have a small window.  They've got to move fast.

This is why this trip this week is like no other by no other prime minister...

Good Morning Dinar Recaps,

Fewer Vessels Transit Hormuz as U.S. Blockade Tightens Pressure on Global Trade

The renewed U.S. naval blockade and reduced shipping through the Strait of Hormuz are increasing pressure on global energy markets, trade flows, and alternative payment systems as geopolitical tensions continue to reshape international finance.

Overview

  • Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz declined sharply after the United States reinstated its naval blockade.

  • Higher transportation costs and energy risks are raising concerns about inflation, global supply chains, and international trade.

  • The prolonged disruption is renewing interest in alternative payment systems, including digital assets and non-dollar settlement mechanisms for sanctioned nations.

Key Developments

1. U.S. Blockade Reduces Shipping Through Hormuz

The United States reinstated its naval blockade, prompting a significant decline in vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy corridors. The blockade also includes a 20% reimbursement fee on cargo transiting under the security perimeter, increasing costs for shipping companies and energy importers.

2. Energy Markets Face Renewed Pressure

The Strait of Hormuz normally handles roughly one-fifth of global seaborne oil and liquefied natural gas exports. Reduced vessel traffic has renewed concerns over supply disruptions, placing upward pressure on oil prices and transportation costs while increasing uncertainty across global financial markets.

3. Alternative Payment Systems Gain Attention

With sanctions and shipping restrictions continuing, analysts note that countries under economic pressure may increasingly explore digital assets and alternative cross-border payment systems to facilitate international trade. While cryptocurrency remains a secondary factor, the broader trend reflects growing interest in reducing reliance on traditional financial channels during geopolitical crises.

Why It Matters

The renewed blockade demonstrates how quickly geopolitical conflict can disrupt global commerce. Higher shipping costs, elevated energy prices, and uncertainty surrounding one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints have implications for inflation, monetary policy, and international investment.

Continued instability also increases pressure on governments and businesses to diversify supply chains and modernize payment infrastructure capable of operating during periods of geopolitical disruption.

Why It Matters to Foreign Currency Holders

For foreign currency holders following developments related to the Global Financial Reset, disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz highlight the close relationship between energy security, international trade, and monetary policy.

Extended instability could delay interest-rate reductions, strengthen inflationary pressures, accelerate adoption of alternative payment systems, and encourage greater diversification away from traditional dollar-based settlement for some international transactions.

Implications for the Global Reset

  • Pillar 2: Trade

Higher shipping costs and reduced vessel traffic through one of the world's busiest maritime corridors threaten global supply chains and increase the cost of international commerce.

  • Pillar 3: Assets

Geopolitical uncertainty often increases investor demand for hard assets, while sanctions and financial restrictions continue encouraging exploration of alternative settlement systems and digital assets.

  • Pillar 5: Energy

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most strategic energy chokepoints. Any sustained disruption directly affects global oil and LNG markets, influencing inflation and economic stability worldwide.

Looking Ahead

Attention now turns to whether diplomatic efforts can resume after reports that recent ceasefire negotiations have stalled. Although earlier discussions sought to establish a broader framework for peace, no comprehensive agreement has been finalized, and military tensions remain elevated.

Markets will continue watching shipping volumes, energy prices, and any renewed diplomatic engagement for signs that stability may return to one of the world's most critical trade routes.

This is not simply about oil—it reflects the broader transformation of the global financial system as energy security, trade flows, and geopolitical power increasingly shape the future of the world economy.

🌱 A Message to Our Currency Holders🌱

If you’ve been holding foreign currency for many years, you were not foolish.
You were not wrong to believe the global financial system would change.

What failed was not your patience — it was the information you were given.

For years, dates, rumors, and personalities replaced facts, structure, and proof. “This week” predictions created cycles of hope and disappointment that were never based on how currencies actually change.

That is not your failure.

Our mission here is different:   • No dates • No rates • No hype • No gurus

Instead, we focus on:
• Verifiable developments • Institutional evidence
• Global financial structure • Where countries actually sit in the process

Currency value changes only come after sovereignty, trade, banking, settlement systems, and fiscal coordination are in place. History and institutions confirm this sequence.

You will see silence. You will see denials. That is not delay — that is discipline.

Protect your identity. Organize your documents.    Verify everything.
Never hand your discernment to anyone who cannot show proof.

You deserve truth — not timelines.

Iraq Economic News and Points To Ponder Thursday Morning 7-16-26

Unprecedented security measures accompanied the Iraqi Prime Minister's visit to Washington, causing the suspension of air traffic at Reagan Airport and the cancellation and delay of more than 400 flights

Washington -One News - 7/16/2026  The official visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to the US capital, Washington, turned into one of the most heavily secured foreign visits in recent months, after US authorities imposed exceptional measures that led to the suspension of air traffic at Ronald Reagan National Airport, one of the most sensitive airports and closest to federal institutions in the capital.

CBS News reported that takeoff and landing operations at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) were halted for several hours on Tuesday afternoon as part of security arrangements accompanying al-Zaidi's movements, given the security circumstances related to the ongoing war with Iran, which directly impacted air traffic.

According to the report, the measures caused the cancellation of at least 126 flights, while more than 300 other flights were delayed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., in one of the most significant disruptions the airport has witnessed this year as a result of security arrangements related to a visit by a foreign official.

These measures coincided with the Iraqi-American summit that brought together Al-Zaidi and US President Donald Trump at the White House, and received widespread political and media attention, especially in light of the friendly atmosphere that prevailed during the meeting.

Trump praised his relationship with the Iraqi Prime Minister, stressing that there was "tremendous chemistry" between them, before deciding to extend the meeting and inviting al-Zaidi to a luncheon that was not on the official visit schedule, in a move that reflected the level of rapprochement that characterized the talks between the two sides.

The visit comes at a stage described as one of the most sensitive in Iraqi-American relations, as it coincides with the approaching end of the international coalition’s mission in Iraq on September 30, and the Iraqi government’s continued implementation of its program to restrict weapons to the state, in addition to discussing security cooperation, energy, investment and economic partnership files.

Observers believe that the level of security measures accompanying the visit reflects the importance that American institutions have attached to the summit, whether due to the position of the Iraqi Prime Minister in the current regional equation, or due to the rapid security developments in the Middle East, which prompted Washington to adopt the highest levels of protection during the movements of the Iraqi delegation within the capital.

This is al-Zidi's first visit to the United States since assuming the premiership, and it is seen as a pivotal moment in reshaping relations between Baghdad and Washington, amidst rapidly changing regional dynamics and anticipated agreements on security, energy, and investment.     https://1news-iq.net/إجراءات-أمنية-غير-مسبوقة-رافقت-زيارة/

The "Axis Of Resistance" Is A Thing Of The Past After Al-Zaidi Entered The White House... And The Factions Are Worried About "Trump's Deception": He Wants To Overthrow The Iranian Regime

White House to meet with US President Donald Trump, armed factions in Iraq were monitoring the visit and keeping their finger on the trigger, amid a continuing escalation

Baghdad - One News - 7/16/2026   As Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi crossed the threshold of the between Washington and Tehran that has revived fears that Iraq could once again become an arena for regional conflict.

According to a report published by Al-Mada newspaper, political circles in Baghdad believe that the real test for Al-Zaidi will not be in Washington, but after his return to Iraq, and his ability to consolidate his government and implement its pledges, in light of the possibility of Iran and the factions associated with it moving to weaken or overthrow it.

Al-Zaidi arrived in Washington with a large political and economic delegation, where he met with US President Donald Trump at the White House and also met with the US Secretary of Defense, in a visit that focused on security, energy and investment issues, as well as the future of US forces and the issue of restricting weapons to the state.

Independent politician and former MP Mithal Al-Alusi said that the Trump administration is giving the visit exceptional attention and is seeking to confirm its support for Al-Zaidi as the head of a government that is moving towards political, military, security, financial and economic reform.

Al-Alousi criticized the size of the Iraqi delegation and its composition based on power-sharing, arguing that Washington expects a more independent government capable of changing the course of the state, not a reproduction of traditional party balances.

Al-Mada quoted a source close to the armed factions as saying that these groups doubt the September 30 deadline, which is supposed to mark the end of the US forces’ mission in conjunction with the implementation of the weapons control plan.

The source added that some factions believe that Trump is pushing to accelerate the delivery of weapons while he is preparing a broader plan to overthrow the Iranian regime, which is prompting them to keep their weapons and prepare for the possibility of escalation.

In Baghdad, security and political sources reported that authorities are monitoring the movements of between seven and ten factions believed to be directly linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and are conducting undisclosed investigations to determine whether they were involved in attacks targeting American sites in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

The sources warned that any new US strike against Iran could push some of these groups to move from waiting to direct engagement, threatening to bring Iraq back into the heart of the confrontation.

In contrast, Rahim Al-Aboudi, a member of the Wisdom Movement, said that the disarmament file has reached about 80 percent, and that between four and five factions still refuse to respond, while political sources doubted the seriousness of the handover operations, and said that some of them were limited to handing over old weapons while keeping ballistic missiles, drones and qualitative weapons.

Al-Zaidi is also visiting Washington weeks after the start of a campaign to pursue figures accused of corruption, and amid continued vacancies in the Interior and Defense Ministries.

Al-Alousi said that US financial authorities and anti-money laundering institutions are concerned about Iraqi funds located abroad, some of which are believed to belong to individuals and institutions linked to entities hostile to the United States.

He added that the most important issue for Washington remains al-Zaidi’s ability to confront the factions, remove weapons from outside the state, and enforce the law, considering that the delay in deciding on the two security ministries may be a message that they will be assigned to professional figures far removed from quotas.

Al-Alousi believes that the factions refusing to hand over weapons risk losing their political position, but he acknowledged that they are still capable of threatening the Iraqi interior.

He concluded by saying that the toughest test will begin after al-Zaidi's return to Baghdad, the selection of the Ministers of Interior and Defense, and the implementation of changes in the security apparatus.

He stressed that the success of the visit will not be measured by what was announced in Washington, but rather by the government's ability to fulfill its commitments regarding the issues of weapons, corruption, and reform.
