Political | 10:32 - 09/27/2022  Baghdad - Mawazine News, the candidate for the presidency of the Council of Ministers, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, confirmed today, Tuesday, that early elections will be held 18 months after the formation of the government, indicating that he attended tomorrow's session and did not vote on the resignation of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi.

Al-Sudani said in a televised interview, "I will hold early elections 18 months after the formation of the government," adding, "I will guarantee the Sadrist movement's electoral entitlement during my cabinet."

He added, "Our steps are well thought out, and tomorrow we will vote to reject the resignation of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, and then elect the first deputy speaker of the parliament, and then we will call on the Kurdish forces to agree on the presidency."

And regarding the program of the next government, Al-Sudani affirmed that he "handed over his government program to all the forces of the coordinating framework," noting, "I will bear the responsibility of the ministerial cabinet in the Council of Ministers."

As for the fight against corruption among the Sudanese, "I will go with the corrupt minister to the House of Representatives to open the interrogation, dismiss him and hold him accountable immediately," noting that "fighting corruption whales and recovering money is false and there is administrative corruption that the citizen faces in traffic, customs, taxes and departments."
