Samson:  Queen Elizabeth II has died, Buckingham Palace announces

8th September, 2022

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.

Her family gathered at her Scottish estate after concerns grew about her health earlier on Thursday.

The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.

With her death, her eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country in mourning as the new King and head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

"The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

All the Queen's children travelled to Balmoral, near Aberdeen, after doctors placed the Queen under medical supervision.

Her grandson, Prince William, is also there, with his brother, Prince Harry, on his way.

Obituary: A long life marked by a sense of duty

Queen Elizabeth II's tenure as head of state spanned post-war austerity, the transition from empire to Commonwealth, the end of the Cold War and the UK's entry into - and withdrawal from - the European Union.

Her reign spanned 15 prime ministers starting with Winston Churchill, born in 1874, and including Liz Truss, born 101 years later in 1975, and appointed by the Queen earlier this week.

She held weekly audiences with her prime minister throughout her reign.

At Buckingham Palace in London, crowds awaiting updates on the Queen's condition began crying as they heard of her death. The Union flag on top of the palace was lowered to half-mast at 18:30 BST.

The Queen was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, in Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926.

Few could have foreseen she would become monarch but in December 1936 her uncle, Edward VIII, abdicated from the throne to marry the twice-divorced American, Wallis Simpson.

Elizabeth's father became King George VI and, at age 10, Lilibet, as she was known in the family, became heir to the throne.

Within three years, Britain was at war with Nazi Germany. Elizabeth and her younger sister, Princess Margaret, spent much of wartime at Windsor Castle after their parents rejected suggestions they be evacuated to Canada.

After turning 18, Elizabeth spent five months with the Auxiliary Territorial Service and learned basic motor mechanic and driving skills. "I began to understand the esprit de corps that flourishes in the face of adversity," she recalled later.

Through the war, she exchanged letters with her third cousin, Philip, Prince of Greece, who was serving in the Royal Navy. Their romance blossomed and couple married at Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947, with the prince taking the title of Duke of Edinburgh.

She would later describe him as "my strength and stay" through 74 years of marriage, before his death in 2021, aged 99.  LINK

What happens now the Queen has died? Operation Unicorn is triggered after Her Majesty died at Balmoral not London as Royal Train is sent to convey her coffin back to London, Scottish Parliament is suspended and Britain enters 10 days of official mourning

As preparations get under way for funeral, the accession process for a new head of state begins immediately

Prince Charles is now effectively king, although protocol says he will be declared new monarch tomorrow

William is now heir, followed by eldest son George, daughter Charlotte and youngest son Louis

Prince Charles will be declared king at a meeting of the Accession Council, usually at St James' Palace

The Council is made up of all the Privy Counsellors, of whom there are hundreds

The death of the Queen in Scotland has triggered contingency plans known as Operation Unicorn.

Part of the long-held so-called London Bridge arrangements for the aftermath of Elizabeth's death, Unicorn sets in motion additional ceremonial events in Edinburgh ahead of the logistics of moving the Queen's coffin back to London.

The Earl Marshal who is in charge of the plans will, along with royal aides and the Government, be rapidly adjusting the overarching timetable to incorporate the Scottish element, as the military, clergy and police turn their attention to the immense practicalities.

The royal family has already made the urgent dash to Balmoral, with Charles - the new king - and the Queen's other children the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex at the monarch's bedside.

As preparations get under way for the funeral, the accession process for a new head of state begins immediately.

Prince Charles, 73, is now effectively king although protocol dictates that he is proclaimed as the new monarch the day after the Queen's death.

This will take place at a meeting of the Accession Council, which usually gathers at St James's Palace in London. The codename for King Charles’s accession to the throne is Operation Spring Tide.

Members of the royal family will be expected in the coming days to hold a poignant vigil around the Queen's coffin in St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh.

Also at Balmoral are the Duke of Cambridge, now the heir to the throne, and Camilla - the new Queen, and the Countess of Wessex. Initially, the Queen's coffin is expected to be at rest in the Ballroom at Balmoral.

The Scottish Parliament will be suspended, with Her Majesty's body expected to first be taken to Edinburgh on the Royal Train in a journey lasting more than five hours to lie at rest overnight in the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The following day her coffin will be carried up the Royal Mile to St Giles's Cathedral for a service of reception.

The Queen's children are expected to stage a vigil around the Queen's coffin - known as the Vigil of the Princes - while it lies in the cathedral. Members of the public are expected to be allowed in to file past the Queen's coffin to pay their respects.

The Queen's coffin will then be put on the Royal Train once again and be taken back to Buckingham Palace in London.

Another contingency plan, codenamed Operation Overstudy will be triggered if the journey is to be made by air, most likely flying the coffin on an aircraft of the Queen’s Flight to RAF Brize Norton or RAF Northholt.

Whether the coffin is borne by air or rail, it will be met by a reception committee of the Prime Minister and members of her Cabinet upon its arrival in London.

Once Her Majesty's body is back at Buckingham Palace, there will be eight further days of the official period of mourning that will end with her funeral at Westminster Abbey.

An extraordinary level of action will now be required by all arms of the British state, including a vast security operation to manage the unprecedented crowds and travel chaos that could see, in the words of one official memo, London might even be declared 'full'.

Al-Sadr Resolves The Decision To Return The Sadrist Bloc To Parliament And Supports The Survival Of Saleh And Al-Kazemi

Political | 03:17 - 08/09/2022  Baghdad - Mawazine News, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, decided the decision to return the Sadrist bloc to the House of Representatives, in what he considered that the decision to return is strictly prohibited.  Al-Sadr said in a statement transmitted by his minister, Salih Muhammad al-Iraqi, and Mawazine News received a copy of it, the text of which is below: "

Some of the lovers are seeking, through legal means, to return (the Sadrist bloc) to Parliament.

Before I give my opinion on this issue, I say:

It was the first desired result. Their withdrawal is to block all ways to come to terms with the so-called “coordination framework” as I do not agree with them at all. Then returning the bloc to Parliament has the possibility, even if weak, of finding this consensus.. It is forbidden by us,

and if it is prevented, their return will be a blockage. Politically again, if it is said: Their return is only for the sake of dissolving Parliament, not for the sake of agreement with them.

I say: If we go back, then the solution must be satisfactory to our Sunni and Kurdish allies, and I don't think it is.

We are aware of the many pressures on our allies..but sacrificing in order to end the suffering of an entire people is also commendable and required..it is the people, not the current, who refuse to turn faces and re-manufacture a corrupt government again. The ball is in the court of the allies, not the court of the Sadrist bloc.

As for the final opinion on the issue of the Sadrist bloc's return to the House of Representatives: it is absolutely and absolutely forbidden, under any pretext.

The corrupt rejects a government that is neither Eastern nor Western, with a national majority, and we categorically reject a consensual government.

The dissolution of Parliament is possible without the return of the Sadrist bloc, especially with the presence of its allies in the House of Representatives and some independents who so far are on the hill!!!

So I call on allies and independents to take a courageous stand to end the whole crisis.

The solution, then, will not be current, but rather the parliament will be nationalistic: Sunni, Shiite, Kurdish, and independents, so that the president and prime minister remain at the head of a caretaker government and to supervise early elections or with the help of others, Iraqis or internationals.

Hence, there is no need to resort to the current or the framework in solving the problem, for the keys are with the first to resolve and the contract, not with the (politicized judiciary), nor with (the fearful courts) nor with the (the withdrawing Sadrist bloc) (Salih Muhammad Al-Iraqi. https://www.mawazin.net/Details.aspx?jimare=204874

The Federal” Alludes To The Dissolution Of Parliament Due To “Disruption And Threat To The Interests Of Iraqis,” But Through The Constitution

Posted On2022-09-08 By Sotaliraq      Baghdad / Tamim Al-Hassan   In the worst "scenario", it was expected for the decision of the Federal Court, the latter refused to dissolve parliament, while the decision might anger the supporters of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr.

The "Federal" decision, which was delayed for hours after midday yesterday, indicated that the court does not have the powers to dissolve parliament and it is up to the constitutional mechanisms.

The court, in an attempt to grab the stick from the middle, alluded to "punishing" the parliament for "disrupting" and "threatening" the interests of the Iraqis, and suggested that the punishment be the dissolution of Parliament.

The concrete walls preceded the verdict, as it was seen placing a number of those walls near the government palace inside the Green Zone for fear of possible escalations.

In the first reaction of the Sadrists to the decision of the Federal Court, a deputy who resigned from the bloc considered that the decision was not surprising, and that Sadr's supporters will continue on the "path of reform."

The resigned MP Haider Al-Haddad said, “The Federal Court, which (explicitly violated) and (struggled in front of the text) and (made for its interpretations superior to the supremacy of the constitution and the law) by violating (the text) of Article (59) of the Constitution, which leads to a quorum (all) The sessions of the House of Representatives are held by the absolute majority of the number of its members, and made it (a majority of two thirds) to (create) the so-called (the blocking third) and rule the sovereignty of the quota and sharing system. !».

Al-Haddad added, attacking the court: "The court will not dissolve the council, and no one will care about that except the Sadrists. The path of reform is their path and (some) of those who joined them from the people...".

The Federal Court took about 3 hours to issue the final statement, as the session was held at 12 noon yesterday.

The court statement said that “the members of the House of Representatives after their election do not represent themselves or their political blocs, but rather the people, and therefore it was necessary for them to work to achieve what they were elected for, which is the interest of the people, not to be a reason to obstruct their interests and threaten their safety and the integrity of the country as a whole.”

She added that "the stability of the political process in Iraq requires everyone to abide by the provisions of the constitution and not to exceed it, and no authority may continue to exceed the constitutional terms indefinitely, because this is a violation of the constitution and a demolition of the political process completely and a threat to the security of the country and citizens," noting that "the penalty that The House of Representatives, for failing to carry out its constitutional duties, is required to dissolve the House when there are justifications for it.”

She stated that «the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005 has drawn up the constitutional mechanism for dissolving the House of Representatives in accordance with the provisions of Article (64 / first) of it», pointing out that «the powers of the Federal Supreme Court are specified under Article (93) of the Constitution and Article (4) of the Federal Court Law The Supreme Court does not include the dissolution of Parliament.”

She indicated that «the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq of 2005 did not overlook the regulation of the provisions of dissolving Parliament, and therefore there is no room for applying the theory of constitutional omission», explaining that «the purpose of the formation of the federal authorities is for the purpose of implementing what the constitution came with in accordance with the powers of each authority in order to ensure the basic principles that the The constitution and the protection of public rights and freedoms in accordance with the constitutional frameworks in a manner that ensures the preservation of civil peace and the unity of the country.”

She pointed out that «the general reality in the country is in a significant decline, whether at the service level or at the level of the spread of financial and administrative corruption, which has greatly affected the citizen's confidence in state institutions and significantly affected the standard of living of the people».

More than one political party filed a lawsuit before the Federalist Party to dissolve Parliament, including the Sadrist movement, whose audience, after the decision, hinted at the possibility of re-escalation after the "Forty visit".

The Sadrists had entered an unwritten truce with the coordinating framework after armed clashes took place last week in Al-Khadra, which left more than 30 dead and dozens wounded.

These events were followed by the formation of the political forces, what was known as the "road map committee" and called on the Sadrists to join it, after a summit meeting at the government palace last Monday

This «committee» seeks to put in place mechanisms for re-election, amending the polling law and the commission, and aspires to have the current represented within it.

Prior to the recent developments, there were differences within the coordination framework over the resumption of parliament's work and the selection of a new government, while the court's decision may now encourage the supportive team within the "framework" for those steps to proceed in forming a government.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, agreed on the importance of supporting the National Dialogue Initiative.

The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by Al-Mada that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi received today (yesterday) the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Plasschaert."

The statement added that "the meeting discussed developments in the political situation in Iraq, the state of political blockage in the country, and the efforts made by the government to contain the crisis and protect civil peace in the country."

He pointed to "emphasizing the importance of supporting the national dialogue initiative called for by the Prime Minister, and adopting the dialogue approach as the only way out of the current political crisis, and a guarantor of Iraq's security and the stability of the local arena, in a way that meets the citizens' demands and aspirations for a safe and dignified life."

[size=45]And the statement went on, that «the meeting witnessed discussions on strengthening cooperation mechanisms between Iraq and the United Nations Mission in various files that support stability and community peace».   LINK

The Framework Forces Are Proud Of Their Signatures To Resume The Work Of The House Of Representatives And Form The Government

Posted On2022-09-08 By Sotaliraq   Forces spoke within the coordinating framework about a signature campaign to resume the work of the legislative authority, stressing its ability to form a government, while the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, faces a lawsuit according to the anti-terrorism law brought by the Sadrist movement.

A member of the State of Law coalition, Wael Al-Rikabi, said that "there is a collection of parliamentary signatures, reaching 180 signatures for a parliamentary session."

Al-Rikabi added, "The political leaders, after the decision of the Federal Court, will have to speed up holding the session and choosing the President of the Republic and assigning the largest bloc to choose the prime minister and form the government."

He pointed out that "there are steps that must be taken before going to any option related to early elections, including amending the electoral law, and going for manual counting and sorting, and others."

Al-Rikabi revealed "the agreement to hold a session of the House of Representatives during the coming days, even before the fortieth visit," explaining the reason for this to "exceed the signatures that collected half plus one."

For his part, a member of the Al-Hikma Movement, Mortada Al-Mulla Jawad, said that the coordination framework has "reliability" by passing the government and the prime minister, adding that it is not possible to form a strong government without the support of all political forces for this government.

Mullah Jawad said, "There are sincere intentions on the part of all the forces of the coordination framework, as well as all the forces of the political process in Iraq, that there will be a solution to these accumulated problems that have reached their climax in the political process."

He continued, "We imagine that there is no end to these problems except through the formation of a strong government supported by all political forces."

Mullah Jawad pointed out that "the coordination framework has the comfort of passing the government and the prime minister, but there is faith that there is no strong government without the support of all political forces for this government."

He stressed, "All hands and hearts are open to the Sadrist bloc, but if we do not reach the gates of dialogue, the passage will be through the formation of a government, and therefore there will be a choice of the cabinet."

According to Mullah Jawad, "We are at the gates of imminent danger, which Al-Halbousi recently pointed out that once this year ends, there will be dire consequences for the Iraqi economy, and there is no funding to secure employee salaries."

He warned that "political problems will strike the depth of the Iraqi citizen's economy, and for this there is an actual and real tendency to end these existing problems through the gateway to finding a government."

As for the position of the Kurds and Sunnis regarding the current political crisis, Mullah Jawad indicated that “the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan emphasized resolving the issue of the President of the Republic, and there is a commitment to resolve the President of the Republic and come to Baghdad with only one candidate, and they also support the formation of a strong government that meets the aspirations of the citizen.” Iraqi," noting that "the Sunnis support an end to this accumulated controversy through the political process."

He also said, "We are still at our decision since the announcement of the election results, which is that we will not be a party to the formation of the next government, but we will be supportive and supportive that there will be a strong service government that meets the aspirations of the Iraqi citizen."

And Mullah Jawad concluded, "The problems in the Iraqi street are very big, including political, security, education, and the drying up of rivers, and these issues need a strong government to end all these problems."

On the other hand, the document showed that the case was submitted by the leader of the Sadrist movement, Nassar al-Rubaie, in his capacity as the head of the political bloc of the Sadrist movement, to the Karkh court against the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki.

The document stated that “the media circulated an audio recording belonging to al-Maliki, in which there was a clear and explicit threat to the Sadrist movement in general and to its leader Muqtada al-Sadr. Armed groups that are personally arming them to attack Kufa and Najaf, al-Sadr’s residence.”

Al-Rubaie added that Al-Maliki “mentioned offensive and offensive phrases directed at the masses of the movement, as he described the popular crowd as a nation of cowards, and described our armed forces and our national police in terms that do not befit their sacrifices, and also attacked the Shiite sect, and also stated that he is preparing to arm groups and clans outside the scope of the law and work to appoint them.”

In order for them to comply with his orders to carry out armed acts that threaten civil peace and national security and to create fighting among the people of the same country, to achieve personal ends.

He stressed that “all of this explains his clear plans through his speech in the audio recording, which expresses the great criminal and terrorist danger to threatening civil peace and national security and dismantling national cohesion. Iraqi social fabric.

Al-Rubaie called for “taking legal measures against the defendant based on the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Law, issuing an arrest warrant against him, issuing an order to prevent him from traveling and notifying airports and border crossings of that.”

And social networking sites published audio recordings attributed to al-Maliki, which showed him attacking a number of parties, especially the Sadrist movement and its leader Muqtada al-Sadr.   LINK

Barzani Pledges Acceptance Of Early Elections By Providing Their Grounds And Not Being Excluded

Posted On2022-09-08 By Sotaliraq    Yesterday, Wednesday, the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, set a condition for agreeing to hold early elections, which the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, had called for earlier.

Barzani, when receiving US Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf, in Erbil, said that “we have no objection to holding early elections, provided that the political and legal grounds are provided for them, that no party or component is marginalized, and that the results of any future elections are respected,” according to a statement by the office Barzani.

During the meeting, Barzani stressed that "the core issues between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad must be resolved within the framework of the constitution," stressing the need for "there should be a culture of acceptance of the other in Iraq to resolve issues, and no party should try to erase the other party and the constitution must be respected." .

The member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Wafaa Muhammad, had confirmed yesterday that "sitting at the table of any dialogue in which the Sadrist movement does not participate will not bring a result."

Muhammad continued, "Al-Kazemi had sponsored two meetings, but they did not witness the presence of representatives of the main actor of the political process, which is the Sadrist movement, and therefore all that came out does not show that there is a positive development."

He pointed out, "The political meetings, if attended by everyone, but the Sadrists missed them, will be considered for media marketing."

Muhammad finds, that «the only way to reach a solution is to persuade the Sadrists to sit at the dialogue table, otherwise those efforts will be unsuccessful».

He considered, "The initiative of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi is a very important qualitative leap, but it was rejected by the coordination framework, which he described as bias in favor of the tripartite alliance."

Muhammad cautioned that “this interpretation of the initiative is incorrect. It involves important issues, especially when he mentioned the necessity of solving problems between the federal government and the Kurdistan region.”

He finds, "This will encourage the Kurdish parties to attend the parliament session that will be devoted to electing the president of the republic."

Muhammad continued by saying, "In order for the Kurdistan Democratic Party to go to the presidential election session, the coordinating framework must sit with it and agree to implement the constitutional obligations for the Kurdistan region."   LINK

Al-Kazemi Visits The United States

Posted On2022-09-07 By Sotaliraq   Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi will visit the United States on September 26, to participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, rejecting a proposal presented to him during the second meeting of political leaders, not to make the visit, due to fear of renewed demonstrations in Baghdad.

According to information, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi informed the presidencies and political leaders during the second meeting of the National Dialogue, which was held on September 5, 2022, of his intention to visit the United States on September 26.

A participant in the meeting, he said, "A proposal was made to Mustafa Al-Kazemi, not to visit and send someone on his behalf, because of the possibility that the Tishrinists and the Sadrist movement would hold demonstrations, but Al-Kazemi told the gathering: It is important that I be present there."

The Iraqi Prime Minister had cut short his visit to Egypt on (23 August 2022), to participate in a summit with the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain and the UAE, after the Sadrist movement’s demonstrations in front of the Supreme Judicial Council, which were followed by dangerous developments that resulted in clashes that caused more than 30 dead and 500 wounded.

Al-Kazemi’s visit to the United States on September 26, if it takes place, will be his third to America, since he became prime minister in 2020. His last visit was on (July 26, 2022), during which he met with US President Joe Biden.

It is noteworthy that the leaders of the Iraqi national political forces decided, during the second meeting of the National Dialogue, to form a technical team from the various political forces to mature common visions and ideas on the roadmap for a national solution, renewing their call for the Sadrist movement to participate in the sessions and the need to achieve reform in the structure of the Iraqi state.

The conferees stressed the need to purify the atmosphere between the national forces, including preventing all forms of escalation, rejecting speeches that are issued or leaked and that cause damage to historical brotherly relations, and address them through available legal means, in a manner that preserves the dignity of the Iraqi people, their feelings, and their entitlements, and respect for religious and political considerations. , and social. An Economist Assures / Nina / The Importance Of Submitting The Management Of Customs Funds Collected To A Planning That Contributes To The Development Of Collection Operations

Wednesday 07, September 2022 10:39 | EconomicNumber of readings: 305

Baghdad / NINA / - The economic expert, Malath Al-Amin, stressed the importance of submitting the administration of the collected customs funds to an ambitious planning that contributes to the development of collection and monitoring of imported goods and subjecting them to the standardization and quality control system before imposing tax on them.

Al-Amin said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that customs in most countries represent an economic and health guard, as they prevent the entry of harmful goods such as drugs and expired food products, and contribute to reviving the economy by imposing taxes on imported goods that are similar to them in the country.

He added: Customs in all countries of the world plays an important role in the development of the economy, and its management is linked to the state’s economic policy, as its revenues constitute an important space in the budgets of most countries, as non-producing industrially and agriculturally countries depend on those revenues to cover their operational financial budgets as the salaries of their employees and to ensure the provision of services to citizens.

And he indicated that "the customs rates imposed in non-industrial countries may rise so that the imported goods will be a burden on most citizens who are unable to buy them or benefit from them, which requires these countries to take into account the citizen's need for these goods with the rate of customs tax imposed and the balance between them."

He pointed out that "the customs revenues in Iraq reached during the past year 2021 (1001413859817), one trillion and one billion four hundred and thirteen million eight hundred and fifty-nine thousand eight hundred and seventeen dinars, while its revenues in 2020 were (863161392512) eight hundred and sixty-three billion one hundred and sixty-one million three hundred and ninety-two.

One thousand five hundred and twelve dinars, due to raising the price of the dollar officially to 145 thousand dinars, after its price in the market was about 120 thousand dinars, which contributed to revitalizing the local market and increasing customs revenues, while at the same time drawing the attention of the industrial sector to the amount of profits that it will make as a result of manufacturing goods imported."

The Customs Authority had stated in a statement that it had achieved revenues of more than (99) billion dinars during the month of June 2022, in a precedent that was not recorded in the previous years for the same month.. which reflects Iraq's dependence on importing its needs of manufactured goods and agricultural crops, as well as indicating a defect In the national production sector and the citizen’s dependence on imported goods, which constitutes a normalization of the citizen’s taste in accepting the importer and giving him preference over the national product, even if the latter is better than the importer.

The Secretary stressed the need for the administration of the collected customs funds to be subject to an ambitious planning that contributes to the development of collection and control of imported goods and subjecting them to the standardization and quality control apparatus before imposing tax on them and allowing them to enter the local market.

To ensure the speedy issuance of the tax decision and its amount and to allow it to enter the borders or not to allow it to violate the controls in force, but we hear from time to time the detention of the customs yard for containers loaded with perishable materials for different periods, which exposes them to damage and the loss of capital owners who will refrain from dealing with the country what exposes the market It is necessary for the administration of the customs center to expedite taking administrative measures and inform the owner of the shipment of approval to enter or prevent it so that he does not incur losses or the shipment is damaged.”/ https://ninanews.com/Website/News/Details?Key=998757

Large Numbers Of Nineveh Farmers Abandon Their Lands Due To Drought

Posted On2022-09-08 By Sotaliraq   Translation: Hamed Ahmed   A report for the (The New Humanarian) news website dealt with the dangerous environmental consequences of the climate change conditions that the Iraqi agricultural lands are witnessing as a result of water scarcity, especially the wheat cultivation fields in Nineveh Governorate, which is the country's food basket of this important agricultural crop, noting that hundreds of agricultural families were forced to leave their lands. In search of another source of livelihood for them.

The report stated, "Shadi Qader's fingers, which were once covered with the soil of the agricultural lands of Nineveh, are now drenched with cement and his nails are stained with the remnants of building materials.

The report continued, "The 33-year-old, who has spent his life as a wheat farmer, is among thousands of other farmers who have recently left or are planning to leave the so-called Iraq Food Basket."

He pointed out, "Iraq, which was known as the land of Mesopotamia, where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers flow, making their way through its plains, irrigates its rich land, making it a profitable agricultural sector."

However, the report added, "Recent droughts are forcing farmers and their families, who have been left without income, to change their way of life."

He stressed, "The water scarcity is escalating significantly in Nineveh Governorate, the main supplier of wheat in the country, which increases the risk of food insecurity rates, which are already bad and have worsened due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine."

According to the latest information obtained last month from the International Migration Agency, between June and December of last year, 303 families in Nineveh, about 1,800 people, were forced to leave their homes due to drought, at a time when more than 34,000 people were displaced from their homes. Their areas are in southern and central Iraq due to the consequences of climate change, and this includes many of the people of Basra, which has been suffering from a lack of clean water for decades.”

Kader says, “I grew up working on farms to help my family. We used to harvest wheat every year, completely dependent on rainwater, and those were good relaxing times. But things have gotten worse over the past two years.”

And the report added, “With the decline in crops and the fluctuation of harvest seasons, it has become difficult for the farmer, Qader, to provide for his family’s needs over the years. Then in the year 2021, the owner of the farm where he works decided to sell his land, and with no choice but to search for another source of income, Qader moved with his family to Dohuk Governorate and engaged in construction work.”

Qader asserts, “I work twice a week, earning 30,000 dinars per day. It is more than one hour’s wages that he earned from working on the farm, but he made it clear that days passed when he did not get enough work to pay the costs of rent or provide food for his three children.”

Drought casts a shadow over the situation

The report pointed out that “while the United Nations ranked Iraq as one of the 5 most affected countries in the world by climate change, the rate of rainfall in Iraq last year was very low, making it the second driest season in four decades.

It is based on a statement issued by a group of United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations in June, which showed that this led to “water scarcity, desertification and soil erosion caused by unsustainable agricultural practices and damaged and shrinking vegetation.”

The report noted, "The temperatures this year were very high and the weather was also dry, and violent dust storms, which were repeated several times due to drought, desertification and lack of rain, caused thousands of people to be sent to hospitals in the month of May."

He finds, "Water scarcity is not only due to the lack of rain, but the countries from which the rivers originate in Turkey and Iran were building dams and thus caused a decrease in the flow of water to Iraq. This contributed to a sharp decline in water levels in the Tigris and Euphrates, which irrigate many of the region's crops."

The report expects, "The severe water scarcity in Nineveh will worsen, placing more burden on the decreasing surface water and weak agricultural production. The population census of the governorate, according to the latest statistic for 2018, is approximately 3.7 million."

Climate change is causing real challenges to farmers and to wheat production in general in Iraq, which is witnessing a significant decrease," said Amer Al-Mamouri, spokesman for the grain trade department at the Ministry of Commerce.

The report stated, "The ministry's figures indicate that local crops decreased from 5 million metric tons during the year 2020 to 3.37 million during the year 2021, and by 2022 they decreased again by more than half to only 1.34 million metric tons."

Anas Al-Tai, an agricultural consultant with the Mosul Eye website on the Facebook page concerned with the security, cultural and environmental situation of Mosul, the center of Nineveh Governorate, stated that “about 90% of the governorate’s arable plains have been affected by desertification,” noting that “desertification is not caused by a lack of rainfall only. Rather, the lack of adequate irrigation systems is another factor.”

Al-Taie added, "Only 10% of Nineveh farmers own mechanical water sprinklers, or they have lands very close to the waters of the Tigris River to be irrigated."

Al-Maamouri alluded to this problem, adding that "the farmers are still not adapting to the new weather conditions by using modern farming methods.

Al-Mamouri noted, "Most of the farmers of Nineveh continue to rely on traditional agricultural methods of sowing seeds and waiting for rain, without using wells for irrigation, as is the case in central and southern Iraq."

The report considered, “This means that when there is no rain, farmers like the farmer, Yosho Yohanna, 60 years old, from Al-Hamdaniya in the Nineveh Plain, have nothing to do, as he mentioned that he planted 250 dunums of wheat last year, but harvested only 17 dunams. during this spring. Yohanna added, “The grain harvest during the past two years was of poor quality due to drought and I had to sell it at a cheaper price, which hardly covered the costs of its cultivation.”

And the report stated, "John is thinking with ten other families from his area to sell their land and move to another place, and is thinking of joining his daughter in Sulaymaniyah, although he does not know what awaits him there."

John said, “I know nothing but agriculture, it is the profession that I have been accustomed to all my life and I inherited this land from my father. When I leave the farm, what do you expect me to do? I am an old man, how will I be able to save the cost of living?”

For his part, farmer Awab Ayoub, 55, from the Hamdania area, said that "the lack of rain means that the wheat that he planted this year is not even suitable to be fodder for livestock."

Ayoub pointed to the ears of wheat that he planted by saying, “The longer the spike, the better the quality of the grain. The other reason is the salinity of the soil, and the length of the spike does not reach its waist.”

The report stressed, “Farmers like Ayoub choose to sell their crops to private mills if their quality is good enough, while the government, according to several sources in the agricultural sector, buys poor types of wheat in the Iraqi market and mixes it with imported grains of better quality to sell at lower prices. to the public.”

He added that "the local production of wheat, while it decreased in Nineveh, the government increased the purchase price of local farmers by 30%, as a support for them and to ensure that their product would not be sold to the private mills."

Al-Mamouri returns to say, "The price has increased this year from 560,000 dinars per ton to 850 thousand dinars, which is higher than the price paid by the government for some imported types of wheat."

The report finds, "The future of farmers in Nineveh seems bleak, if droughts continue," adding that "farmer Ayoub, while under normal conditions, harvested nearly 100 tons of grain per season, he harvested only a third of that amount during this time." The year, while his son is currently covering his living costs, is betting whether he will grow anything again, and as is the case with many farmers, he is considering leaving his home as a last resort.”

The report goes to “Kamiran, 27, a farmer from Mosul who asked to be named only his first name. He said that he had no choice but to give up the land he inherited from his father, and he explained: I was spending more money on agriculture than the profit I got from it.”

He continued, "Kamiran is currently working as a cleaner in a hotel in Erbil to provide a livelihood for his mother and three sisters, expressing his regret for the drought crisis that changed his life completely."

The crisis caused my crops to dry up and left me nothing but memories of the years and work my father spent on this land," says Kameran. About: The Humanantarian website   LINK

Vietnam’s dong is on track to fall for the eighth straight month as the dollar pummels emerging-market currencies to fresh lows. The risk-sensitive Korean won is approaching the closely-watched 1400 mark, while the Chinese yuan is teetering on the edge of the key 7 per dollar level .

Vietnam set its reference rate for the dong at a record low, setting the stage for more weakness in the Southeast Asian nation’s currency

The State Bank of Vietnam set the currency fixing at 23,281 dong per dollar on Thursday, the weakest since at least 2005, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. That’s after the dong fell to the lowest in more than two years in the previous session.

“The dong is too strong at the moment for an export-oriented economy,” said Trinh Nguyen, a senior economist at Natixis SA in Hong Kong. “That said, they care about imports and inflation so won’t allow excessive depreciation.”

Nguyen forecasts the dong to approach 24,000 per dollar. The currency rose 0.1% to 23,585 per dollar on Thursday after falling to 23,615 on Wednesday, the lowest since March 2020.

The State Bank of Vietnam didn’t immediately respond to questions on the fixing. The central bank allows the dong to trade within a band of 3% on either side of the reference rate, which is based on eight currencies and is set every day.

Tishwash:  Baghdad loses control.. Kurdistan opens its doors to imported products and Iraq is drowning

Governmental weakness, lost control, nullified cooperation, smuggled territory, and conflicting Baghdad and Erbil relations affect a new sector, which is agriculture, or as it is called the “life” sector; As a result of its direct impact on the Iraqi people, there is a difference between two governments that will not care about a country that bleeds crises and not blood.

The Federal Integrity Commission has opened a new corruption, so the accused is the "regional government" and the default is "the Baghdad government", and the victim is one, the "citizen". The impact of the entry of agricultural products in “frightening” numbers through Kurdistan into the country, and in an uncontrolled way.

Earlier, the Integrity Commission confirmed in a statement received by / the information /, "The Ministry of Agriculture does not control the products entering through Kurdistan, and that the amount of materials entering through the region exceeds times the production capacity of its facilities, and this is an indication of the existence of corruption that accompanied the process of entering imported materials on It is a national product."

* Weak hip

The “Al-Mabkhout” government, within two years, worsened the situation of the country in all its aspects, starting with the politics, passing through the security file, which witnessed a clear deterioration, and not concluding with the economic file. Suffocate the people, in many ways.

Member of Parliament, Muhammad Karim, criticizes the joints of the caretaker government, stressing that it suffers from poor performance in all of its ministerial duties.

In an interview with "Information", Karim affirmed that "all joints of the government suffer from weak and poor performance, and there are real problems in all sectors, including the agricultural sector and the control of products, given the presence of lists that prevented the entry of products."

He adds that "the process of keeping pace with the market and its needs and studying it seriously and correcting the level of performance is not available," noting that "when decisions are taken, there must be committees for follow-up and evaluation before the decision is issued, given that it is one of the requirements of decision management and the ministry, but the real problem is These ministries cannot follow up on it, monitor it, correct its tracks, or modify it."

The member of the House of Representatives explains that "this is a real problem in dealing with the decisions issued or what suppresses the needs of the citizen and what he needs on a daily basis, whether from markets or from goods that are allowed to enter or that are prohibited in order to support the national product."

* There is no censor, no accountability

It is known that all state ministries are required to follow up on the simplest tasks entrusted to them, especially with the availability of all the necessary needs to perform their duty, but the “great catastrophe” finds the majority of the ministries of the current government do not know “when it rises and sets,” leaving its tasks without supervision or accountability.

Economist Dia Al-Mohsen asserts that "the Ministry of Agriculture cannot control the northern border crossings."

In an interview with the Information Agency, Al-Mohsen said, "Agriculture cannot control the northern border crossings, because it is the Kurdish parties that control these ports, especially there are unofficial ports through which they enter goods, commodities and agricultural products from Turkey for the benefit of the parties that control them." By taking a levy, it goes to its treasury.

He added, however, that "the situation seems to be uncontrollable in the absence of cooperation between northern Iraq and the Ministry of Agriculture, that is, the central government," adding: "It is necessary for the central government to take urgent measures, especially in the areas where Erbil has a long hand; To monitor these products through which it enters.

* Rudeness and recklessness

Despite the weakness of the central government and the relevant ministry, the matter does not go far beyond the extent of the "insolence" of the North Region, and the amount of its disregard for Baghdad.

The representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Muhammad Karim, returns to continue his speech, and reveals “there are more than 21 unofficial outlets in the Kurdistan region, calling on the government to implement these measures to control the entry of goods into the country.

And he shows that "the entry of goods from one side will greatly affect the rest of the regions, especially since the majority of goods enter through the Kurdistan region, due to the absence of controls, and the presence of customs facilities and unofficial ports, which exceed 21 ports, in addition to four ports controlled by the state and take from them fees".

And regarding the solutions necessary to address the problem, the member of the House of Representatives clarifies that “the problem of entering goods from the Kurdistan region is either done by automation and strictly imposing the system on all border crossings and giving powers to the Border Ports Authority to manage this file,” noting that “the other thing is to establish controls On the  borders of the governorates of the region to control the entry of these goods   link

Oil Prices Fall On Renewed Demand Concerns

Economie| 08:35 - 07/09/2022  Follow-up - Mawazine News:   Oil prices fell today, Wednesday, after Covid-19 restrictions in China and expectations of further interest rate hikes renewed fears of a global economic recession and reduced fuel demand growth.

Brent crude futures fell $1.12, or 1.2 percent, to $91.71 a barrel by 0113 GMT, after falling 3 percent in the previous session.

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell $1.25, or 1.4 percent, to $85.63 a barrel.

Oil's strong gains were pared on Monday after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and allies led by Russia, a group known as OPEC+, decided to cut production target in October by 100,000 barrels per day.    https://www.mawazin.net/Details.aspx?jimare=204740

Iraq's Oil Production Rises To 4.7 Million Barrels Per Day

Economie| 11:34 - 07/09/2022      Baghdad - Mawazine News, Iraq's production of crude oil increased by 67,000 barrels per day in August compared to July, but exports from the south of the country remained restricted due to delays in infrastructure modernization, according to data from the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO).

The data showed that Iraq produced 4.651 million barrels per day of crude in August, which is consistent with its share under the “OPEC +” agreement, but exports fell 62 thousand barrels per day, which prompted Baghdad to direct the surplus from August supplies to storage tanks and domestic consumption, According to Reuters.

The increase in exports of Basra Governorate in southern Iraq did not succeed in compensating for a decrease in shipments by 45,000 barrels per day from the Kurdistan region of Iraq, as the governorate’s exports rose by only 25,000 barrels per day from July to 3.25 million barrels per day in August.

Iraq's attempt to increase its export capacity through its Gulf ports has faced setbacks due to delays in upgrading pumping stations.

The state-owned Basra Oil Company planned to increase the south's export capacity to 3.35 million bpd in August and 3.45 million bpd by September, compared to about 3.3 million bpd now.

The new target for export came after the Basra Oil Company missed the scheduled date to reach 3.45 million barrels per day in the second quarter of its export capacity.

Contractors Demand The Mosul Government For 60 Billion Dinars Spent On Paper

Posted On2022-09-07 By Sotaliraq   Nineveh   After ten years of waiting, the contractors' money reached the banks in Nineveh, and the banks sent a letter to the concerned ministries and institutions that the contractors to whom the governorate owed billions had received their dues, but the story did not end there.

What is stranger than the long wait, is that dozens of contractors to whom the government owes about 60 billion dinars, gathered in front of the Nineveh Governorate building, stressing that they had not received a single dinar yet, and they demanded to reveal the fate of their money, and to which corrupt pocket it went.

Ahmed Salal, a contractor, told UTV, “The aim of our endowment is to receive our dues that have been more than 10 years old, and a part of them since 2012, and these dues were supposed to be paid 10 months ago, as they were released from Baghdad and the accounts and banks arrived in Nineveh, and now We want to know where the money went."

Contractors and workers in the building and construction sector contracting with the local government in Nineveh and its service departments face several problems, starting from the difficulty in obtaining contracts, most of which are referred to companies and contractors from outside the governorate, in addition to the difficulty of obtaining their money and rights owed by these departments and ministries.

The delay in disbursing the dues of contractors and companies operating in Nineveh Governorate after completing dozens of important strategic projects, raises doubts about the consequences of this delay and the beneficiaries of non-disbursement of their dues, especially after announcing their disbursement before it reaches its beneficiaries, as is happening today.   LINK

China Informs Shafak News Of The Details Of The Work Of Its Companies And The "Silk Road" In Iraq

Shafaq News / The Chinese ambassador to Iraq, "Cui Wei", affirmed on Wednesday his country's commitment to the fifth initiative for peaceful coexistence, including non-interference in Iraq's internal affairs, while noting that the "Chinese agreement" comes to enhance trade exchange between the two countries.

Wei said, in response to a question from Shafak News Agency correspondent, that "Iraq is for the people, and for any party or country in the world, to respect the choice of the Iraqi people," calling at the same time "the political parties and Iraqis, to find an appropriate solution to the current crisis."

The Chinese ambassador added: "Beijing trusts the wisdom of the political parties to resolve the crisis, noting that Iraq is one of the sources of the four ancient human civilizations."

He explained that "the Chinese-Iraqi agreement is to enhance cooperation and exchange between the two countries, including the project to build schools in Iraq, and that the embassy does not interfere with the work of projects, and there are more projects within the agreement between Iraq and China."

He continued, "Iraq is China's third largest trading partner in the West Asia and North Africa region, and is also China's largest supplier of crude oil," noting that "in 2021, the total volume of trade exchange between China and Iraq amounted to $37.3 billion, and institutions participated in And Chinese companies are building a lot of projects, including oil fields, power stations, airports and schools."

And Cui Wei said, "Chinese companies have made positive contributions towards the reconstruction of Iraq after the war, and Beijing will continue its cooperation with Baghdad to participate in building the Silk Road Belt."

Regarding the return of Iraqi students to China to complete their studies, the Chinese ambassador confirmed that the problem has been resolved, saying: "Iraqi students can now enter Chinese territory without having to re-apply for a visa."

The American newspaper "Washington Times" criticized Iraq's growing cooperation with China, warning that Beijing is using "soft power" to penetrate the Iraqi economy, especially in the oil sector, in the absence of American interest, taking advantage of its relationship with Iraqi "militias", and the atmosphere of corruption that exists in Country.

The Chinese agreement opened the door wide for Beijing to flow into the Iraqi economy sectors, a move that caused Western fears that Baghdad would become a hostage to the Chinese dragon, like many capitals of emerging Asian countries that have plunged into several economic crises because of their absolute dependence on Chinese investments.

Unlike the West, Beijing provides generous aid to Iraq without imposing political conditions on Iraqi leaders, such as achieving more democracy or pursuing structural reform policies for the local economy, so cooperation with China appears more attractive.

In October 2019, the former Prime Minister of Iraq, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, signed an agreement with China that activated the "oil for reconstruction" program, under which dozens of Chinese companies pledged to work in Iraqi infrastructure in exchange for Beijing receiving 100,000 barrels of oil per day.   LINK

On the other hand, attempts are being made to represent the Sadrists in the "road map" committee that emerged from the government palace meeting the day before yesterday.

And the coordinating framework and the forces allied with it assume the resumption of parliament sessions after the visit of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, without forming a government.

The differences within the Shiite bloc are slowing down the movement towards choosing a new government because of the objections of Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement.

The latter is still up to now on its refusal to negotiate with the political forces, or to form committees to prepare for the next stage.

Close to the Sadrist movement confirmed in an interview yesterday with (Al-Mada) in the context of reactions to the recent "national dialogue" meeting that the leader of the movement: "refuses to sit with the corrupt or deal with committees produced by that political class."

The meeting at the Government Palace last Monday announced the formation of a committee to study the re-election and change the law and the commission.

Those close to al-Sadr added that "the leader of the Sadrist movement demanded the dissolution of parliament because this council, with its current formation, is unable to reform."

Al-Sadr had renewed, during the political summit at the Government Palace in Baghdad, which he boycotted for the second time, his famous phrase in which he refuses to submit to "Eastern or Western" agendas.

It was understood from the timing of the new "tweet" that it came in response to leaks about the presence of foreign hands trying to take the political forces gathered to boycott the movement to another direction.

Al-Sadr said in a tweet yesterday on “Twitter”: “Continue to reform, no matter what happens. I and my companions are neither Eastern nor Western. He (Ibn Al-Dua’i) will not rule over us, whoever he is.”

The leader of the current had expected his opponents to go to meet his demands to dissolve parliament after he intervened to stop the Green Zone clashes last week.

Al-Sadr's minister considered after that that the demands for the resumption of parliament sessions were "impudent", before the coordination framework retreated and its convening was postponed until after the "Forty days" (dissolving after 10 days).

This prompted the postponement to an implicit truce between the Sadrist movement and its opponents, but it is likely to be violated while awaiting the Federal Court's decision on dissolving Parliament.

Today, the court is supposed to consider the case that has been postponed 4 times (one of which was due to the curfew last week following the events of Al-Khadra).

Last month, Nassar al-Rubaie, Secretary-General of the Sadrist bloc, filed a lawsuit against the three presidencies to dissolve the House of Representatives for its fifth session, and oblige the President of the Republic to set a date for legislative elections in accordance with the provisions of Article 64/second of the constitution.

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, had called on the Supreme Judicial Council to dissolve parliament within a period not exceeding 20 August, and assigning the President of the Republic to set a date for early elections, but the Council responded to al-Sadr's request to dissolve parliament, saying: "He does not have this authority. ».

The lawsuit included accusations of failing to elect a president of the republic and violating the constitutional timings for forming the new government.

The coordinating framework, according to one of the leaders of the parties close to the Shiite bloc, tends to the fact that the Federalist's decision will recommend Parliament to dissolve itself.

In an interview with Al-Mada, the leader close to Al-Attar said: "There is no legal basis for dissolving Parliament except what the constitution mentioned in Article 64, and therefore the court may go to recommend according to the known mechanisms for this procedure."

Article 64 of the constitution states: “First: The Council of Representatives is dissolved, by an absolute majority of its members, at the request of one-third of its members, or a request from the Prime Minister and with the approval of the President of the Republic. The Council may not be dissolved during the period of questioning the Prime Minister.

Second: The President of the Republic, upon dissolving the House of Representatives, shall call for general elections in the country within a maximum period of sixty days from the date of the dissolution.

As for the decisions of the last meeting called by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, the leader says that: “All the forces that participated in the meeting will nominate their representatives in the technical committee.”

The leader revealed "attempts and efforts by the political forces to place a representative of the Sadrist movement in the committee, which will study the mechanisms and timing of holding new elections, the method of financing the elections, and setting initial visions for a new election law and the replacement of the Commission."

The second decision of the six contents concluded by the summit meeting emphasized the formation of a "technical team from various political forces." To mature common visions and ideas about the road map for a national solution, and to bring points of view closer; In order to reach «early elections, and achieve their requirements by reviewing the electoral law, and reconsidering the commission».

In all cases, the leader of a party close to the "framework", who asked not to be named, confirms that "the political forces will proceed to hold parliament sessions after the Arbaeen visit, whether he accepts or rejects the Sadrist movement."

And that «the upcoming parliamentary sessions will be concerned with the legislation of 25 deferred laws, and we will leave the issue of forming a government until after the understandings».

The leader reveals that the existence of different views within the «framework» about proceeding with the formation of the government without the approval of the Sadrists, is what disrupts the understandings about this procedure.   LINK

And yesterday, Tuesday, an informed judicial source revealed to Shafak News Agency, that investigations are still in place in accordance with legal and fundamental procedures, with regard to audio leaks attributed to the owners.

And he indicated that "there are many specialized bodies participating in this investigation to reach the facts, and there is no pressure on the judicial authorities to close this file. Rather, there is a legal process that the investigation authorities are going through to announce the results in the near future."

On the nineteenth of last June, the Supreme Judicial Council announced that the Karkh Investigation Court (in Baghdad) had received a request submitted to the Public Prosecution to take legal measures regarding the audio leaks.

In his speech, according to the recordings published by journalist blogger Ali Fadel, Al-Maliki touched on topics related to Sunni Arabs that were considered sectarian, in addition to describing the "popular mobilization" as "a nation of cowards", while talking about arming clans and groups estimated at 20,000 fighters on the ground, asking him for support. Due To Recession Fears, Oil Prices Record A Significant Decline

Iraq Achieves Huge Oil Revenues During 2022.. How Much Did It Reach?

Economie| 08:39 - 06/09/2022   Baghdad - Mawazine News, the Oil Marketing Company "SOMO", today, Tuesday, counted the revenues generated from oil sales during the past eight months, and while it indicated that it plans to increase exports to European markets, it presented its expectations regarding oil prices for the next year.

The Director General of the National Oil Marketing Company "SOMO" Alaa Al-Yasiri said that "the financial revenues generated from oil sales until the end of August amounted to about 82 billion dollars," noting that "the rise in prices contributed significantly to raising the revenues achieved."

He added, "The average revenue in the past months was about 11 billion dollars per month, in August it reached 10 billion and 200 million dollars due to the low price, while the volume of revenue in the month of June was 112 billion dollars per barrel and in July it was about 101 billion dollars."

He pointed out that "the decline is due to many reasons, the most important of which is the inflation in the global economy and the accompanying slowdown, as well as the closures in China."

On the European desire to buy Iraqi oil, Al-Yasiri explained, "Iraq is present in the European market, through contracting with major companies that own refineries in Europe, but its percentage of the sold crude oil is approximately (17-15%)," explaining that "the focus is It is currently the largest on the Asian market for many reasons, including being a promising market that consumes more crude oil and in order to achieve high revenues.

He pointed out that "the plan that we have for the remainder of this year and the coming year includes increasing the quantities destined for the European market, as all the company's customers in Europe were approached and we explained to them that any company has the desire to increase its quantities, we are able to do so."

And he indicated that "the aim is not to give up or leave the Asian market, but rather because the Asian market has intense competition because of Russian oil, which entered strongly and at low prices compared to what other countries have, and which left a void in the European market, and thus the revenue generated in this market became better, so we directed to increase Our quantities are in this market,"

noting that "since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, we expected the European market not to buy Russian crude, as well as Russia would direct its quantities towards Asia, and this is what actually happened."

Regarding OPEC’s decision to reduce production, Al-Yasiri pointed out that “the decisions taken in OPEC aim to serve the interests of the members of the organization, including Iraq, and they are voluntary decisions that do not obligate its members. 2020 The price of crude oil was very low due to the presence of problems in the global economy as well as the closures in most countries as a result of the outbreak of the epidemic, which affected the suspension of air, sea and land transportation.

All of this affected the demand for crude oil. The market becomes very low and the price becomes very low, as the OPEC countries headed towards balancing supply and demand, which is what we need at the present time.”

He continued, "If there is any inflation or stagnation in the global market, there may be a new agreement for OPEC, especially if the quantity supplied becomes greater than the required," noting that "Iraq is supportive of the options that are in its interest, so the organization's options in all cases are in favor of Iraq, which It is the second largest producer of crude oil in OPEC."

He stressed that "the decisions that are taken affect positively and negatively on Iraq, as it is one of the largest producers, but in general the decisions that are taken do not pass without the approval of Iraq first," noting that "if Iraq wants not to abide by the OPEC decision, it is not committed, and the commitment is voluntary and not mandatory, for all that is taken is It is in the interest of the producers.

Regarding the expectations for oil prices, Al-Yasiri said, “The major specialized institutions in the world have three expectations because oil prices are very sensitive and affected by many factors. We have the optimistic hypothesis about the events taking place in the world, which says that there will be a Russian-Ukrainian agreement in the end and the return of Russian crude to the market, and there is also an agreement between Iran and the West on the nuclear file and thus the return of Iranian crude to the market.

He went on to say: "In the event that what was expected occurs, the price will be very low due to the pumping of large quantities into the markets. As for the second expectation, there are those who see that the situation will be the next year as it is, and here the prices will not exceed 110 dollars per barrel. As for the third expectation, it is believed that In crises, there will be an escalation of what could raise oil prices to approximately or more than 130 dollars per barrel.    https://www.mawazin.net/Details.aspx?jimare=204714
