The Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) has welcomed three new members:
Saudi-based Alkhorayef Group operates in the agricultural machinery, food distribution, oil technologies and water sectors, and partners with many of the largest global brands operating in KSA, including Volvo, Penta and Castrol. It operates in 40 countries, and employs more than 8,000 people.
Daax Construction has completed many major projects in Azerbaijan, and is the lead contractor on the new Zaha Hadid-designed Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) headquarters in Baghdad.
Control Risks, the UK-based specialist risk consultancy, has been in Iraq since 2003, and was a founder member of the IBBC. It is now re-joining the IBBC, and has offices in Erbil, Basra, and Baghdad. link

CandyKisses: Iraq invites advanced Spanish companies to participate in transport projects
Today, Thursday, Minister of Transport, Razzaq Mohibis Al-Saadawi, invited advanced Spanish companies to contribute to Iraqi transport projects.
And the ministry's media stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", that "the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, made an official visit to the Spanish capital, Madrid, accompanied by a number of general directors in the ministry to discuss joint cooperation between the two sides in the transport sector."
The statement indicated that "the Minister of Transport met during the visit with the Spanish Minister of State for Trade Affairs, Chiana Mendez, in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Madrid, Saleh Al-Tamimi, and during the meeting, they discussed ways of bilateral cooperation and invited advanced Spanish companies in the transport sector to contribute to Iraqi projects in the field of land, sea and air transport." .
He pointed out that "a preliminary date has been set for the meetings of the joint Iraqi-Spanish committee in early October of this year."
The statement continued, "Al-Saadawi also met with the Spanish company Consultran, which specializes in railways and high-speed trains, and presented the capabilities of the leading company in the world, which implemented projects in the Arabian Gulf, including the Al-Haramain project in Saudi Arabia, which cost seven billion euros for a distance of 450 kilometers,"
Noting that " Al-Saadawi's visit to the capital, Madrid, comes as part of the work to complete the development projects of the Ministry of Transport and to raise the level of services provided to keep pace with the global development taking place in the field of transport. link

We have always been told that one had nothing to do with the other. The CBI Controls the Exchange Rate of the IQD. Now, from what you're saying, it is now up to Sudani to release this? None of this is adding up. Can't keep flip-flopping. Is the CBI in control of this or is Sudani?

Clare: Parliamentary efforts to legislate a law that will soon end the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil

The Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee revealed, on Wednesday, that the oil and gas law will be put forward during the next legislative term, considering its passage as a solution to all disputes between Baghdad and Erbil.
"The oil and gas law is one of the important laws that falls within the government's priorities," said committee member Bassem Al-Gharibawi, in an interview with Al-Maalouma agency. He suggested that "the law will be presented during the new legislative term."
Al-Gharibawi added, "There is an intention among all political parties to proceed with enacting the law to regulate the process of oil, gas and natural resources and share their revenues."
He pointed out that "the legislation of the law will end the differences between the federal government of Baghdad and the regional government and will regulate the oil and financial relationship between the provinces and districts and between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government."
The representative of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Nermin Maarouf, had revealed the formation of a joint committee between the Baghdad and Erbil governments to prepare a draft oil and gas law. LINK

MZ: it appears we are very close due to the efforts they are using to keep things quiet. Mosst are under some type of NDA.

Al-Rafidain Bank announced, today, Thursday, that cash deposits, credits, and guarantees have been collected in Iraqi dinars.
And the bank’s media stated in a statement received (Baghdad Today), that “in line with government directives to deal in Iraqi dinars instead of dollars and to enhance its strength in the local market, Al-Rafidain Bank announces that all cash guarantees will be fulfilled in the Iraqi dinar currency exclusively for internal credits, bank guarantees and letters of guarantee issued.” For the benefit of government and private beneficiaries, even if the insurance is in dollars and at the official exchange rate.

Tishwash: Article 140: An expert provides solutions to the disputed areas
The legal expert, Ali Al-Tamimi, spoke on Thursday about the dispute over Article 140 of Kirkuk Governorate and other areas administered by the federal government and witnessing a dispute with the Kurdistan Region.
Al-Tamimi said, in a clarification received by Earth News, that “Article 140 of the constitution, which provides for normalization, must be activated, including the return of the deportees and compensation for those affected, as compensation was estimated at 3 billion dollars, and the census that needs to be based on records established in 1957 and according to documents, and that this be under international supervision.” ".
He also pointed out the necessity of “determining the will of the voters, and these elections are important, but the text did not specify what it means to determine the will of the voters. Is it the formation of an independent region, joining the Kurdistan region, or staying with the federal government?”
He stressed that "Parliament needs to legislate a special law in which all this is decided, because these steps were supposed to be resolved at the end of 2007, and that the administration be joint according to the last referendum until this is resolved by Parliament and the problem of the disputed areas is resolved." link

Harambe: Bank Indonesia Denies Reports of Rupiah Redenomination - News En.tempo.co (7/5/23)
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia's executive director for Bank Communications, Erwin Haryono, said that the government has yet to redenominate the rupiah. Erwin's statement at the same time addressed the circulation of a video claiming to the central bank that has issued new banknotes in redenominated denominations.
When contacted by Tempo on July 5, Erwin firmly stated that the information in the video was not true.
The video, which was shared via WhatsApp groups, claims that BI has issued new banknotes that are redenominated—eliminating the last three zeros.
Erwin said that Bank Indonesia sees a redenomination as a national-scale policy. Therefore, Bank Indonesia will continue to be committed to working together with the government to set the momentum for implementation carefully.
He also explained that redenomination requires at least three prerequisites: good macroeconomic conditions, stable monetary and financial system conditions, and favorable sociopolitical conditions.
These conditions, he said, must be carefully considered both from economic, social and political aspects.
Last month, Bank Indonesia stated that it was ready to redenominate the rupiah. BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said that the central bank has made preparations for a long time, taking into account the design, stages, and steps towards this transition.
"But of course, this decision needs the right timing," he said in a press conference in June 2023.
Perry said that although Indonesia's economy is currently good and fulfills the requirements for implementing redenomination, there are still plenty of propagating effects from the weakening global economy. While Indonesia's finances are stale, the world is still shrouded in economic uncertainties. Because of that, he hopes the public can be patient waiting for the right moment.

Mnt Goat ...the CBI told me they were moving along and we should expect the rate in the US. But last Saturday I did finally get in contact with my CBI representative and I was told that the Oil and Gas law did impact the ability for the Central Bank to move ahead...the RV or Reinstatement has NOT occurred I can assure you with 1000% certainty. We still wait. Will the passing of the Oil and Gas law make any difference. To me it should since I also know it is a constitutional requirement and I was told a decade ago there will be no Reinstatement unless the Iraqi constitution is fully implemented and this law is such a critical law...
Frank26 There is no CBI talking. There is no article talking about the exchange rate. We don't see Alaq explaining about the de-dollarization, about the new currency, about the ATMs. In other words everything that was hot just this past week is not hot. It's back to the GOI. It's back to the budget...it's back to the reforms. All of that needs a new exchange rate.

Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed, on Tuesday, with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Reno-Basso, ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and the bank.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and the bank, in a manner that guarantees the possibility of strengthening the private sector in Iraq and digitizing the banking system.
The minister stressed the importance of partnership with the European Bank to support the Iraqi government’s plan to diversify the sources of the national economy, noting that the Iraqi government’s priorities are investment in the fields of energy and digital transformation in the financial infrastructure.
For her part, Mrs. Odell confirmed the bank’s desire to work in Iraq and contribute to supporting the private sector and renewable energy.

Without exception Kuwait was able to do it with pencils and crayons.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, called on the British side to help Iraq by providing technical support in various economic and service sectors.
This came during Hussein's meeting yesterday, Monday, with a number of committee chairs in the British House of Commons on the sidelines of his visit to London, based on the invitation extended to him by British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, according to what was announced by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry today, Tuesday, where Hussein affirmed the Iraqi government's determination to build a strong economy. .
The statement added that the sessions dealt with discussions about the regional role played by Iraq in the stability of the region and the convergence of views between the regional powers and its keenness to be a meeting point in the region by bringing together regional powers through the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership.
The statement quoted the Iraqi Foreign Minister as saying that the priorities of the Iraqi government are to provide services and diversify sources of income through contracts with major international companies and the optimal use of the country's wealth.

Rafidain Bank announced on Monday the temporary suspension of electronic advances.
The bank said in a statement, received by Mawazine News, that "the promotion of advances transactions submitted through the application of K services from Rafidain Bank was temporarily suspended."
“All applicants will be paid within the coming days after completing the grant procedure,” the statement added.
He added, "temporarily suspending the receipt of electronic advances transactions and to another notice came as a result of the effectiveness of the allocation granted to advances and loans."
He pointed out that "the bank will announce the date of re-apply after completing the grants for all current sponsors and registered."
He continued, "The bank continues to collect monthly installments from the dovaries where the deduction is done electronically."
