Basra crude rises to more than 10% in a week ................................... Oil prices recorded the biggest weekly gain in more than a year, as energy companies began stopping US production in the Gulf of Mexico before a major hurricane is expected to hit the region early this week, with Basra crude rising more than 10% in a week.
As Basra crude rose $1.67, or 2.34%, to $72.95, recording a weekly profit of 10.15%.
The Saudi Arabian crude also witnessed a rise of 0.83% to reach $72.81, and the Emirati Murban mix rose by 0.82% to reach $71.38.
Brent crude rose 11% during the week, recording $72.70 a barrel, its highest profit level in a year.
The US West Texas Intermediate crude was settled at a rise of $1.32, or 2%, to $68.74 a barrel, gaining 11% during the week.
