Tishwash:  The winning deputies in the fifth parliamentary session are sworn in

The winning candidates in the recent parliamentary elections were sworn in today, Sunday, in the first session of the House of Representatives.

The constitutional oath was preceded by a reading of the names of the representatives, preceded by a speech by the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, then the head of the age

Representative Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, took over the administration of the session, followed by the Secretary-General of the constitutional oath in the Kurdish language. 

Thus, the Fifth House of Representatives achieved a quorum of 325 deputies.  link  

Tishwash:  Officially, progress and determination choose the candidate of the year for the presidency of Parliament

On Saturday, the Alliance of Progress and Al-Azm officially chose Muhammad Al-Halbousi as the only candidate for the presidency of Parliament in its fifth session.

The official spokesman for the National Progress Alliance, Yahya al-Muhammadi, said in a statement received by Shafak News Agency, "The recent parliamentary elections produced a new political equation that will have a tangible impact on the reality of Iraq;

Al-Muhammadi congratulated, "The step of electing Khamis al-Khanjar as head of the coalition that combines progress and determination," noting that "this merger will have a direct reflection on the reality of the liberated provinces."

And he added, "Today, in the presence of 67 winning deputies from the Azm and Progress coalition, a vote was taken to choose Khamis al-Khanjar as the head of the coalition, and Muhammad al-Halbousi as the only candidate for parliament."

Al-Mohammadi continued, "The Sunni political arena is witnessing political maturity thanks to the rationality and vision of the two leaders, Al-Halbousi and Al-Khanjar," stressing that "this merger is historical and is in the interest of the political process."

And earlier today, Saturday, an informed political source revealed that the two largest coalitions of Sunni political forces on Saturday evening chose Muhammad al-Halbousi as a candidate for the presidency of the Iraqi parliament in its fifth session.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, that members of my alliance, headed by Muhammad al-Halbousi, and a determination led by Khamis al-Khanjar voted unanimously to choose al-Halbousi as a candidate for the Sunni forces to occupy the position of parliament speaker for a second term.

The source had told Shafaq News Agency, that the two alliances reached an agreement during a meeting held in Baghdad to form a unified alliance headed by Khamis al-Khanjar.

The progress and determination of the two largest alliances of Sunni political forces are considered, and the first won 37 seats in the last parliamentary elections that took place last October, while the second won 14 seats.  link

Tishwash:  Al-Sadr publishes a tweet about the shape of the new Iraqi government

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, renewed on Saturday his position regarding the formation of the next federal government, and that it will be a “national majority” government.

This came in a tweet he posted on the social networking sites “Twitter”, on the eve of the first session of the House of Representatives in its new session, and the intensification of meetings and meetings between the main political components in the country (Shiites, Kurds, Sunnis) with the aim of naming the three presidencies, and proceeding with the formation of the government.

Al-Sadr said in his tweet, “Today, there is no place for sectarianism and there is no place for ethnicity, but a national majority government in which Shiites defend the rights of minorities, Sunnis and Kurds.”

He added that “the Kurdish will defend the rights of minorities, Sunnis and Shiites, and the Sunni will defend the rights of minorities, Shiites and Kurds.”

He pointed out that “today there is no place for corruption, as all sects will support reform,” stressing that “today there is no place for militias, everyone will support the army, police and security forces, and the law will prevail in an impartial Iraqi judiciary.”

Al-Sadr continued, “Today, we and the people will say: No, our decision is Iraqi Shiite, Sunni, Kurdish, Turkman, Christian, Faili, Shabak, Yazidi, Sabean: (an Iraqi national mosaic, neither eastern nor western).”  link
