Tishwash: Iran announces an agreement with Iraq regarding the Al-Kazemi assassination

The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced, on Monday, an agreement with Iraq to provide assistance in exposing those involved in the attempt to assassinate Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi.

This position comes a day after Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi announced that he had survived an assassination attempt after his house was bombed by drones, while the security authorities indicated that they had managed to shoot down two of three drones that targeted the Prime Minister’s home in the fortified Green Zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a weekly press conference that "Iraq now does not need any mediation, and it has a government and it has good relations with Iran, which continues its assistance for the stability of Iraq."

Khatibzadeh added, "What is important for Iran is the stability of Iraq, and we must wait for the results of investigations into the incident by Iraqi institutions to be revealed."

He stressed the need for everyone to unite and help uncover "the two leaders and culprits in this attempt," considering at the same time the United States of America, as "the source of the security chaos in Iraq. link

Tishwash: Al-Kazemi’s advisor: The rest of Kuwait’s compensation is $600 million

The financial advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, confirmed that the rest of Kuwait's compensation is 600 million dollars, indicating that these compensations will end in the first quarter of 2022.

Saleh said in a press interview, which was monitored by The Independent today, Monday; “The rest of Kuwait’s compensation is more than half a billion dollars and it is up to 600 million dollars,” noting that “compensations are deducted from oil and at an amount of 3% of the value of each exported barrel out of 52.4 billion dollars imposed on Iraq.”

Saleh added; That “the compensation file will be closed soon and within the limits of the first chapter of the next year 2022,” noting that “the completion of these compensations will close any trace and belongings of Chapter VII imposed by the Security Council on Iraq 30 years ago due to the Kuwait war.”

Saleh pointed out that "the completion of the compensation will bring to Iraq some of the money that was going as compensation to turn its annual flows for the benefit of the Iraqi economy and achieve a financial space of not less than 2 billion dollars annually, according to oil prices, to enhance the financial sustainability of the country."

Iraq must deposit 5% of its export revenues from sales of oil, its products and gas, before reducing it to 3% in 2018 in a UN fund established under the name of the United Nations Compensation Fund.

In 1991, a UN Compensation Committee was formed, obligating Baghdad to pay $52.4 billion in compensation to individuals, companies, governmental organizations and others, who incurred losses resulting directly from the invasion and occupation of Kuwait. link

Tishwash: Oil prices have risen to more than $83 per barrel

Oil prices rose, on Monday, after the Saudi oil production company "Aramco" raised the official selling price of its crude, while the price of a barrel of oil reached more than 83 dollars.

Brent crude rose 90 cents, or 1.1%, to $83.64 a barrel, after declining about 2% last week. US crude rose 87 cents, or 1.1%, to $82.14, after falling nearly 3% last week.

Late last Friday, Aramco raised the official selling price for the month of December to buyers of its Arab Light crude in Asia to $2.70 a barrel above the Oman/Dubai average, an increase of $1.40 from this month.

ANZ Research said in a note that Aramco's move indicated that "demand remains strong," as the OPEC member and other major oil exporters continue to curb supplies.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies, including Russia, within the framework of the OPEC + group, agreed last week to stick to their plan to increase oil production by 400,000 barrels per day, starting next December. link
