Tishwash:  The Republican majority leader in the US Senate calls Al-Kazemi

The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, received a phone call from the leader of the Republican majority in the US Senate, Senator Mitch McConnell.   

A statement of the Prime Minister's Office, of which Nass received a copy (August 22, 2020), stated that “during the call, bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States were discussed, and ways to enhance them at the economic and security levels, as well as support for joint cooperation in various educational and cultural fields. ".  

And Mitch McConnell expressed his "support for the efforts of the Iraqi government and its efforts to achieve stability in Iraq."   

This comes within a number of bilateral files that Al-Kazemi is discussing during his current visit to the American capital, Washington, at the head of a government delegation.   link

The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, met with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, at the US Congress building, on Saturday.  

The meeting was attended by the Republican Minority Leader in the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, and members of the House of Representatives are all of the two Democratic parties, Anna Echo and Representative Stephen Lynch, and Republican member Devin Nunes.  

During the meeting, according to a statement by Al-Kazemi's office, a copy of which was received by "People" (August 22, 2020), "ways to develop bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America in the security, economic, educational and other fields were discussed, and they discussed increasing the efficiency of the Iraqi security forces and their combat capabilities in a manner that is transferred." The relationship between the two countries has reached a new stage, and the issue of the displaced and minorities has been discussed.  

The Prime Minister emphasized that "Iraq is a sovereign state, and dealing with it shall be in accordance with this principle," indicating "the need to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America, especially in the economic field."  

He stressed that "the prospects for cooperation between Baghdad and Washington are not limited to the security and military side only, but go beyond it to various fields that include rehabilitation and reconstruction of Iraq and building economic partnerships with the United States of America."  

He pointed to "the form of the relationship between the two countries after the end of the war against the terrorist organization ISIS, and stressed that the strategic dialogue that took place between the Iraqi and American sides during his visit to Washington has summed up several important points that will establish a new phase of bilateral relations between the two countries."  

For her part, the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi welcomed Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and his accompanying delegation, and praised the steps taken by his Excellency since assuming his duties in the government, and the efforts made by the Iraqi government in the file of the components and the displaced.  

Pelosi indicated that "the United States of America supports the current Iraqi government and its national orientations, and affirmed that Iraq is an independent country and an important country in a difficult region, and that there is a consensus to support the independence of the Iraqi government, rehabilitate the Iraqi state and support Iraq's efforts in the war against ISIS."  

In this context, the Prime Minister affirmed that "the file of the components and the displaced occupies a large part of the concerns of his government, and it is determined to return the displaced to their areas of origin, and solve the problems facing Iraq's minorities and work to support and empower them."     link

Jeff  ...Trump made it very clear we are not removing our troops until we've been paid which means theoretically...we're not pulling the troops until Iraq has revalued the currency and it has value because we've already been paid in dinar it just doesn't have value. So until it has value we have not been paid...

Pimpy  ...it looks to me like they're just getting ready to make a huge move into rebuilding Iraq .  There are some things I want to see get done first and it looks like they're heading in some major positive ways...this is a great huge step forward for Iraq...sort term/long term I'm looking for anything that can help the economy grow, anything whatsoever because if their economy grows so does the value of their currency.
