Baghdad - Mawazine News , Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi confirmed today, Friday, that his meeting with US President Donald Trump was important and successful.
Al-Kazemi said, according to the official channel, that "both the Iraqi and American parties came out comfortable from this meeting," noting that "during the meeting, there was talk about economic cooperation, security cooperation, and a re-evaluation of the American presence in Iraq."
Al-Kazemi added that "it was agreed through the strategic dialogue headed by the Secretary of State and his American counterpart on a set of principles, all of which are in the interests of the Iraqi people, relating to the presence of American forces, its rescheduling, and the redeployment of American forces outside Iraq," indicating that "it was agreed within the strategic dialogue." I have to set up a technical team to find a mechanism for this deployment outside Iraq. "
Al-Kazemi pointed out that: "For the first time, I see clear American positions and understand the demands of the Iraqi government," noting that "President Trump confirmed that the American forces will withdraw from Iraq during the next three years, and they are discussing their deployment outside Iraq."
He continued, "The American President said: The numbers of American forces are very few, and indeed they are few, but Iraq needs these forces to train and develop the army and security forces."
Al-Kazemi explained that "from the economic side, Iraq needs to evaluate the relationship for its own interests, especially since America is an important country, and it has major industries, in terms of oil, energy and even education," stressing that "Iraq has an opportunity to benefit from a partnership with a major industrial country."

A high-ranking official in the US administration in the White House said that foreign interference in Iraq is one of the most important topics addressed by the meeting between Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and US President Donald Trump.
In response to a question via the telephone briefing, with the American official who spoke on condition of not declaring his name to the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, which Al-Akhbariya followed him about the American position on Turkey's interference in northern Iraq, the official affirmed: "This matter is followed with great care and concern by the American administration, and the reason is President Trump believes that Iraq is a sovereign country, and this is clearly among the priorities of the Iraqi prime minister, and it is imperative to preserve its stability and stop malicious practices."
He added, "I would like to say that Iraq's relations with its neighbors are the focus of action for both the United States and the Iraqi prime minister, and our goal is to work to mitigate the effects of these interventions, and we hope to remove the unilateral situation in the exercise of influence, and in this case Turkey is, and it must necessarily be." He pointed out that the strategic agreement between Iraq and the United States "is devoted to building the defense capabilities of Iraq, providing security assistance, and working with Iraq to improve its stability and security.
