The Police Directorate of Erbil Governorate, the capital of Kurdistan Region, announced on Wednesday the arrest of 25 people, representing 7 groups, involved in defrauding people in the name of the Libyan dollar.
Erbil police spokesman, Hawker Aziz, said in a press conference held today and attended by Shafak News Agency, that 7 groups, including 25 people, accused of committing 35 crimes were arrested during this period, stressing citizens not to be deceived by the existence of the Libyan dollar because it is just lies and baseless.
Aziz also announced the statistics of the past six months, saying that 7,981 crimes were committed in Erbil during that period, 7,309 of them were resolved, or 92%, adding that 2,755 suspects were arrested.
In addition, 314 suspects who committed crimes in other provinces of the country were arrested and then headed to Erbil. They were arrested and referred to the places from which they came to receive their just punishment, according to the police spokesman.
