Minister Of Oil: Iraq Has Adopted A Strategy To Adopt Clean Energy To Invest In Gas And Produce Renewable Energy

The Minister of Oil said, during his participation on the electronic platform, in the energy transition workshop organized by the International Energy Organization: “Iraq has taken practical steps to gradually shift towards clean and renewable energy,” referring to the government and ministry’s support for investments in the associated gas sector and its transformation into useful energy through Adopting a clear strategy by contracting with international companies specialized in this field in the governorates of Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar, and establishing the Basra Gas Company.
The Minister touched upon, according to a statement by his media office, the signing with the French company Total on a set of projects to invest associated gas in addition to other projects carried out by the ministry, leading to an investment of (2600) million standard cubic feet per day within the plans of the Ministry of Oil to invest associated gas from the governorates fields It is hoped that it will be completed before 2026.”
He added: "The second important axis of Iraq's plans is to add (12 kilowatts) to the national electric power system through the use of alternative energy (solar) by contracting with leading international companies in this sector, and working to shift to the use of gas in the operation of stations instead of Heavy fuel to reduce emissions and preserve the environment, and this is among the priorities of the Iraqi government."

The ministry said in a statement, that the Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs inaugurated, today, Musa bin Nusair fuel station in Baghdad after its rehabilitation .
The statement quoted the Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs as saying that the ministry adopts modern electronic systems in all oil sectors, including the distribution sector, and upgrading the services provided therein, stressing that "these systems achieve a great flow of refueling, as well as reduce cases of waste and exploitation, if any ."
