Why Iraq Tops The List Of The Most Corrupt Countries?

Political| 01:40 - 06/26/2021   Baghdad - Mawazine News   The Parliamentary Integrity Committee identified, on Saturday, the reasons why Iraq was at the forefront of countries in the corruption file.

A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Jawad Hamdan Al-Saadi, said, "The Integrity Committee has opened files for several ministries, including oil, industry, transport, defense and most state institutions," noting that "these files constitute a small percentage of the corruption files spread in state institutions."

Al-Saadi added, "These files have been referred to the concerned authorities from the Integrity and Public Prosecution Commission and the Office of Financial Supervision, and there is follow-up from the representatives and the committee, but so far the files are in the relevant investigation department to complete the procedures associated with the files."

He continued, "The global reports on integrity and transparency ranked Iraq at the forefront of corruption, and there are many reasons that led to this classification, including political quotas, and the imposition of people without professionalism," noting that "the Integrity Committee in its current situation is unable to address corruption files." .

Al-Saadi explained, "The Integrity Committee is unable to understand all the corruption files in state institutions," noting that "there are reasons that made the committee's work in this field weak compared to the giant and complex files, including the confusing situation due to the change of two governments, as well as the irregularity of the House of Representatives demonstrations and the spread of the Corona epidemic, as well as other reasons.”     https://www.mawazin.net/Details.aspx?jimare=158386
