Iraq Is Ranked 143 Globally Worldwide In The E-Government Index For 2020

Iraq 07/11/2020  Iraq ranked 143 globally worldwide out of 170 countries in the e-government index for 2020.

Despite the rise of Iraq from the 155th position in 2019 to 143, it occupied the penultimate position among West Asian countries, surpassing only Yemen.

The factor of e-government for the year 2020 to Iraq reached 0.43 after it was 0.33 in 2019. Syria, which was close to the center of Iraq, rose from 152nd to 131st, Lebanon fell to 127th and Jordan to 117th, while the first country in West Asia was Cyprus, which achieved a factor of 0.87, followed by the UAE with a rate of 0.855

One of the most important reasons for the decline in the status of Iraq was that Iraq obtained a score of zero in open government data, and it is one of the most important criteria that determine the amount of use of electronic government.   https://www.radionawa.com/all-detail.aspx?jimare=21149

Al-Kazemi: The Stage Of Restoring Order And Law Has Begun ... And We Will Not Allow The Theft Of Public Money In Outlets / Extender

Saturday 11, July 2020 12:28 | PoliticalViews: 260

Baghdad ( NINA ) - Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazimi said that the stage of restoring order and law has begun, and we will not allow the theft of public funds in outlets.

Al-Kazimi said during the reopening of the Mandali port: "The stage of restoring order and law has begun and we will not allow the theft of public money in the outlets," noting that "the customs campus is under the protection of military forces."

He added, "Our visit to the port is a clear message to all the corrupt that you do not have a foothold in the border crossings as a whole." He called "all circles to work to fight corruption because it is a public demand."

He continued, "We have prepared plans to fight the corrupt and all must join hands to fulfill this demand," explaining that "we have granted powers to the head of the border outlets to pursue the corrupt in all border outlets." / End 10   https://ninanews.com/Website/News/Details?key=843244

Al-Kazimi Is Threatening A Border Crossing With Iran To Fight Customs Corruption In Iraq

July 11, 2020 26   Mandali border crossing (Iraq) - (AFP) - Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi launched a new campaign Saturday against corruption at border checkpoints, saying that the country lost millions of dollars due to poor taxation of imported goods.

While at the Mandali border crossing with Iran, Al-Kazemi said, in response to a question, told AFP that the government would pursue "ghosts" that were transporting cargo trucks across the border without paying customs duties.

He added, "This is a message to all the corrupt and whoever tries to blackmail the citizens, that today we will restore the prestige of the state."

The Prime Minister continued, "The ghosts in the customs campus provoke and blackmail the Iraqi national merchant or businessman."

He asked, in front of the journalists who circled around him alongside the head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Al-Waeli, that "businessmen pay the customs and not pay the bribes."

And Finance Minister Ali Allawi had made it clear during an interview with France Press last June that customs taxes should be about six billion dollars annually, but what is being collected is less than a billion dollars now.

On Saturday, Al-Kazemi promised to carry out "three-stage" reforms, in particular by replacing security forces operating in border posts, and automating data and financial exchanges.

The Mandali crossing was opened in the year 2014, and has since been controlled by members of the Iraqi Intelligence Service and the Popular Mobilization Forces.

Jurists and businessmen frequently accuse armed factions of accepting bribes to import imported goods or building materials into the country.

This crossing was closed on Saturday, similar to the 33 crossings that Iraq shares with its neighbors, due to the embargo imposed to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

And Iraq, which depends more than 90 percent of its budget on oil, is going through the worst economic crisis in its history, as the second largest oil producer in OPEC failed to diversify the economy and find alternatives to black gold.

To make matters worse, Iraq is one of the most corrupt countries in the world, and it has lost nearly 450 billion dollars due to theft and embezzlement operations during the past 17 years.   LINK
