Highlights Of The Speech Of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi At The Opening Of The Baghdad Conference For Cooperation And Partnership    28 - August 2021

🔵 In the name of the people of Iraq, we welcome you to Baghdad, peace, history and the future, appreciating this participation in the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, and it is the participation that our people view as a message of support and solidarity from its brothers, neighbors and partners.

🔵 This conference is being held in a sensitive and historical circumstance to represent a new impetus for Iraq's endeavors, by consolidating its foreign relations on the basis of cooperation, solidarity, common understanding, fraternal relations and common interests.

🔵 During the previous stages, Iraq faced great challenges, but it made great strides to overcome these challenges with the will of our people, and their insistence on work and life; For a future befitting him, with the help of all his brothers and neighbors.

🔵 The convening of this conference in Baghdad embodies Iraq's vision of the need to establish the best relations with the countries of the world based on the foundations of cooperation, integration, non-interference in internal affairs, and the predominance of the language of dialogue, partnerships and mutual respect.

🔵 We pledged, with the assumption of responsibility by this government, that Iraq would restore its natural pioneering role in the region, by drawing inspiration from the principles of security, peace and cooperation, and a desire to strengthen the participants.

🔵 Iraq's historical role can be one of the pillars of stability in the region, and we have laid a solid foundation for defining this role, starting with refusing to use Iraqi lands as an arena for regional and international conflicts, or as a springboard for aggression against its neighbors from any side.

🔵 We aspire to make greater strides in the reconstruction of our Iraq, especially its infrastructure, which has suffered great damage for decades; Because of absurd wars, wrong management, terrorism, and uncontrolled weapons.

🔵 We aspire to cooperate, and support from all friends, to put Iraq's cities on the map of modernization, investment, development and the consolidation of good governance.

🔵 We opened the door to receiving investment partnerships with our neighbors and friends all over the world, and we saw great enthusiasm at the level of everyone's desire to support this trend.

🔵 We acknowledge that there are some challenges in the field of facilitating investments in Iraq, and we are working through government measures and economic reforms to overcome them.

🔵 We hope, through this conference and bilateral and collective meetings, to achieve major economic partnerships for reconstruction and construction. For Iraq to be a strong contributor to the development of the region through economic integration based on historical, geographical and cultural commonalities.

🔵 The people of Iraq have defeated the most obscure terrorist organizations in the modern era called the organization

(ISIS) outsiders of the age, and the victory was achieved with the help and solidarity of brothers, neighbors and the international community.

🔵 The elimination of ISIS is a victory for the peoples of the region and for all humanity, because terrorism and extremism in all its forms represent a common danger, and the Iraqis have fought their just war against terrorism on behalf of the world and in defense of human meanings.

🔵 Terrorism is still trying to find a foothold, but we are constantly eliminating these desperate attempts with the will of our people who love peace and life, and who reject all forms of extremism and violence, and the readiness of our armed forces in all its forms.

The complete elimination of terrorism requires confronting the conditions and environments that allow the growth of these groups, and this is a task that goes beyond the military factor to a culture of dialogue, tolerance, economic and human development.

The meeting of His Eminence, the Supreme Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, who is known for his great humanitarian and patriotic stances, with His Eminence, His Holiness Pope Francis, represented a qualitative leap in the foundations of tolerance and human fraternity.

🔵 I was a few days ago in the city of Sinjar, Nineveh Governorate, to work on returning the remaining displaced people, after we had made great strides in returning the majority of the displaced to their cities that they abandoned during the ISIS occupation.

🔵 We seek to activate projects aimed at restoring normal life in all cities of Iraq, despite the challenges, in order to achieve the aspirations of our people and their legitimate demands for reform.

🔵 Iraq will organize on the tenth of next October parliamentary elections that will determine the future paths, and we have asked the international community to support the elections through monitoring teams, and the responses have been positive from international and regional organizations and friendly countries.

The Iraqi people resorted to the democratic path to determine their options, and this path is developing through experiences and some of its shortcomings are addressed, so there is no return to the past, no return to non-democratic paths, and no return to tense relations with neighbors and friends.

🔵 The commonalities between the countries and peoples of our region are much greater than what divides them, and the language of good intentions, building trust and opening the doors of cooperation and partnership are the main levers of security and peace for the region, and therefore international peace and security.

🔵 I renew my thanks to all of you for attending this conference in Baghdad, peace, Arabism, history, and culture, and I thank the efforts made by the French Republic to attend and coordinate this conference.

🔵 I hope that this meeting will be a new station on the path to achieving the aspirations of the Iraqi people, and the peoples of our region, and moving together to a future worthy of our history and our commons.
