You may think you can spot the signs of wealth at a glance — surely just look for the designer clothing and purses, yachts, fancy cars, gigantic mansions and diamonds dripping from fingers, right? Not necessarily.
In fact, there are many signs of wealth you wouldn’t notice or think to look for, and some that are actually quite hidden. Experts explain what some of these unrecognizable signs of wealth actually are.

Stress-Free Living
Real wealth isn’t just about having a fat bank account; it’s about feeling secure and stress-free about money, according to Jeff Rose, a CFP and founder of Good Financial Cents.
“Think about it: a whopping 72% of Americans, in a Charles Schwab survey, said that being wealthy means having peace of mind,” Rose said. “So, it’s less about how much you’ve got and more about feeling good about where you stand financially.”
Wealth can bring a certain kind of mental and emotional freedom that others just don’t have, and that’s not something you can see necessarily by looking at a person.
Generosity and Philanthropy
Many affluent individuals are deeply involved in philanthropy, Rose pointed out.
“The Giving USA report highlighted that in 2022, Americans gave over $499 billion to charity, with a significant chunk coming from the ultra-wealthy.”
This also might not be something wealthy people talk about-they may just do it quietly.
Valuing Experiences Over Things
The wealthy often prioritize experiences over material possessions because they have everything that money can buy.

Minimizing the Opinions of Others
Minimizing the Opinions of Others
Written by Cheryl Smith
One of the many things I have observed as a longtime online writer is the ebb and flow of the opinions of others. Putting yourself out there, being real and transparent, and sharing from your heart opens the door for others to react and respond, and their feedback can either distract and discourage or affirm and encourage you.
Here are 10 lessons I’ve learned over the past nearly 12 years that are not only for online authors but can be applied to anyone who deals with the opinions of others. Don’t we all?

One of the many things I have observed as a longtime online writer is the ebb and flow of the opinions of others. Putting yourself out there, being real and transparent, and sharing from your heart opens the door for others to react and respond, and their feedback can either distract and discourage or affirm and encourage you.
Here are 10 lessons I’ve learned over the past nearly 12 years that are not only for online authors but can be applied to anyone who deals with the opinions of others. Don’t we all?
10 Lessons in Minimizing the Opinions of Others
1. People’s opinions are as varied as people themselves.
They hold the potential to elevate you to pedestal status one day, then to trample your name (and work) in the mud the next. People’s opinions vary immensely from one person to the next. A thousand people can read your written words and come away from them with a thousand interpretations. Those interpretations can be completely off-track or the reader can totally “get” what you are trying to say.
2. Stay true to yourself.
Don’t be swayed. Don’t second-guess yourself. Stay true to who you are and what you have been called to do. My husband always tells me to do what brings me peace, and following his advice is extremely liberating. Continue to do what gives you peace and allows you to lie down at night with a clear, clean conscience. Don’t conform to what others think you should do, say, or be.
3. Praise isn’t always what it seems.
There are those who have mastered the art of being able to ruin a perfectly good compliment by adding a subtle, passive-aggressive insult to the mix.
4. Jealousy is cruel.
Your success can and will bring out the worst in others. Song of Solomon 8:6 says, “Jealousy is as cruel as the grave.” People who are driven by jealousy are much more likely to lash out online than insult you to your face. If someone is jealous of you and/or your work, remember it is their problem, not yours. Press on unfazed by the issue(s) of those who criticize you.
5. Stay grounded.
There will be highs. There will be lows. The important thing is that you are affected by neither. Whether someone left a one-star rating or a five-star review changes nothing.
6. Toughen up.

The No. 1 Personality Trait Linked To A Long Life:
‘The effects of just being positive are overstated,’ psychology expert says
Published Sun, Sep 17 2023 Aditi Shrikant
The number of people who are living to at least 100 years old in the U.S. has doubled over the past decade. Many centenarians credit their longevity, at least in part, to their positive attitude.
Roslyn Menaker, 103, told The Guardian that “happiness, joy, appreciation … a positive outlook,” are why she has lived so long. Ruth Sweedler, 103, told CNBC Make It that she was always praised for her good attitude growing up. “When I walked into a classroom, my teacher would say, ‘Good morning, sunshine!’ Because I was so cheerful,” she said.

While seniors might feel being positive has played a role in their longevity, the relationship between personality and aging is more nuanced, says David Watson, a former professor of personality psychology at the University of Notre Dame.
“I think the effects of just being positive are overstated,” he says. But there are other traits he believes are closely linked to longevity.
‘Conscientious people don’t do stupid things’
When breaking down personality, it’s helpful to look at the Five Factor Model, a personality theory that suggests most people’s traits can be grouped into five categories: openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and neuroticism.
Conscientiousness, or how organized and disciplined you are, is the most related to longevity, Watson says.
This is likely because people with high degrees of conscientiousness are better at taking care of themselves. Conscientious people, for example, tend to drink alcohol in moderation and eat more balanced meals, he says.
“Conscientious people don’t do stupid things so they have lower rates of accidents and better health behaviors,” he says.

China’s Qing Dynasty Collapsed For Reasons That Feel Eerily Familiar
BRIEFING #195 whitehatauxiliaries September 13, 2023
Guest Feature Qing dynasty ruler Qing ruler Dorgon.
Salve Citizens,
As we close the 3rd quarter or 2023, most would agree that the general state of society is decaying and is in need of a serious change. Central to this for our purpose, is, of course, the natural curiosity about the Global Settlements. As much as we would love to have unrestricted news on the matter, such a thing is just not possible. What you see released here, to greater or lesser degree, is as good as it can be. And it’s far more accurate and reliable than what is claimed elsewhere.

Case in point. Here is a brief comment and description of a backchannel communication between the key London GS trustee and an eager bureaucrat who felt entitled to demand a timetable on his terms:
In a world where silent hands steer the fate of nations, the Elders of Asia who live in China and Taiwan have spoken. Backed by their Trusted Brit, even Xi has to answer, and is under their watchful eyes.
“Because you don’t see it doesn’t mean its not happening”, as I responded to a pushy Lord today, when I asked who XXXXX are YOU? It’s done when we say its done. We say, we pay. Until then you XXXXX well go away! Hardball, or we take them!
So, please remember, the highly sensitive nature of this process is requiring very guarded news concerning its progress and status. But, but no means are you to think that such tacitness is due to inactivity or failure.
China is not immune to the vagaries of world economics. They have a similar history of turmoil akin to that experienced by most other empires of the past. Today, however, the stakes are much higher and the penalties for failure are severe and swift. To maneuver such a hugely populated world from beneath a general collapse, while achieving and maintaining sensitive political consensus is going to take careful timing and skill. Such responsibilities are not placed in the hands of unproven, unaccomplished parvenus.
We can learn from this past example in China that great empires can falter if they do not act swiftly to events which require intelligent planning and execution. Take this as a reason that the present ongoing GS matters must be guided and implemented with great care, or we risk a collapse of unimaginable magnitude, in a world where thermonuclear thunderclaps may be the last sounds heard by man before our history disappears forever. – WHA

The purpose of money is in our use of it as a means of exchange to buy goods and services at values predetermined by the worth of it placed upon the agreed-upon transaction itself.
Today, we are living in a time where those values are being challenged and forced to change around the world.
Currencies in the East are now being utilized as a means of value and in process of being determined for their values based upon the rate of their exchange through demand and the supply they hold of it.
Creating new values are determined by the people who use this money and those who govern it. (Money velocity) Because of these changes taking place, there is no doubt that a global Currency Reset is needed.
The question for many people out there is not if, but when will this take place. The simple answer is we already in the process of it.
There will come a time when new values will begin to form on chart calculations inside the market as the use of money in different areas of the country begin to put price pressures on these changes being created.
Bilateral agreements are happening hand over fist at this point. Many of these trades are no longer in the World Reserve Currency. Local economies in the East are utilizing their own paper money to fulfill trades. So, we watch and we wait. Changes are happening and prices are changed by price correlations formed through money velocity and digital transformations.
Around 90% of traded goods are carried over the waves. Here is the place where exports and imports shift the prices on goods and services by the demands placed on them.
Our shipping ports are becoming more and more digitized over time. The movement of money is increasing demand in order for supply to reach their destination at faster rates because of these digital integrations.
Watch the water.

People are beginning to pull their money off of digital exchanges right now in the crypto space.
Trillions of Shiba Inu tokens are just one of many cryptos leaving these exchangers.
Monetary policies on digital clarity are about to be unleashed from the Financial Stability Board at the G20 meeting.
Currently, this is causing the price of cryptocurrency to move into lower values. As clarity comes from the G20 meeting, look for new price action flows to enter into the market formulating authentic price patterns.
Just know, this is part of the transition into our new economy. On the other side of this transition, there will be new tokenized assets interfaced in the form of introductory coin/stock offerings placed into the system creating real values.
The process I am referring to does not happen all in one day, it will be phased in the rest of this year. Some assets will be mobilized quicker than others. Just stay watchful.

Thoughts From DJ: "Intel concerning the GCR/RV, at times, can seem overwhelming"
DJ: DID YOU KNOW?
This never ending cascade of Intel concerning the GCR/RV, at times, can seem overwhelming. How does an individual digest this information? One has to ask “what is the motivation behind the person, or persons, delivering the information?
Do these gurus have good intentions behind their efforts? It is not always the motives behind the action that makes it noble. Sometimes it’s as simple as the action itself. But at the end of the day “well done” is always better than “well said”.
Results are really all that matters. 50% of results is better than 100% of effort. All the efforts and good intentions of these Info streams, in the end can have damaging effects. I know that all of my words, if not well put are not well taken, are well meant
DJ: DID YOU KNOW?

Do these gurus have good intentions behind their efforts? It is not always the motives behind the action that makes it noble. Sometimes it’s as simple as the action itself. But at the end of the day “well done” is always better than “well said”.
Results are really all that matters. 50% of results is better than 100% of effort. All the efforts and good intentions of these Info streams, in the end can have damaging effects. I know that all of my words, if not well put are not well taken, are well meant.
But good intentions that are not wrapped in reason can lead to greater disasters than those actions built on ill will or stupidity.
It’s important to apply reason and common sense to the information one chooses to digest. In other words, never take any information for granted. Look behind the curtain and verify what has been said has actually been done before perceiving it as fact.
I’ve not seen any of the information these providers narrate ever come to pass. How many mistakes does it take before we realize the information presented is flawed, misrepresented or exaggerated? What gets my goat is the audience these Intel providers target. For the most part, those that I know who will be beneficiaries to the event plan on doing nothing but good for others.
What is heartbreaking is the way this world is so mean to people with pure intentions and soft hearts. There is to much cruelty towards good people that instead of being cherished, they are actually being used. Instead of being appreciated and valued, they are taken for granted.
We all know that person who’s there when needed and whose door is always wide open. So it is no wonder why the world is getting filthier and uglier. Since we always ruin everything beautiful left around, even those rare, kind and loving souls in our lives.
This mindset that the only way for perfect peace by man is absolute control of all wrongs is a long but dead end road. Bully cultures seem found with each and every mistake, another village idiot is shamed into nothingness and mindlessly shut down by the herd. This mentality will always be a superficial peace made by force and fear, one in which there is no freedom to breathe and the reason it is impossible for man to maintain freedom and peace for everyone at the same time.
For this utopian system we all expect to come from a GCR/RV/ Redemption, we must first praise, acknowledge and build on those kind souls who already exist. They are the foundation this new world should be built on. Strive to be them. One kind deed is more powerful than a thousand good intentions. Verify before accepting any narrative.
Burning bridges behind you is understandable. It’s the bridges before us that we burn, not realizing we need to cross, that brings regret.

‘Off – world’ Technology
The veil holding our souls captive on this planet, through the reincarnation process, will be lifted to free humanity, and evolve as the Creator intended for us. ‘Off-the-world’ technology will become available that will fix everything that is wrong on earth, and can keep us young and healthy.
Technologies, like healing machines that have been in extra terrestrially operation for a very long time. Called MedBeds; “keeps us young and healthy” for as long as we want, which could be about 1,000 years before a new race reaches the next level.

In their obsession with the questions like;
“When will the revelation come?”,
most people rarely ask useful questions about what might happen next. Some of the most fascinating developments to come relate to science and technology.
What scientific knowledge might aliens possess; what technology and knowledge might develop; and what might happen if we gain access to such technologies? Be assured that humans on Earth know only a thousandth of what is available to us today. More clarity will be provided in this article.
Nicola Tesla is the greatest inventor in human history
Nikola Tesla was a genius inventor who created some ground-breaking inventions. Tesla also collaborated with many big names and companies in history.
Serbian-American engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) made dozens of breakthroughs in the production, transmission and application of electric power. He invented the first alternating current (AC) motor and developed AC generation and transmission technology.
Though he was famous and respected, but die to resistance from the Deep State Cabal most of his important invention never made it to market. He was also never able to translate many of his copious inventions into long-term financial success, unlike his early employer and chief rival, Thomas Edison who was notorious cabal member.
Since his ideas and inventions were considered far out at their time, Tesla is often featured in science fiction television shows and movies. To high light some of his most notable works and explorations, in this video some commonly asked questions about his geniality and his life are exposed.
Tesla was a key player in my years of research. Already several articles just on Tesla topics have been published on FWC-sites.
Tesla was involved in many innovative experiments, but the cabal did not want his inventions to better the life of humanity, in particular his free energy, for everyone on planet Earth.
The navy wanted to make battleships invisible. It succeeded, but you could still see them through the wake in the water. This was the beginning of Tesla’s Stealth technology that is used in modern fighter planes today. Tesla may not have come from Earth and probably worked with other Universal races to develop his technology.
Soon we will get the free energy the cabal did not want us to have. Get ready for many shocking realities about to manifest. You have not seen anything yet.
The Tesla Tower could actually have powered the entire planet. No wires. All the ugly grid will come down or obsolete.
Tesla’s final years were filled with controversy and an apparent decline in his sanity. He would spend his last decade living alone in the Hotel New Yorker and working on new inventions even as his health and mental condition deteriorated.
Between 1933 and 1943, Tesla occupied a suites 3327 and 3328 at the Hotel New Yorker and he would rarely receive guests. He also ate an exclusively vegetarian diet and had his meals prepared for him personally by the hotel’s chef.
Tesla also apparently developed a fixation with the number three and would obsessively wash his hands and body after developing a form of mysophobia (germaphobia). In fact, when the hotel staff was permitted to enter his room, they were asked to remain at least three feet away from him.
On the 8th of January 1943, Tesla’s body was found in his hotel room. It was later discovered that he had died at approximately 10:45 pm on the 7th of January 1943. The visiting physician quickly qualified the cause of death to be coronary thrombosis.
A disorder normally caused by a build-up of cholesterol and fats in the blood vessel walls, primary causes for it are a high LDL cholesterol diet, smoking, a sedentary lifestyle, and hypertension. With such a strict diet, these conditions certainly would not have caused Tesla’s demise!
But this is not the entire story. Tesla also experienced a serious accident a few years before his death that may have contributed to his ultimate demise. In the autumn of 1937, Tesla left his hotel for his regular commute to the local cathedral and library.
While crossing the street, he was hit by a taxicab and thrown to the ground. This accident severely damaged his back and broke several ribs. He never consulted a doctor and apparently learned to cope with his injuries on his own. In other words the official cause of his death is questionable, especially as was known the cabal looked eagerly forward to his death.

Nikola Tesla was one of the most prolific and innovative engineers and inventors of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His illustrious inventive endeavours began in the early-1880s while he was working at the Central Telegraph Office in Budapest.
However, there is little or no information from that time about attempts to apply for patents for his work. Tesla’s first confirmed patent, for the electric arc lamp, was filed after his arrival in the United States, in March 1884.
The vast majority of his patents were filed after he left Edison Comp and founded his own company, ‘Tesla Electric Light and Manufacturing’. Up until 1928, Tesla appears to have protected many of his inventions with patents all across the world.
Below is a brief list of Nikola Tesla’s top inventions, far from complete and not in any specific order of invention.
Tesla Coil
Chances are that you have already seen this invention. It is a transformer used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high-frequency alternating-current electricity. To observers, it appears as if lightning is being shot into the air.
Magnifying Transmitter
Tesla had intended the Tesla coil to be part of a wireless energy system that was a cornerstone for many of Tesla’s other experiments. By running a wire connected to the resonator around his lab, he infused his lab with electromagnetic energy and was able to wirelessly light a fluorescent bulb he held in his hand because the voltage drop through the air was large enough to induce sufficient current.
Tesla Turbine
Tesla saw the rise of the piston engine in the automobile industry as a way to make a change in the world. He developed his own turbine-style engine that used combustion to make disks rotate. The fuel efficiency of his engine was as high as 90%, a big achievement considering this is similar to the efficiency of some modern turbines of today.
4 Shadowgraph
While Rontgen has been credited with developing the first X-ray films, called shadowgraphs, there is clear evidence that Tesla was also working in this area. The problem is that Tesla lost a lot of his work due to a fire in his lab.
Radio
Before his lab burned down, Tesla discovered that he could use his coils to transmit and receive powerful radio signals, tuning them to resonate at the same frequency. By early 1895, he was ready to transmit a signal 50 miles from his lab to West Point, New York. But the fire in Tesla’s lab destroyed his work.
While he was rebuilding, a young Italian experimenter named Guglielmo Marconi, who was working in England, took out the first wireless telegraphy patent. When Marconi later set up long-distance demonstrations, he used a Tesla oscillator to transmit the signals across the English Channel.
The Neon Lamp
Tesla did not invent fluorescent or neon lights, but he did contribute to improving both inventions. He took the lights and created the first neon sign.
At the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, he demonstrated neon light signs and how they can make unique designs and even form words. Thanks to Tesla you can identify your favourite bar.
Niagara Falls Transformer House
When it came to deciding which company could build a power generator at Niagara Falls, Thomas Edison was the first choice. But after looking at Tesla’s work for Westinghouse Electric, the Niagara Falls commission chose Tesla’s alternating current system. Despite doubts, Tesla’s system worked well and became a standard for hydroelectric power..
The Induction Motor
The first AC commutator-free three-phase induction motor was invented independently by Galileo Ferraris and Nikola Tesla. Although Ferraris presented his engine first, in 1885, it was Tesla who filed for a patent first.
George Westinghouse, who was developing an alternating current power system at that time, licensed Tesla’s patents in 1888. This type of motor is commonly used in vacuums, blow dryers, and power tools, even today.
Radio-Controlled Boat
Tele-automation controlled the first radio-controlled boat designed by Tesla. After he was denied a patent because the patent office thought it was not feasible, he proved them wrong by demonstrating the boat at the Electrical Exhibition in 1898.
Alternating Current
Alternating current is considered Tesla’s greatest achievement. Although he was not the inventor of alternating current, he made it easier to use on a large scale.
AC power allows for electricity to be sent over long distances much more efficiently. Westinghouse bought Tesla’s AC patents and used them to bid on the lighting of the Chicago World’s Fair.
They won the contract and were able to provide power at around $150,000, which is less than it would have cost to provide power using direct current.

Tesla’s apparent instinctive skill for invention and unfathomable imagination made him one of the most prolific inventors of our age.
Med Bed Frequency Healing never materialised
Nikola Tesla’s Frequency healing device is explained in this video.
Anyone who is not at the specific Earth frequency for awakening and healing to incoming ascension energies; or incoming waves of harmonic resonance, leading to unity consciousness, will either have to transform or fail.
This process consists of body and soul, and is not a fantasy, it is measurable, real science and fact; called Schumann resonances. These are global Electromagnetic resonances, generated and activated by energies from our Universe, visible as lightning, among other things.
Ancient Egyptians already used certain resonant vowel sounds in their ancient rituals; these vowels were considered extremely sacred so they were removed from the colloquial language and no longer appeared in the written hieroglyphic language.
Furthermore, during ceremonies, the Egyptians used an instrument called “Sistrum“, a rattle with metal discs, which has been shown to produce exceptionally high levels of ultrasound.
Nikola Tesla was unparalleled in his time, and perhaps also in ours. And that raises an interesting question. If Tesla were alive today, what would the world look like in our future? Think about it and write your suggestion in the comment box below.

The Dark Side of Money
The Dark Side of Money

What we can learn from the ways money brings out the worst in us
Last year, the YouTuber Mr. Beast posted a Twitter poll that revealed an evilness lurking in our relationship with money.
As you can see, almost half the respondents said “Yes.” Yes, to the death of a person – who could be a devoted parent, an innocent child, the world’s leading cancer researcher, or Tom Hanks – for $10,000, about the worth of a used Honda.
It’s proof that money has power. The power to take our lives – with diligent saving and patient investing – to great heights. But also the power to lead us to some dark places.

Perhaps, that’s where the best financial lessons lie.
When discussing how dark experiences acted as life’s greatest teacher, endurance athlete and former Navy SEAL David Goggins said: “There are no answers in the light… knowledge comes from the muck.”
The same rings true for money; financial knowledge often comes from unfortunate events — job loss, market crashes, bankruptcy, fraud, et al. Most finance books and articles tell us we deserve financial success. Less frequent are those that help people identify their own toxic relationships with money as a route to personal growth. Fortunately, we can learn from the experiences of others.
For instance, I’ll briefly tell you why I don’t gamble. It’s not that I think gambling is a waste of money (which I do), or that I think the “games” are boring (which I do), or that I think of casinos as pitiful dungeons soiled with the stench of stale cigarette smoke and desperation (which I also do). It’s because it reminds me of the tragic death of a family.
When I was 18, my best friend called me one day to tell me that a family had been found murdered in their home nearby. This was a quiet, upper-class neighborhood where such tragedies never happened. Out of shock, we drove by the family’s once comfortable home that now resembled the set of a cop show with telltale props and extras – yellow tape, detectives, reporters, coroners.
It turned out the killer was the father. He had been a successful businessman who started to gamble and gamble some more, and then he started to lose and lose some more, until he inevitably lost almost everything. Distraught and at rock bottom, he decided to cash in the last thing he had left, the lives of his family and his own.
The experience taught me how a potentially big financial windfall could influence our psyche, like a siren call toward the rocks and cliffs of financial ruin. And at times, much worse.
I don’t believe money is not inherently evil. But research shows that it can trigger the worst parts of our nature if we let it.
The surprising thing? Unfortunate consequences can arise through both financial strain and abundance. Go too far in either direction, and you end up in the same miserable place.
So, when does money transform from an illusory store of value to an accessory to evil? How do we keep it from ruling over us?
How does this relate to our own financial lives?
Humans may have an inherent sensitivity to fairness, which explains why inequality can feel so stressful and damaging.
Consider a video of an experiment with two capuchin monkeys, our distant relatives often used in psychological tests as human stunt doubles. The capuchins perform the task of giving the experimenter a rock in exchange for a slice of cucumber.

Mot: What I Realized After My Kids Said “Mom” 159 Times in 6 Hours
Let me start by saying that I love my children. More than anything in this world. More than shopping alone at Target. More than Ben & Jerry’s Truffle Kerfuffle.
BUT.
If I hear the word “Mom” just one more time today, I am going to lose my ever-lovin’ mind. In fact, I just googled “how many questions do kids ask in a day” because I know I’m not alone here.
Are you ready for this? According to a UK study, moms field nearly 300 questions a day from their offspring, making them the most quizzed people around, above even teachers, doctors, and nurses.

Fun fact: Girls aged four are the most curious, averaging a question every one minute, 56 seconds of their waking day.
No wonder emails go unanswered, laundry piles up, library books expire before they are read, we scramble at the last minute for that birthday gift (please don’t ever leave me, Amazon Prime).
We are constantly interrupted during any given task.
As an experiment, I decided to make a list of all the times I heard the word “Mom” followed by a question or comment.
I grabbed a small notebook like Harriet the Spy and lasted exactly six hours before my hand cramped from all the writing.
In those six hours, I was beckoned ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-NINE times. While I won’t torture you with reading all 159 questions and comments posed to me, here’s a small sampling below:
9-year-old daughter
“Mom, who are you?” (Like, in an existential way?)
“Mom, has any human ever had 26 children?” (Yes. And they all have a reality TV show.)
“Mom, guess how many butt cheeks are in our house?” (Um…does the dog count?)
“Mom, this kid at school said that one middle finger equals 20 BAD WORDS. How is that possible?” (Oh, it’s possible.)
“Mom, I just found a HUMONGOUS house in California and it only costs $14 million dollars.” (Okay, I’ll get right on that purchase, sweetie.)
“Mom, can I put a ghost detector app on your phone?” (I’d kind of rather not know when there’s a ghost near me sooo…no.)
“Mom, I have a super duper secret.” (There should be no secrets from your mother. Ever.)
“Mom, do you want to play catch with me?” (Can’t, because I need a free hand to write down the 29 questions you will ask me while playing.)
“Mom, I can run down the hall and back 10 times in 37 seconds. Do you want to try?” (I’m good, thanks.)
“Mom, I need a band-aid.” (x3)
“Mom, what are we doing today?” (Apparently I am spending my day answering questions)
“Mom, can I invite a friend over?” (Will they ask me any questions?)
“Mom, can I have candy?” (If a mouthful of candy keeps you quiet for 2 minutes, then yes.)
“Mom, I changed my mind about my Halloween costume.” (AGAIN??)
“Mom, can you tell the dog to move?” (Because I speak dog and you don’t?)
“Mom, can I see heaven but not die first?” (Ok, I am officially not qualified to answer any more questions.)
“Mom (watching me write), why do you keep writing stuff down?”
15-year-old son
“Mom, we have nothing to eat.” (Staring into the overflowing refrigerator)
“Mom, have you seen my phone?” (x3)
“Mom, I can’t find my phone.”
“Mom, can I borrow your phone?”
“Mom, can you buy some posterboard?”
“Mom, what are you writing?”
“An article.”
“On what?”
“How many questions I’m asked in a day.”
“Why? Is it a lot?”
“Seriously?? I’m adding that one.”
18-year-old daughter (away at college)
“Mom…did you change the Netflix password?” (Of course I did, you haven’t called me in two days)
Mind you, I did this experiment on a Sunday, and my husband was home the whole time. He is a great, very involved, hands-on dad.
But do you know how many questions I heard them ask him during that time? ONE.
When I said no to playing catch with my daughter, she asked him to play. He immediately said yes, probably because he wasn’t exhausted from 158 prior questions.
When I sat down to write this post, I stared at the list for each of my three kids. And something hit me like a ton of bricks.
The older they get, the WAY less questions they ask. The less thoughts and feelings they share.
Those big kids have their friends and their smarter-than-a-mom phones.
My older kids would never ask me what the population of China is, they would simply Google it.
But to my little one, I’m still the go-to…the one with all the answers.
And I guess that’s a pretty great thing to be.
It’s hard to face the fact that, though my older kids still need me, it’s just not in the same way my younger child does.
Someday all too soon my 9-year-old will be an 18-year-old. And one morning, I’ll wake up and there won’t be anyone left to pepper me with questions all day long.
And as much as they drive me crazy, I’m not quite ready for that yet.
So for as long as they’re asking, I’ll be right here answering. ❤
