MZ: Still no money movement as of today. I was told the article they need with the whitepapers is to be voted on and passed this Saturday.

Q: What are the white papers?

MZ: They are the economic reforms/monetary reforms in Iraq. Part of them passed on Tuesday….other articles have passed throughout the week. I am told the article we need is to be voted on is this Saturday. I was told clearly from people on the ground over there that there is not a rate yet and are looking for that in the Saturday vote.

MZ: Some that had left the last couple weeks are busy returning. I couple I know will be arriving Sat. Morning here in the states. Most of the attorneys and POAs that I have contact with are expecting liquidity Monday or Tuesday.

Cuba prepares for 'profound transformation' of its monetary system, urges calm

President Miguel Díaz-Canel said last week the country would end up with a single currency and exchange rate with the dollar, but did not specify a rate or the date of devaluation.

HAVANA—Cuba’s economy minister has urged calm as the government prepares to unify its dual currency system and multiple exchange rates in hopes of improving economic performance.

The Caribbean island nation is undergoing a crisis caused by an onslaught of new U.S. sanctions on top of a decades-old embargo, the pandemic and its inefficient Soviet-style command economy.

Alejandro Gil, speaking during a prime-time broadcast on state-run television on Monday, said the country could not overcome the crisis without unification which he said included wage, pension and other measures to protect the population.

“It is a profound transformation that the economy needs that will impact companies and practically everyone,” Gil said.

“It is for the good of the economy and good of our people because it creates favorable economic conditions that will reverberate through more production, services and jobs,” he added.

The monetary reform, expected before the end of the year, will eliminate the convertible peso while leaving a devalued peso, officially exchanged since the 1959 Revolution at one peso to the dollar.

The soon to be removed convertible peso is also officially set at one to 10 pesos to the dollar for state companies and 24 pesos sell and 25 pesos buy with the population.

The government has stated numerous times that residents will be given ample time to exchange convertible pesos at the current rate once it is taken out of circulation and banks will automatically do the same with convertible peso accounts.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel said last week the country would end up with a single currency and exchange rate with the dollar but did not say what that rate might be or the date devaluation would happen.

Foreign and domestic economists forecast the move will cause triple digit inflation and bankruptcies while at the same time stimulating domestic economic efficiency and exports over imports.

The state controls the lion’s share of the economy and sets most wages and prices. Neither domestic currency is tradable outside Cuba.

“There will be no shock therapy here, the vulnerable will be protected. At the same time, it will favor motivation to work and the need to work to live,” Gil said.

Díaz-Canel announced in July that market-oriented reforms approved by the Communist party a decade ago and never implemented, including monetary measures, would be quickly put in place in response to the crisis. He said last week that monetary reform had now been approved by the all-powerful politburo.

Cuba, dependent on food, fuel and other imports has been caught short of cash as sanctions hit its foreign exchange revenues and the pandemic demolishes tourism and undermines remittances, creating food, medicine and other shortages.

Last year, the government began opening better stocked foreign exchange stores for people with access to dollars or a basket of other international currencies from remittances and other sources. However, all transactions must be electronic, for example through debit cards.

Foreign and local economists forecast economic activity will decline at least 8% this year, with trade down by around a third.

MZ: I do not think its excuses. I think they have a firm fixed date. I do not think they are postponing or kicking a can. I think it is set and we just do not know that time. Even people with the best intel are speculating on the timing.

Over the past 2 months I am told from a contact in Interpol that as the rats have been trying to get early payouts….trying to fractionalize foreign currencies …that they have rounded up a tremendous number of rats as we are moving to the end of this thing. MZ: I have not seen money moving this weekend….nobody  in Asia got paid….nobody in Europe got paid. There were rumors of 2 banks being sanctioned by Interpol by “jumping the gun” a little bit early. I am trying to get the information on which banks in Europe did that. I am being told that Interpol has been doing a large number of stings on groups that are trying to leverage foreign currencies illegally ahead of time. That has been happening heavily the last couple weeks as they try to make sure everything is cleaned up.

MZ: I hope to have bank names tomorrow where some of the biggest stings happened. .

MZ: The vote on the “White papers”  is supposed to happen tomorrow in Iraq. It should give us the value once it passes…..so all eyes are on Iraq tomorrow as it appears everyone is now in position to move. .

MZ: Still hearing the same rates….still hearing street rates on the dinar are $3.70-$3.80. with contract rates around $8. We did start to see chatter about a $15-$1 rate coming out of Iraq.  Guess we will see sonn h=whether that is true or not.

MZ: Still hearing the same rate on the dong that the contract rate will be the low $2 range…similar with Indonesia.   The Zim rates are all over the place. The majority rumors I hear are from $11 -$36 million for a 100 T note. Remember these are all just rumors until we get there .

MZ: This has been a tremendous weekend for disclosure. Probably our biggest breaking piece over the weekend was the World health Organization saying it’s time to lift all restrictions and get back to work.

MZ: This is really big….It is domination news cycles throughout Asia and parts of Europe…..i doubt we will even hear about it here is the US.

MZ: I am hearing from my European contacts, paymasters and attorneys  that they are expecting liquidity sometime tomorrow.
