A directive was issued to all the banks in Iraq not to pay salaries this month until the income tax is applied at a later date.
Al-Kadhimi broadcast on Iraqi TV stating that a surprise is coming to the citizens in an effort to calm them.
The citizens are mad about the decrease in their payments.
Yada: “The citizens are mad about the decrease in their payments” indicates to me that the adjustment to their salaries has been applied and receiving increased spending

Iraq is facing its worst economic crisis since 2003, worsened by the global drop in oil prices and the coronavirus pandemic.
Mustafa al-Kadhimi's government led by has proposed austerity measures, including capping the amount and number of state salaries and pensions people can receive.
Many people rely on pensions and reparations from the government.

Today, Thursday, the head of the Bairaq Al-Khair bloc, Muhammad Al-Khaldi, demanded the trial of dismissed Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi for his silence on corruption and the killing of demonstrators, while he called on the current Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to implement his promises of economic reform.
Al-Khaldi told Al-Akhbariya that “Al-Kazemi’s government does not differ from its predecessors by quotas and division of positions,” pointing out that “Al-Kazemi promised us to implement ten points, most notably economic reform.”
He added that "cutting the salaries of the retirees and returning them was a bad point for Al-Kazemi," noting that "the Al-Kazemi government will not succeed because of its acquiescence in political forces."
Al-Khalidi stressed "the necessity for Al-Kazimi to work with the courts and collect clear evidence in preparation for the trial of Abdel-Mahdi for his silence on corruption in his capacity as the former prime minister, and also to train him on charges of issuing orders or turning a blind eye to killing protesters as the commander-in-chief of the then-armed forces."
