Samson: Oil stabilizes after US and China agree to hold trade talks next month

Oil prices held steady on Friday as Brent and West Texas benchmark crude producers rallied for weekly gains amid a sharp drop in US oil inventories, while trade tensions eased after Washington and Beijing agreed to hold high-level talks next month.
By 0339 GMT, Brent crude was up 6 cents at $ 61.01 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate rose 5 cents to $ 56.35 a barrel.
Brent and WTI spent the Asian session recording a slight move, either up or down.
Brent is heading for its fourth weekly gain, while US crude is heading higher for the second week.
Beijing and Washington agreed on Thursday to hold high-level talks in early October in Washington, welcomed by investors hoping to end a trade war between the world's two largest economies that has led to mutual tariff increases, hurting economic growth.
The prolonged conflict is adversely affecting oil prices, although prices have risen throughout the year, supported by production cuts led by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia, to run stocks.
The US Energy Information Administration said that inventories of oil and oil products in the United States fell last week, with crude inventories fell for the third consecutive week despite a jump in imports.
Crude inventories fell 4.8 million barrels, nearly doubling compared to analysts' forecasts, to 423 million barrels, the lowest level since October 2018. LINK

Samson: Pompeo: "Century deal" may be announced within weeks

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Friday he believed the Trump administration would reveal in the coming weeks details of the long-delayed peace plan between the Palestinians and Israel.
Asked after a speech at the University of Kansas, Pompeo said: "I think we will announce our vision in the coming weeks."
White House envoy Jason Greenblatt said last week that the United States would not reveal the political part of the plan ahead of Israel's September 17 elections. LINK
