Saturday 11 July 2020 52 Baghdad / Al-Sabah First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi recommended stopping the renewal of mobile phone licenses recently approved by the Council of Ministers, noting that this recommendation comes due to poor service provided by the telephone companies, while MP Alaa Al-Rubaie confirmed the intention to conduct an investigation into the decision-making mechanisms and He stands behind the debt proposals for the benefit of or even the announced amount of the license.
According to a statement issued by his office, Al-Sabah received a copy of it. Al-Kaabi recommended the cabinet to stop its decision to renew mobile phone licenses due to poor service by the phone companies, problems related to its debts, and the high price of the cost for communications and the Internet.
The first deputy's address came after the official requests that were submitted by three parliamentary committees, namely "media and communications, integrity and finance."
Al-Kaabi called on the cabinet to present the request to the ministers to reverse the decision to renew these companies and inform the parliament.
For his part, member of the House of Representatives Alaa Al-Rubaie said in a statement that Al-Sabah received a copy of it, that "at a time when everyone expected that the Media and Communications Commission will back down from its decision to extend the contracts of mobile phone companies after the national positions of the Iraqi people in general and to deputies, politicians and elites rejecting this disgraceful decision We find that it comes out to us to play the role of lawyer for these companies instead of protecting the interests of Iraq,
which has suffered and is still suffering from the mismanagement of some of its institutions, and we find it not keen on public money to find unrealistic construction justifications for these companies through justification on the pretext of their operating expenses such as electricity, security and others. .
Al-Rubaie added, "Everyone knows that the current conditions of Iraq are much better than in 2007, and these companies when I entered the Iraqi market have a complete idea of the conditions in which they live, in addition to these companies failing to implement many of the terms of their work licenses, especially technical ones, as well as poor service and prices. ".
He continued, "We will carry out high-level investigations on this, as well as demanding all the records of negotiating with these companies, which the authority mentioned in the statement, as well as the mechanisms for calculating these prices and how to issue decisions of the Board of Trustees that were submitted to the cabinet meeting and the accompanying of the violations that have been indicated."
He pointed out that "the House of Representatives will remain the defender of public money and will hold accountable all those who obstructed the launch of the fourth license, which the Media and Communications Authority was declaring to us its readiness as well as the project of the National Mobile Company and in the interest of those who were delayed."
Stressing, "We will investigate the mechanisms of taking this decision and who is behind the proposals for debt allocation and in the interest of or even the amount of the declared license amount."
Al-Rubaie pointed out that "the statement of the Media and Communications Commission tried to overlook again and falsify the facts on the cabinet by saying that this decision will contribute to increasing the volume of trades of these companies in the Iraq Stock Exchange, and everyone knows as these companies' trades indicate that they are ink on paper and did not achieve interest The real thing is because the listings were marred by a lot of mystery and corruption, and we will have a tour of that File ".
