A political source revealed, this evening, to Al-Furat, that "the nomination of candidate Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi has not been resolved, and he may falter and search for another candidate."
Sources revealed this afternoon, citing a source familiar with the most likely candidate to head the transitional government, who may be assigned tonight.
The source stated that, "After excluding 3 candidates from the position, [Qasim al-Araji, Mustafa al-Kazemi and Ali Allawi] from the nomination, the competition between [Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi] and [Ali Shukri] was limited."
He added, "According to political sources, [Allawi] is the favorite and most likely to assign him."
