chattels   The US has advised its nationals to leave Iraq and is deploying an additional 3,000 troops to the Middle East.

These events “indicate there is a further exacerbation of the situation in Iraq,” read the statement from President Nechirvan Barzani’s office. “Therefore, we reject all steps by other countries to settle scores on Iraqi soil and violate Iraqi sovereignty.”

Iraq must not be a “battleground for other countries to settle their disputes,” Barzani added, urging foreign powers to open a dialogue.

The Kurdistan Region president noted that both Soleimani and Muhandis played a role in the war against the Islamic State (ISIS) and warned against giving ISIS space to regroup.

“The continuation of these complications, actions and reactions, will push Iraq and the region towards an abyss and an uncertain future; it will also lead to the resurgence and strengthening of extremist and terrorist groups, such as ISIS,” he stated.

Chattels   Pompeo spoke to Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani late on Friday to discuss the matter. "I thanked him for his steadfast partnership. We agreed on the need for continued, close cooperation," the diplomat said on Twitter.

Barzani added via Twitter that he and Pompeo "agreed on the importance of deescalating tensions in Iraq through restraint and dialogue."

chattels   The reaction of the Iraqi public was not as strong as Iran might have expected. The president, prime minister and most of the Iraqi political parties — including Sunnis, Kurds and Shiites, among them Muqtada al-Sadr's and Ammar al-Hakim's movements — only denounced the event, calling all involved parties in Iraq to be patient and avoid any clash on Iraqi territory.

chattels   In fact, the economic hardship in Iran — in addition to the challenges the government is facing internally — would not allow Tehran to increase the tension. Iran’s past conduct against Israel strikes on Iranian bases in Syria also shows it will not seek revenge if its national security and interests are in danger.

chattels   Iran is also very unlikely to push its Iraqi political forces to go ahead with legislation asking US troops to leave the country, as this would raise strong objections from Kurdish and Sunni forces and push them to work for separation. Iran would be the first party affected by such a dangerous move.

chattels   The foregoing is a good read in it's entirety.

Chattels   And that's the way that it is from the news that I find out of or about Iraq on this Saturday, January 4, 2020.

Sparky   chattels ..thank you for the articles

Sparky   … I favor Trumps move against Solemani (sp), eliminated major evil player, and certainly got Iran's attention...Trump ready to escalate or negotiate...per earlier tweets,...either way, Iran needs to be neutralized, and now is the time...imo...

Clay   Amen Sparky

Francis    agree with KAP who posted Friday that there's no way the CBI can magically reduce the money supply from 45 Trillion to 5 Trillion. I am not paying close enough attention to know what the number Frank is saying the 5 T posted on CBI means.

Francis Albert   There is one possibility that I have posted a few times in counter point to KAP's money supply argument I've seen. It is Possible, that Central Banks around the World hold/held most of the 45 Trillion Dinar...not only possible...but, probable. And, being Central Banks, as banks of issue, and ALL controlled by Dollar Inc. (except for Iran, S Korea, China, Russia), and IF...the Dollar Boys, (who started the whole thing in Iraq), want iraq to prosper...they can easily just destroy the Dinar they hold...all to achieve their goals.

Francis Albert   I've posited this possible scenario months ago, again in response to KAP, yet He's never responded to this idea.

Francis Albert   There's always a way.

Sparky   \Francis Albert ...hopefully the "chunky money" is not in the hands of Isis, Iran, etc., ...best case scenario, the majority is in CBIs...

Francis Albert   Sparky, not sure what you are saying exactly. If the CBI has all the actual notes (physical or digital for that matte) they can just destroy them if they want...as all Central Banks do regularly in one way or another. Like Cheeto's Central Banks, can always cruch, (create) more "money".

Francis Albert   KAP's basic argument is based on his opinion that there's 45 Trillion Dinar out there that would come home to roost with an increase in value and thus, he argues, a substantial increase can't happen. IMO, he's just not looking at the whole picture.

Sparky   Francis Albert ...Im wondering where all the IQD is...after all, Isis was in control of nearly a third of Iraq for a few years, plenty of time to siphon off IQD to wherever they chose...

Sparky   ...Iran prospering from the auctions...

Sparky   Francis Albert ...certainly agree the big money boys can do what they want...no doubt about that...hegalian dialectic unfolding before us...imo...

Sparky   ...hegalian dialectic...imu...creating a desired outcome, and convincing the populace to agree to that outcome, via manipulation and propaganda...

Francis Albert   If ISIS and Iran had mountains of Dinar they would be doing everything in their grasp to help some kind of monetary reform, and they are doing just the opposite.

Sparky   ...first, I believe Isis was allowed to run wild in Iraq after Maliki realized he was not going to be re elected PM...even threatened hell fire if he was not, then delivered Iraqi arms and uniforms to Isis back in 2014. Also, Maliki is an Iranian crony...or was...and, ...wouldn't they win either way...low value, keeping peeps poor,... or monetary gain with higher valuation...if they hoarded IQD...?

Sparky   ...on a side note, if the New England Patriots could convince Gronk to come back and finish out the season, Pats may be able to take home another ring...

Sparky   ...for all I think I know, this could pop tomorrow...or 10 years from now...lol...

Sparky   ...interesting timing in taking out one of the monsters of Iran...anti SoFA, being in Bahgdad, may have punched his ticket...

Doug_WSparky SoFA?

Sparky   Doug_W ...status of forces agreement, Solemani wanted to dissolve agreement...
