There are established accounting procedures in place for depreciation but other than gold, there are no such procedures for appreciation. Many moons ago the government banks in Iraq had to get permission from the IMF to revalue certain assets, something that caused a bit of hysteria at the time. No country has ever revalued the currency to an extent that would mean changes in the accounts, minor revaluations can be absorbed relatively easily.

Shafaq News / On Thursday, Iraqi President Barham Salih expressed his surprise at the recent emergence of signs of "tension" between the federal governments and the Kurdistan Region, ahead of an imminent agreement between the two sides regarding the pending issues.

Saleh said in a statement received by Shafaq News, that he "was supportive and constantly following the course of the discussions to reach a fair legal settlement on this issue, and that many obstacles were overcome in recent days through dialogue."

He expressed "his surprise at the appearance of signs of tension in media statements that do not reflect reality of the talks, which it was hoped that an agreement would be concluded before the end of this week, which represents a just and legal solution that preserves the rights of the Iraqi people, including the rights of citizens, both employees and retirees, in the Kurdistan Region."

The currency auction that is taking place in the Central Bank of Iraq is one of the most corrupt files in Iraq, because it causes the waste of hard currency money obtained as a result of selling oil on fake projects and importing materials that do not exist on the ground.

This comes at a time when the Iraqi economy is suffering great paralysis due to the low price of crude oil, and the resort to borrowing from international banks.

With economists describing the currency auction as a "dollar depletion front and an opportunity for some banks owned by influential parties to achieve large profits," most estimates talk about more than 500 billion dinars sold by the Central Bank in its continuous daily operations since 2003.

In this context, the Central Bank of Iraq sells dollars to private banks and money transfer companies, some of which belong to influential personalities and militias loyal to Iran.

The basic idea of the currency auction revolves around "selling dollars to private banks and money transfer companies to manage the import of goods." The facts are the facts, there can never be a significant overnight RV of the dinar as long as 42 trillion exists outside the CBI for several reason...

1 being obvious that NO country could ever supports such a nonsensical number, 2 being that it exceed more than 3 time the entire mineral worth of Iraq including all oil in the ground. To think they RV because they are poor or need money to some amount near the dollar or more is shear ridiculous.

And even if there was a fairy that did that no one would accept the arbitrary rate. It simply not how exchange rates are determined. If the dinar is going to be worth near the dollar, Iraq will either vote via parliament (and they want to) to remove the zeros and redenominate (LOP) so they reduce the money supply from about 42 trillion to 42 billion which is well within reason to now manage making your investment a either neutral or a slight loss (in essence a waste of your time).

In fact, one economist in Iraq suggested just a few weeks ago that they devalue the dinar to about 1800 to $1 to save on the economic and Corona losses and then redenominate (LOP) making the dinar worth 1/2 of the dollar or about .50 cents. in the case of such an event, your dinar would be worth around half of what you paid for it!

Kaperoni  Or... they are going to do what everyone (IMF, WB etc. has directed them to do for years and create a market economy. Doing so would invite private international investors into Iraq and diversify the countries resources.

Such an event could or would create an opportunity for Iraq to get off the peg/dollar and move to a more flexible exchange rate regime (float) giving the CBI a tool to relieve pressure on the financial system as a result of the significant influx of capital as a result of the successful growth in the economy. This option is out best option to see an increase in value as the currency could be reduced gradually as it appreciates. No other options really exist.

The guru’s refuse to really speak the truth on this because neither one sells dinar. I have seem thousands buy into the scam (and it happens every few years) thinking they would get wealthy to only realize they have been swindled and lied to. Some leave, some don’t. I don’t really care. Either be prepared to making near nothing or wait years for Iraq to pull there head out of there ass and create the conditions for economic prosperity . There are no shortcuts.

The Director General of the Authority, Shaker Al-Zubaidi, said in a taxation reported by the official news agency "Conscious" that "its revenues for the month of July amounted to approximately 177 billion dinars, with a growth rate of 15 percent compared to July of last year," indicating that "public taxes achieve a financial surplus to support the treasury." The state despite the repercussions of the Corona virus and its impact on the economies of Iraq and the world.

He added that "public taxes are the ones with the highest rate of revenue at 40 percent of total customs revenues, which contribute to strengthening the public budget after oil revenues," noting that "these revenues will enable the national economy to support investment and national development."

And the General Tax Authority had counted the revenues of the first half of this year, indicating that tax revenues amounted to more than one trillion and 500 billion dinars during the first half of this year, despite the measures of the Corona pandemic and its impact on commercial movement.

The Federal Reserve Board announces that Individual Large Bank Capital Requirements which will be effective on October 1st. Which means basically that large banks capitol must be increased and they must have additional cash requirements to cover things. This is basically like Basel 3….this is the deadline here in the US to make sure all the banks here are compliant and have sufficient cash requirements.

There is no dispute that during the time of the occupation the KWD could be bought at such a value as the currency was no longer the national currency of Kuwait and had no value. At the end of the occupation the KWD was reinstated as the national currency with the previous value of 3.47 US dollars. Protecting the Development Fund for Iraq and Certain Other Property in Which Iraq Has An Interest

The first part is the order related to the DFI which must be renewed.

This order is the protection of Iraq’s money (known as the DFI fund) which is where all proceeds go from the sale of Iraqi assets such as petroleum and petroleum products, etc. The purpose of this order then allows the revenue to be used in an orderly reconstruction of Iraq, the restoration and maintenance of peace and security in the country.

This is scheduled to expire May 22nd 2013. Since this would expire, Iraq would have to be in a position to fully manage their financial obligations or fall risk to unresolved creditor and debts.

As an example, the Paris Club debt agreement with many countries totaling 100 billion in debt relief was conditional. In order for the debt to be forgiven, each country negotiated acceptable resolutions and terms with Iraq. Much of this is known as “benchmarks” that Iraq must achieve to fulfill those obligations, thus granting the debt relief. Those terms were incorporated into the recent IMF Stand by Agreement that expired February 23rd, 2013 (after extension).

If Iraq failed to meet those “benchmarks” these funds could be at risk and subject to seizure once EO 13303 expires. This part of EO 13303 must be renewed every year until Iraq is self sufficient or risks asset seizure.

The second part of 13303 terminates previous Executive Orders (restrictions)

This part requires no review or extensions. It does not expire, and it would take another Executive Order to reinstate. This is the part that, as a result, gives US citizens the right to invest and do business in Iraq.

This order EO 13303 simply terminates three other orders… Executive Orders 12722, 12724, or 13290 that were already in effect pertaining to Iraq.

As a result, investment in the new Iraq is then guaranteed under the Presidential Order 13303 because it removed previous orders which were blocking investment and trade.

13303 in essence, by the termination of these three previous EO’s allows for a restructuring of the banking system in Iraq. And US citizens to invest in Currency, Stocks, Bonds, Real Estate and do Business in Iraq. This was a discrete and indirect way of lifting and canceling previous orders on Iraq giving each of you the right to own the New Iraqi Dinar.

Since Iraq is opening up to the global economy and integrating with the world, there is no need to consider or impose any such future orders limiting or preventing investment.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced that the Iraqi federal government intends to obtain quantities of electrical energy from the Kurdistan Region and from Turkey to supply the rest of the Iraqi cities with electricity, and if that happens, "we have our conditions."

On Monday (27 July 2020), the Minister of Electricity in the Iraqi Federal Government, Majid Mahdi Hantoush, announced in a press statement that followed a meeting between him and the governor of Najaf, Luay Al-Yasiri, that he had met with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, about finding an urgent solution to provide electricity For Iraqi citizens, and that they decided to buy 450 megawatts of electricity from the Kurdistan region and 200 megawatts from Turkey, and that this would increase the provision of electricity to the cities of central Iraq.

A spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Electricity Ministry, Omid Ahmed, said that they had received information about these Iraqi government efforts.

Among the conditions of the Kurdistan Region Ministry of Electricity is that supplying Iraqi cities with electricity does not affect the national electricity in the Kurdistan Region and does not lead to a shortage of supply to the region’s citizens, and then Baghdad provides fuel for the stalled electricity production units in the Kurdistan Region to obtain in return the electricity produced from these Units.

The discontinued electric power production units in the Kurdistan Region are owned by investors, but a spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Electricity Ministry says: “If the federal government implements these conditions and the Kurdistan Regional Government agrees, we will allow them to be supplied with electricity.”  There are 14 power plants in the Kurdistan Region, with a total production capacity of 6,737 megawatts   https://economy-news.net/content.php?id=21367

The Parliamentary Economic Committee announced, on Monday, a plan to improve the Iraqi economy through investment, while it revealed a meeting with the Prime Minister, during which it presented the problems that hinder investment and put in place solutions to revitalize it.

"The committee has a plan to improve the economy and strengthen the budget, by opening broad and large horizons for investment, as well as how to empower the investor and facilitate his mission in Iraq and reduce red tape," said a member of the committee, MP Atwan Al-Atwani, according to the official agency.

He added, "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi met with the members of the committee, where all the problems facing investment and investors were presented, foremost of which is the absence of an investment map in Iraq approved by the investment authorities, but rather a map drawn by the investor himself, and on his mood and desire."

He cited, saying: "The capital, Baghdad, includes many commercial malls that are only 150 or 200 meters away from the other, so we need major economic activities outside the capital's borders in order to ease the inflation that exists in the capital."

He continued, "The meeting also touched on how to deal with the investor and facilitate his task, as well as the importance of removing bureaucracy and combating corruption."

He pointed to "the importance of supporting the private sector, to absorb youth energies and allocate retirement benefits, as in government institutions, which will significantly reduce the momentum on state ministries."

Zig  TWW's Kuwaiti Dinar Experience:... "I was learning trading currencies in the 70's...I was working in Riyadh in 1989 for a developer, & Amed, my boss, was telling me of a 'rumor' that Kuwait was planning to 'adjust' their currency... Remember, Iraq was attaching Kuwait's oil wells...

Well with the help of USA & international assistance, adjustments were about to take place... I never heard the RV by name, just an 'adjustment'... Their currency at that time was .05... While there I bought quite a bit of their currency, quite a bit in Riyadh... I was back in Honolulu around March when my currency broker from the past, called me at home and mentioned that Kuwait's currency adjusted to a higher value, 3.47usd...

I call my bank, Bank of Hawaii, and they confirmed... So I went in with my bills and cashed them in... I had to show my passport with the date when I was in Egypt... it was my former boss in SA that called about their "RI/adjustment" then I went thru his broker...It went from 0.05 to 3.47usd...It was just an exchange, no tax..

There is more to the story but this should give u enough to share at this point... It did happen no matter what the so-called gurus are telling you."

Thousands of protestors have blocked all entrances to the green zone and demanding their rights. They are now saying that Al-Kadhimi needs to do the economic reforms now!

I don't know if it is true, but I am involved with another organization and they are buying as much dinar as they can, AND paying big bucks to buy your dinar. I'm talking in the millions. This other organization has nothing to do with dinar and always said it was a hoax, but now they have someone that will pay millions to buy your dinar.
