The man who runs the US Treasury helped break the Bank of England in 1992 and beat the yen from inside the Soros fund. This week Wall Street started calling his currency moves a 2nd Bretton Woods, out loud.

And in the same news cycle, Iraq came off the punishment list piece by piece.

The man is the story

Scott Bessent’s history is not new news. He led the Soros team that broke the pound on Black Wednesday in 1992. He shorted the yen for the same firm 2 decades later. He taught economic history at Yale. And in late 2024, before he was even sworn in, he said on camera that a Bretton Woods realignment was underway and he wanted to be part of it.

What is new is that the mainstream has caught up. Bloomberg is writing about his hedge fund playbook at the Treasury. A chief market strategist published his note under the title Bretton Woods 2.0. The man told everyone the plan 2 years ago, and this week the market finally started saying it back.

What actually moved

• The yen operation – the US bought yen for the first time in over a decade, selling euros to do it, with a planned size of $5 to $10 billion visible in Bessent’s own handwriting on a Camp David notepad.

• The bond fix – Japan sold $66.7 billion of US Treasuries in May defending its currency alone. The new arrangement routes Japan through the Fed’s own repo window, so the bonds never touch the open market.

• Fly Baghdad delisted – the US Treasury removed Iraq’s carrier and 2 of its Boeing 737s from the sanctions list on August 5, while expanding sanctions on Iran’s Mahan Air the same week.

• Hormuz route mapped – Iran and Oman agreed the coordinates of a proposed shipping lane through the strait the same day, with a joint statement in final drafting.

• September 30 hardened – Iraq’s governing coalition confirmed weapons outside state authority will be prosecuted under the Anti-Terrorism Law after the deadline.

• The CBI builds rails – Iraq’s central bank met the communications regulator to build licensing for Apple, Google and Meta to operate formally inside Iraq’s payment system.

Welcome everybody to the big call it is Thursday August  6th and you’re listening to the big call  thank you big call universe for tuning in again  - thanks everybody for being here and I'm kind of excited about what I want to bring tonight in my Intel segment, which I do have some good intel for us, and I'm looking forward to hearing from Sue, from Bob, and we're just on our way.

Now, what else do I want to tell you? Let's go into where we are on the intel tonight. What we're hearing is sort of what I said on Tuesday. If it didn't happen Wednesday, then we're looking at the eighth and ninth, which is Saturday, Sunday.

One of our contacts, one of our sources, came out and said Saturday, Sunday, and added Monday as a possibility. Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. Now we do know that we have contacts. We have a contact very strong in Reno that was saying that the bondholders were being paid into their accounts, had to fly in and fly out of Reno approximately three flights per hour and 15 minutes in and out of Reno to get their stuff done. These guys have been approved; they're good to go.

I think this was the last step in their process to show up one more time and set up, you know, their accounts to be funded. We understand that the funding of those accounts out of Reno has taken place, but that doesn't mean they have access to the funds yet.  It means they might see the money in their account, but they won't be able to spend it until they're given probably another email to say, "Okay, now you can spend it. Here's your access code, or whatever they need to do to get into it.

Now we have a contact that is down in Miami that is doing the same thing as of today, and that's telling me that let's say three or four days that were spent in Reno may be the same time frame to get the bondholders handled three or four days is happening starting today, but we know that the timeline for this individual is going to be. It looks like a couple of weeks. Tells me he may be there beyond the bonds to also help with the currency exchanges down in that part of Miami at the Redemption Center.

So that isn't telling us exactly what's going on, but it gives us an idea of what what's happening and what what is happening with the timeline.

The other thing is, we  know that the let's see where am I going on this? Gosh, so much of this has to do with the pickup on various aisles in the store. It's still a lot about that, and I don't have an up-to-date report until it's over on how we did in terms of the numbers.

I know some numbers. I'm not going to disclose some of the numbers, but we do believe things are still moving along nicely in that direction. But you know, it's kind of like they don't want the bad guys to get access to any exchange locations, banks, or redemption centers.

Okay, so I believe what we're talking about is trying to remove as much of the bad guys, the deep state, as they can before we get started, and to me, we know that certain things are going to be done by the weekend, and we also know That redemption center staff has been going in. For example, yesterday rates were not on the screens in the morning, but they were flashing rapidly in the afternoon.

Yesterday, today no rates on screens. Tomorrow, we don't know. We'll see. We know that Russia's currency, which is the ruble, has gone digital.

Now that means it should be on the forex, the Russian ruble. That is one of the currencies that's going to be revalued. We know that. That's one of the.

We've got 51 currencies now that are supposed to be on the redemption center screens for exchange, and of course I mentioned the  Zimbabwe dollar, which is actually redeemed as a bearer bond, and that's what we're going to do with the redemption centers.

That's why we call them redemption centers instead of banks. They're separate. Now listen, redemption centers might be connected right to a bank, or it could be a completely separate building or location that's not connected to a bank, but everyone in the United States is overseen by Wells Fargo, and they will have a representative there.

You'll have a Treasury representative there, and you'll have people that will be there to count and verify your currencies with a De La Rue machine, and then banks  have sometimes another brand of machine that they'll be using.

It wouldn't be the French word De La Rue, meaning from the street or of the street, du la rue. So that's interesting, and they're getting new machines and training bank personnel on how to do these exchanges.

Now I'm going to suggest that you go to the redemption center because, first of all, redemption centers are the only ones handling the Zimbabwe currency or bonds, as we call them, and we know that President Trump has already set up a contract rate on dinar at the redemption centers, and that's what you'll be offered, so at the Redemption Center, and the rate, like I said, is is extremely extremely high, and way higher than we ever thought it was going to be ever.

So keep that in mind if you have Iraqi Dinar.

Let me think. What else I wanted to mention to you guys tonight? It's a little bit fractured. There, there is intel coming in a little bit, but it's not a whole lot. A lot of it is quiet out there, and I really wanted want you guys to get the feeling that we are close, that we could be there this weekend.

 I don't know about tomorrow. I'm going to suggest the eighth, which is Saturday, Sunday, Monday has been added as a possibility, and it could be we get notified over the weekend.

Don't even start the exchange until Monday. I could see that happening, but we'll just have to track it. We'll just have to track it and follow it.

I'm wondering if there was anything else that you guys might need an update on, and I can't think of anything specific on it right now, you know. You know the drill when it comes to getting a toll-free number. You know to call, and AI will take your call at the call center to begin with, and theoretically you'll be you'll be taken and relocated directly to the redemption center, and is closest based on your zip code that would be entered, either orally or digitally.

I'm not sure with the AI how that's going to work. One other thing, you know, we're going to get Q phones, which are satellite phones, basically, one per individual or family at the redemption center. We hand it to you now. We know that they could run out of Q phones.

They might have 20 or 30 or 40 or whatever at a redemption center, they could run out. In which case, they have certificates for a free Q phone, which you would redeem at T-Mobile or maybe one other. Maybe it's AT&T. I don't know to get a free Q phone.

Now, I think what they'll do is when they run out of the physical phones, they'll substitute and give people that come in the in the third or fourth or fifth day or whatever it is for that redemption center.

They'll give them a certificate to get one. Are we going to get a certificate for, say, $1,000 to go to Best Buy for a new laptop?

Don't know. That was talked about. Have not heard an update on that. I don't think we need it. I think we're going to be able to go to Best Buy or any place we want to to get a new laptop, if we want.

I will say this: I plan to support Dell. I've got two Dell laptops now that are kind of antiquated, and I haven't been able to feed operate them in about 13/14, years.

Excuse me, But post Medved, I will be able to operate a laptop, and I'll do some of it. I'm not going to be sitting in front of a of a computer screen for the rest of my life. Forget it. Not going to do it. I'll be on the phone, but I'm not going to be looking at a computer screen.

Hopefully, I'll have a couple assistants that can keep up with emails and that kind of stuff. So, there's one other thing I wanted you guys to know about, and that was: Are there med beds, for example, in New Zealand, Australia, all of these other countries, the answer is yes.

And I got a number today, and we know that they have them now. This is internationally meaning apart from the United States and Canada, apart from the U.S. and Canada, Medbed centers with two Medbeds in each 170, 7000 globally around the world, not including the U.S. and Canada.

Now that may be a lot in some areas, and not as many in other highly populated countries. And maybe they'll add more. I would think they would, but that's the number I got today: 77,000 Medbed centers, apart from the United States and Canada, around the world.

So yes, they're in New Zealand. Of course, they're in Australia, and I'm sure that there's some countries that don't have that many. But certainly, that's part of getting them out there.

And yes, they are free to use, free for us, free to use. So beware of that. I think that's everything I had in the way of intel to give. I hope I don't think of anything else later.

So you'll have it, and hopefully, hopefully we get the 800 numbers that we're looking for this weekend.

Ross: The Solution that will Boomerang the IQD Revaluation

Iraq does not revalue the Dinar to escape crises of this severity BUT sink-or-swim is the only thing that historically forces Baghdad to move on structural files that have been stalled for years.

The solution that will provide a boomerang towards the revaluation of IQD.

1. Real expenditure rationalization and non-oil revenue expansion.

2. Acceleration of the long-delayed Oil & Gas Law / Hydrocarbon Law framework. This is the single biggest structural unlock for sustained higher oil revenue and FDI.

3. Banking-sector cleanup, better customs collection (ASYCUDA push), and tighter control over regional revenue transfers. Better customs collection and forcing the Region to transfer what it owes directly improves the federal cash position without new borrowing.

4. Possible formal borrowing authority that comes with conditions or oversight. The version that helps the longer-term case is borrowing that is explicitly tied to reform milestones, spending limits, transparency requirements, and parliamentary or external oversight.

5. Serious corruption cleanup and recovery of public/stolen funds. Recovering looted or mismanaged public money is pure liquidity that does not create new debt. It strengthens reserves, reduces the need for printing or emergency borrowing, and signals that the system is finally being cleaned.

6. Continued push on digital payments / reduced cash economy (cuts leakage and improves tax collection).

7. Clear, enforced resolution of the Kurdistan oil and revenue-sharing mechanism so the federal budget is no longer constantly bleeding.

8. Full completion of the cabinet under al-Zaidi and a functioning government that can actually pass and implement the above (vote coming 8/15-20).

None of these items equals an automatic higher dinar rate.

Collectively they shrink the fiscal hemorrhage, raise the quality of revenue, reduce leakage, and make the revalued currency defensible.

All of this is achievable and Baghdad has no choice but to act swiftly.

Lightning-speed fire under Iraq’s a*s progress is and will continue to unfold.

How long can Iraq hold its breath under water?

Stephen  The last 6 months we have seen change happen like never before.  As someone who has been involved in this investment since 2011, Iraq has let deadlines come and go.  They have meant nothing to Iraq.  But...since the Trump administration has gotten involved with them, we have a new prime minister who is getting rid of corruption, he's signing big deals, it's putting pressure on the HCL law...we have Starlink which is going to allow citizens to do online banking, we have all of these banking reforms being implemented right now.  This stuff is happening right before our very eyes...We are in very exciting times.

Jeff   There's a massive currency shortage.  They're claiming it's due to lack of oil revenues from the war... Iraq talks to you out of both sides of their mouth...You need to think about this from both sides...What are things that might happen when the rate's about to change?  ...January through June, they kept telling us, 'Hey, we're eventually going to have to adjust the salary pay scales.' What causes that?  ...A rate change force them to have to adjust salary pay scales...Is it possible they're not paying salaries because they need to adjust the pay scale? ...New currency denominations impact the budget and the salary pay scales...All possibly suggest the rate is about to change.  Those are things Iraq can't tell you.  Iraq had no problem paying salaries during the first half of the year but when you hit the second half of the year it's magically a big problem, which is potentially a new budget period.

A thousand ships are waiting inside the Gulf for one signature. So is Baghdad.

Iraq just let a month of public salaries go unpaid rather than touch its reserve vault. That choice tells you more than any rumour this week.

The queue

The US Treasury Secretary says the deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be signed within hours, and put his own number on what is waiting behind it: hundreds if not a thousand ships sitting inside the Gulf. Oil slid toward $75 on the odds alone. The fight left in the room is over what the strait is on the other side of the signature – a service Tehran sells, or a passage Washington grants. Trump answered that one in capital letters on his own account.

The paydays that did not come

While the negotiators talked, Baghdad confirmed the quiet part with numbers. July salaries have not been paid to a large share of Iraq’s public workers. The finance ministry counted roughly 3 trillion dinars disbursed, a 3.3 trillion gap to finish the month, and a proposal on the table to pay salaries every 45 days. All of it while the reserve vault stays shut. A state does not run its money that way by accident.

The week on one page

• Hormuz deal – Washington aiming for an announcement this week; an earlier memorandum bought 60 days of free passage and the fight is over day 61

• Iraq’s budget – parliament’s finance committee says the government intends to skip the 2026 budget for a rebuilt 2027 draft. Nothing is approved, nothing tabled, and a mini-budget push is already on the record

• Friday, August 7 – Iraq’s militias set their own deadline for Baghdad to answer them, and the US Senate faces its last filing window for the CLARITY Act vote before recess

• Money going manual – Japan sold roughly $53 billion in a day to defend the yen, the US Treasury stepped into the market behind it, and the Bank of Korea is buying domestic gold for the first time in 13 years

The last time the world watched a queue of ships decide a currency’s fate was Suez, November 1956. A reserve currency went into that queue and never came out the same. Militia Man Holders of illicit or laundered funds have strong reasons to stay outside the formal system.   They do not want the scrutiny that comes with depositing large cash amounts...'Where did you get this?' ...They've been warning and warning and warning and telling us they're going to potentially be doing the deletion of the zeros.  Think about all those folks that have billions of dinar. They're afraid to get it into the system because they got it by illicit means.  Just wait until they adjust the Real Effective Exchange Rate and see what happens because they only give them a month...It forces the legitimate mass back into the system and leaves the rest exposed or stranded.  I would not want to be holding the bag with a billion dinars in  Iraq.

Walkingstick  [Iraqi bank friend Aki update] Aki says there is a serious shortage in our markets for our currency.  They are fearful to use the 3-zero notes but they are no longer an issue.  A good amount were collected and brought to the banks when the monetary reform education started.  The 3-zero notes are gone and that's what's causing a lot of problem with the citizens in the market...Right now there is a huge demand for 2-zero notes...The LDs will be coming out very shortly and until that time the 1-zero notes will become also in great demand.

Welcome everybody to the Big call tonight. It is Tuesday, August 4, and you're listening to the big call. Thanks everybody for tuning in tonight. We're going to have a really fun call tonight. I've got some pretty good stuff to give you guys, and I know Sue will and Bob will, and we're going to have a super call. I'm looking forward to that.

All right. Thank you, Bob. Appreciate that very much. Let's get into where we find ourselves on Intel. I told you guys things are starting to tighten up. That's still true. I can give you a few things that are just little pieces here, and we'll try to build our puzzle with it.

So far, as of today, and even up until 6o'clock tonight, there are still no rates on the screens at Redemption Centers. We're hoping all that changes tomorrow, and I'll tell you more about that in a second.

We did see that there is some trading back and forth on the ZIM, and you know I've told you guys for years now what the term "on par" means, and we're not talking about golf. On par means trading at the same rate as -- when we say the ZIM is on par with the dollar, it means the ZIM is worth $1 per ZIM.

Because remember. Zim uses the term dollar, Zimbabwe dollar. Okay, so if you have a Zimbabwe currency note, is really a bearer bond of a $50 billion note. That's what it's going to be worth: 50 billion, 10 trillion, 50 trillion, 100 trillion.

You know the story. Now, what about this? What if I were telling you that they're trading the ZIM, and it's actually going up in value, and it could be worth more than $1 against our U.S. N dollar. What if it was worth $1.02, or $1.05, or even $1.10, or possibly a little bit more.

This is what we're hearing: is that it's very possible that this Zimbabwe dollar could be higher than the $1. Now I've heard that in the past; it's been true in the past. I've never brought that out on the call, but I believe it's important for you not to be in too much shock, if that is the case.

Personally, I think one to one being worth 1US. dollar, a new U.S. dollar, U.S.N. is terrific. That is absolutely amazing. But don't be surprised. I'm just saying, don't be surprised if it's a little bit higher. Okay, so we'll see how that shakes out.

I found that to be very interesting yesterday when I heard that. Okay, obviously we  don't do rates per se on the big call, and we have no rates on screens yet today. But we know that forex rates usually show up on a Wednesday or a Sunday night, and we're being told that we will get new rates, possibly tomorrow.

Now that would translate to new rates on bank screens and redemption center screens, as well. So I look forward to getting a report, and it may be that I'll get that report tonight, which typically happens 10, 11 o'clock at night, I might get something after the big call ends,

But I do have three different sources that are saying almost the same thing. Two of the sources are saying if this does not go tomorrow, meaning Wednesday, the fifth, if the this does not go tomorrow, then we're looking at the eighth or ninth, which is Saturday the eighth or Sunday the ninth this weekend.

 If we don't get this tomorrow, the other source is saying it should go tomorrow, but if not, we're looking at the eighth or ninth, which is Saturday or Sunday.

It should go tomorrow, but if not, we're looking at the weekend, so we've got two that are saying if it doesn't go tomorrow, it'll happen on the weekend, and one is saying it should go tomorrow.

But if not, we're looking at the weekend. Now that's a roundabout way of saying that's what three of our sources, all three separate are saying about where we are right now. All right.

We also know that there have been a number of pickups and drop-offs, and you know when I talk about pickup on aisle three, aisle five, aisle 10, whatever, whatever it is, that's what's happening. It is ongoing.

We know that that it seems to be never ending, and I can understand why. There's still a lot of shenanigans going on out there, and there's some people that need to be removed and arrested, and that's what's happening.

So I don't have an up-to-date on numbers. I do know the numbers, but I'm not supposed to bring them out. So that's a big deal. Some of the numbers are global. Some are within the United States. And anytime you turn around, it seems like you know what this thing is, you guys.

This is a military operation, and it is subject to change. It's kind of a hurry up and wait kind of scenario, which is kind of a military term. Andyou know we've had a green light before to go, and we didn't go.

We had a green light from President Trump and our military to go. And now we're in a situation where we're looking for another green light, another go signal that'll come from military, be passed down to the Treasury.

Treasury will pass it down to Wells Fargo, and they'll pass it down to us in the form of a of 800 numbers in a notification. And by the way, those 800 numbers are supposed to come as an email notification and a text message as well.

It could come to you in both forms, and I've told you guys that we're going to do a an email from BigCallUniverse.com. That'll be from us to you.

We'll also post it on our website, which you know is bigcalluniverse.com, and we'll also have the 800 number to put out on a call.

Now, I was told by a top person with Wells Fargo East Coast that if I do get the number and can put it out on a call, which I'd hoped would be today, it's not today.

We might get started tomorrow, in which case we would have a call on Thursday. It'd be more of a celebration call, but we're still going to have it Thursday, and if I get the number between now and Thursday, I will put it out on the call.

And this individual, who's a a high high up executive, top of the heat with Wells Fargo, said it would be much appreciated if Bruce put the number out on his call, so I'm looking forward to that.

That's  an honor. I've always looked at it as that would be an honor to be able to do that. So I'm looking forward to getting that.

Now, am I going to get the number before anyone else early? I had thought maybe I would, but not yet. I don't have it yet, and I'm looking for it just like you guys are. So hopefully something cranks out tomorrow, and we're able to get this party started.

 Either way, though, we'll have a call Thursday night, and then we'll look forward to seeing what would happen on the eighth? Uh-oh, there's China's number. The eighth, eight is the number of new beginnings biblically, or the ninth, which is Sunday. So that's what we're told right now.

It's either if it goes tomorrow, great. If not, we're looking at the weekend. All right, I hope so. I'm looking forward to that. I'm only telling you guys what I'm hearing, and there's not a whole lot out there. We got a little bit here from a Redemption Center leader.

We got a little bit there from somebody who knows that the Zim was trading. We get a little piece here about you know the timing of when we think we're going to be notified, you know, and we try to piece it all together and make sense out of it, and that's where I am on this.

As far as the Middle East is concerned, I'm  really more concerned about what's happening in our own country right now in terms of Washington State and the so-called fires that took place, and I  guess I better not go too deep on it, but it looks like to me that we just have to get the people that settle. And my understanding is we're working on that.

So hopefully that's good news.

 Now, that's what I would have to say tonight. Guys, I'm hoping tomorrow is the day.

And of course, after I hang up with you guys tonight, what am I going to get? Probably more and additional intel tonight. Maybe it typically happens. There's a possible call. We're expecting probably around 11.

So maybe I'll get something tonight. In the meantime, I want everybody to just press in, continue to believe for this amazing, miraculous time that we're in, and I want you to live one day at a time each day. You know, Jesus says, you know, in the prayer, give us this day our daily bread.
