Posted On 2022-05-18 By Sotaliraq   independents" raise the ceiling of their ambitions and insist on the formation of the "largest bloc"

baghdad / firas adnan   independent mps are crowding the traditional forces by insisting on forming the most numerous bloc charged with presenting the prime minister, and assert that their initiative to end the political blockage began to bear fruit after the approval of the coordinating framework, pointing out that they are waiting for the positions of the sadrist movement.

independent mps announced an initiative to end the political deadlock, confirming that more than 45 deputies had signed the terms.

"independents have received signals over the past two days that their initiative could take its way to implementation," said independent mp hussein al-sabari.

"the position of the coordination framework yesterday was clear that it supports our initiative and welcomes the right to choose the prime minister," al-sabiri said.

"the bloc we have worked on awaits the positions of other blocs, and in particular we mean the sadrist movement as the other shiite party," he said.

"our initiative represents a road map for political blockage, which is seven items officially announced at the press conference," al-sabiri said.

"the most prominent of these items is that the solution should be iraqi from within the homeland and we reject external dictates," he said.

"the initiative has set specifications for the next prime minister, to be honest and experienced, not controversial, and not to have a corruption file against him," al-sabiri said.

"the conditions imposed by the iraqi constitution as president of the republic have been put in place in the initiative," he said, stressing that "the essence of the initiative is that independent deputies are the nucleus of the most numerous bloc and others are invited to join it."

"independents stress the need for the more numerous bloc to be strong and supportive of the prime minister, who is supposed to have a good ministerial program and give empowerment in the selection of ministers," al-sabiri said.

another independent mp, yasser husseini, said that "some independent deputies have added a clause within the initiative that includes remaining in the opposition, even though they will support the formation of the government."

"the acceptance of the political forces by what we have put forward depends on our possibilities in dialogue, and we have formed delegations that will meet the parties, and we do not stand with one side without the other," husseini said.

"independent deputies are unanimous in the initiative and there are no withdrawals or defections in our ranks," he said.

"independents are able to form the most numerous bloc if they get support from other forces, and we expect them to respond appropriately," husseini said.

"it's not difficult for independents to nominate a candidate for prime minister, as long as we've put in place the mechanisms that will enable us to choose him," he said.

"the survival of the political blockage in this situation is not in the public interest, and we should have appropriate solutions that will get us out of this impasse," husseini said.

the two sides of the political dispute, the save the homeland alliance, which includes the sadrist movement, the kurdistan democratic party and the sovereignty bloc on the one hand, and the coordination framework, together with the patriotic union of kurdistan (puk) and the azm alliance, are trying to attract independents away from each other to ensure that their political project is achieved in the next government.

Al-Sadr’s deadline, which was granted to all parties, will expire, and with it the political forces will not see any steps forward, and matters will remain stuck in a spiral of congestion unless there is a final agreement between the parties to the conflict, specifically the framework forces and the current, because of what some MPs have spoken.
