Al-Maliki's Coalition Intensifies Its Movement To Announce The Largest Bloc And Form The Government

Shafaq News/ The State of Law coalition, one of the most important forces of the comprehensive coordinating framework for Shiite forces, confirmed on Thursday that they are in the process of accelerating the procedures for forming the largest bloc after naming the replacements of the Sadrist bloc's representatives who resigned from Parliament.

The representative of the coalition, inside Al-Hamidi, told Shafaq News Agency, "The parliament session that was held today in the presence of more than 200 deputies witnessed the constitutional oath of 64 new deputies (the biggest loser from the reserve lists) and the absence of about nine others for unknown reasons."

He pointed out that "the coordinating framework will accelerate its movement to hold intensive meetings with all parliamentarians, especially the replacements, most of whom come from the same (Shiite) component to form and announce the largest bloc, in addition to resolving understandings with the rest of the political parties to agree on forming the new government."

Al-Hamidi added, "After that, the enactment of laws that affect the citizen will begin, the most important of which is approving the general budget for the current year, in addition to preventing violations and violations here and there, as well as promoting the service reality and other files of common interest."

To this, a parliamentary source confirmed, to Shafaq News Agency, that "the session to choose an alternative for the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives has not yet been determined, as the alternative has not yet been agreed upon, in addition to the fact that it is necessary to refer to the Sadrist movement if it is agreed to name an alternative, to obtain To bless the Sadrist movement and accept it as an important position in the legislative institution.”

Today, Thursday, the Iraqi Council of Representatives held an extraordinary session to swear the constitutional oath of the new replacements for the resigned Sadrist bloc MPs.

Earlier today, Ahmed Al-Asadi, deputy for the coordination framework, announced the approval of the political blocs to proceed with the formation of the new federal government, according to the principle of "partnership, balance, and consensus", which are the conditions announced by Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani.

Al-Asadi said in a statement to the blocs, read out in the House of Representatives today, that the political blocs agreed to proceed with the formation of a national government in accordance with the principle of balance, consensus and partnership that achieves the aspirations of the people, respects constitutional principles, and works to resolve differences between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, legislate the oil and gas law, return the liberated and poorest areas, and provide Job opportunities for youth and imposing the prestige of the state on everyone.

In his statement, Al-Asadi stressed the importance of the current stage and pledged that solutions would be at the level of the challenges, expressing the responsibility of the forces participating in forming the government to confront the challenges entrusted to them, in addition to reminding them of their respect for the decision of the Sadrist blocs. 

On Wednesday, Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani announced that the Kurdistan Region requires its participation in the next federal government to abide by the three principles of "partnership, balance, and consensus" by the Iraqi political parties.   LINK

Former MP: Forming The Next Government May Not Take More Than 3 Months

Al-Rubaie said in an interview with Al-Information that “the Iraqi scene is going through a very sensitive stage, and the political blockage has been its most prominent advantages for months,” stressing that “after today’s session, the forces will be facing another stage, and it represents an important opportunity to move forward, especially as the country is going through suffocating crises.”

He added, "The formation of the next government may not take 3 months if it adopts 3 tracks, which are consensuality, mutual concessions, and setting an agreed roadmap for running the country," noting "the importance of forming a government to solve crises, not a quota government that repeats previous mistakes."

Al-Halbousi's House Meeting Comes Out With An Agreement To Support The Political Process And The Rights Of The Liberated Governorates

Shafaq News/ The meeting of the "Sovereignty" coalition, which includes the "Azm" coalition led by Khamis al-Khanjar and "Progress" led by Muhammad al-Halbousi, came out after its meeting, Wednesday evening, at the latter's house, with an agreement to support the political process and the rights of the liberated governorates.

A statement issued by the coalition after the meeting and received by Shafaq News Agency stated that the meeting of the Sovereignty Alliance headed by Al-Khanjar and Al-Halbousi and the leaders of the coalition at the headquarters of the Sovereignty Alliance in Baghdad was held to discuss the latest developments in the political arena and the need to come up with a unified position towards the political process, indicating that it  was agreed to support the process. Political and affirming the demand for the rights of the liberated governorates and their masses in any upcoming movement.

Earlier, the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc and the "Sovereignty" coalition announced their participation in tomorrow's session, Thursday.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, "The Sovereignty Alliance is currently holding a meeting at the house of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi to resolve the coalition's deputies' participation in the emergency parliament session scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday."

Parliament Invites The "Biggest Losers" To Attend Thursday's Session, And Six Of Them Abstain

Shafaq News/ A parliamentary source said, on Wednesday, that the Presidency of the House of Representatives invited the candidates, "the biggest losers", who have resigned from the Sadrist bloc's deputies, to attend the session tomorrow, Thursday, while six of these substitutes refrained from attending because they are from the Sadrist bloc's candidates.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, "According to the directives of the Presidency of the House of Representatives, the parliamentary constituency informed today 73 candidates of the highest (reserve) votes to attend a session tomorrow, Thursday, to take the constitutional oath instead of the resigned Sadrist bloc deputies."

And he indicated that "the parliamentary department informed the reserve candidates to come to the parliament building at 11 am to hold the session and to take the constitutional oath."

He pointed out that "six of the alternative candidates abstained from attending the session and submitted requests to the Independent High Electoral Commission to exempt them from membership in the House of Representatives, in compliance with the request of the Sadrist movement's leader Muqtada al-Sadr for the resignation of his bloc's deputies, as he is one of the Sadrist bloc's candidates."

The Sadrist bloc's deputies had previously submitted their resignations from the Iraqi parliament at the request of their leader Muqtada al-Sadr, who announced earlier his withdrawal from the political process.  LINK

After The Parliament Session, Al-Halbousi Thanks Al-Sadr

Shafaq News/ On Thursday, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, expressed his thanks to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, after the end of the parliament session, which witnessed the constitutional oath of the Sadrist bloc's independent deputies.

Al-Halbousi said in a tweet to him on the social networking sites "Twitter", "We have started the road for the sake of the people, and we will go through each of his national positions inside and outside the parliament to achieve real reform that Iraqis aspire to."

He added, "Thank you to the size of Iraq to His Eminence Muqtada Al-Sadr, the sacrifice without a price, and the present always without absence."

Baghdad/   Today, Thursday, the head of the Sovereignty Alliance, Khamis al-Khanjar, thanked the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, for his historical stance and his health for the sake of the country.

Al-Khanjar wrote on Twitter, saying that "all events have proven that the Sovereignty Alliance is a solid national title that has sought and seeks a just and strong system of governance."

In the presence of 202 deputies, the House of Representatives knocked on its extraordinary session, in the presence of the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, today, Thursday, who opened the work of the “extraordinary session” after completing the quorum to hold it.

Al-Tagheer TV correspondent said that the session witnessed the swearing in of the constitutional oath to the alternative representatives of the independents in the Sadrist Movement bloc, which is the first paragraph of the session's agenda. The session will also witness the completion of amendments, and the adoption of the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives, which is the second paragraph of the agenda.

The Presidency of the House of Representatives announced, on Tuesday, that the Council will hold an extraordinary session, based on the provisions of Article 58 first of the Constitution, and at the request of a number of Council members, on Thursday, June 23, at 11 am.

The “Ataa” movement also published the list of replacement representatives, while it indicated that the number of independent MPs’ districts was distributed among 44 districts, noting that “the number of replacements is not necessarily equal to the number of female resignations.”

The movement clarified in a statement that Al-Tajir channel received a copy of it, (June 20, 2022), that "the replacement mechanism was based on the Commission's instructions regarding calculating the women's quota, that is, on the scale of the department, and the woman is replaced by another woman only in the event that the replaced woman won the women's quota."

Politician  Last Update 06/23/2022 | 10:42 AM  Information/Exclusive…State of Law Representative Jassem al-Moussawi confirmed, on Thursday, that the Presidency of the House of Representatives did not formally specify the axes of the emergency session allegedly to be held today, among the most prominent files that will be presented during the session.

Al-Moussawi said in an interview with "Information", "The main axis for which the emergency session was held is the swearing in of the constitutional oath to the new MPs who resigned from the Sadrist bloc and proceeding with the formation of the government."

He added, "The main axes that Parliament will deal with are represented in several issues, including the fuel and electricity crisis, and the decline in services, and the file of security breaches that occurred recently in the country will also be opened."
