Is a New Financial Order Taking Shape? | Susan Kokinda & Michelle Makori
Miles Franklin Media: 11-1-2026
Michelle Makori, President & Editor-in-Chief of Miles Franklin Media, speaks with Susan Kokinda, Coalitions Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party and co-founder of Promethean Action, about why she believes President Donald Trump is challenging the foundations of the global financial system and potentially laying the groundwork for a major monetary and economic restructuring.
Kokinda explains why she believes Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and monetary policy advocate Judy Shelton could play pivotal roles in reshaping the international financial order, including the possibility of a new Bretton Woods-style system and a greater role for gold in backing U.S. debt.
She warns of vulnerabilities in the global financial system, including the massive derivatives market, currency instability, and America's growing debt burden, while examining whether Trump's strategy of economic growth, tariffs, and reindustrialization could offer an alternative to traditional fiscal austerity.
Kokinda also discusses the political and geopolitical forces she believes are driving this transformation, from the approaching 2026 U.S. midterm elections and the possibility of another Trump impeachment battle to shifting relationships between the United States, Russia, and China. She examines how these developments could challenge existing international institutions, reshape the U.S. dollar's role as the world's reserve currency, and influence the future of American economic sovereignty.
