NORV  (Kaperoni)  Sam can think what he wants, but there is no intent to redenominate the dinar. It is just his opinion and not based on any factual data from Iraq. First it would take parliament approval, and second their would be no reason to encourage exchange and settlement among middle east countries (Buna) and eventually the world if they were planning to redenominate (LOP) the dinar.

Not to mention, Iraq has had less than 3% inflation for the past 20 years. The plan for Iraq is like other middle east countries which is to diversify, create stability, employment and a private sector, foreign investment to improve the economy and create economic growth. They and only then the dinar can appreciate as a result.

There has never been one indication that the IMF would support such an event, in fact they speak of allowing the currency to rise. Even the recent devaluation was not random, but an attempt to preserve the central banks reserves as well as meet compliance with the IMF. It is well documented and people just just need to read. Those that choose not to then speculate in and misinform others.

Sam I Am  NORV I've said more than once that I doubt they will redenominate. They'll probably just maintain the current regime. However, while there might not be any intent to redenominate, the program to remove three zeros is describing a redenomination.

Dave  Iraq and Kuwait are discussing the file of remaining debt payments and the possibility of postponing their payment

Dave   The meeting discussed, according to the statement, enhancing the prospects for cooperation between Iraq and Kuwait in accordance with mutual interests in all fields, the importance of activating the joint Iraqi-Kuwaiti ministerial committee and strengthening its work, as well as forming a joint parliamentary committee to activate cooperation and follow-up and accelerate government procedures in the field of investment, trade and free zones.

The Speaker of Parliament also discussed with the Kuwaiti Prime Minister the file of the remaining payments of debts owed by the Iraqi government to Kuwait, and the possibility of postponing their payment. Because of the financial crisis and the economic situation that Iraq is going through.

The meeting stressed, according to the statement, the need to open the borders between the two countries to trade movement after it stopped due to the pandemic, while tightening commitment to preventive measures, appreciating Kuwait’s stances in support of Iraq during crises, the latest of which is the Corona pandemic crisis, which was represented by sending liquid oxygen trucks to the health institution.

For his part, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister offered his condolences to Iraq for the victims of the last two bombings in Baghdad, stressing his country’s support for the government and people of Iraq, and the continued expansion of the horizons of cooperation between the two brotherly countries at all levels.

"The government of Iraq, the World Bank Group and the European Union signed today a grant agreement aimed at strengthening Iraqi government institutions and mechanisms for financial accountability and oversight at the federal and subnational levels," the World Bank said in a statement received (Baghdad today).

The statement continued, "The project, titled (Strengthening Supervision and Accountability Institutions in Public Financial Management (PFM)), is a joint implementation of $ 12.5 million and is part of the technical assistance grant program that was signed in September 2018 with the European Union to strengthen public financial management (PFM) oversight and increase the efficiency of public service delivery. "

The program aims, according to the bank, to "improve public financial management systems by strengthening payroll management through an information technology platform."

It will support transparency and accountability in the "oil sector through the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. [Baghdad-Where]   On Sunday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced the issuance of 7000 (MasterCard card) for beneficiaries of the full-time employee's salary during the past 30 days.

The head of the Disability Authority at the Ministry of Labor, Essam Al-Tamimi, said in a statement, "The authority, in cooperation with the concerned banking authorities, issued 7,000 (MasterCard) cards for beneficiaries of the full-time employee salary in Baghdad and the provinces except for the Kurdistan region for the period from 12/20/2020 until 20 / 1/2021 '.

He added, "The authority's departments in Baghdad and the provinces continue to issue cards to those covered by the full-time employee salary.

Al-Tamimi praised "the efforts of the employees in the departments to implement the directives of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Adel Al-Rikabi, which include the speedy completion of the transactions covered by the privileges of Law No. 38 of 2013 with high accuracy and professionalism to relieve them of their shoulders."

[Baghdad-Where]  The Parliamentary Finance Committee held its 30th meeting on Sunday to discuss the draft federal budget bill for 2021.

The Media Department of Parliament said in a statement, "The Finance Committee hosted the Head of the Anti-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Abdel-Wahab Al-Saadi, to discuss the allocations of the financial apparatus within the current budget law."

She added, "The sub-committee formed by the Finance Committee will later host the Director of the Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), and a delegation from the Central Bank within the discussions of the 2021 budget."

It is noteworthy that a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Sherwan Mirza, had announced, this morning, Sunday, that next week will witness the vote on the draft budget bill after completing all observations and making amendments

The Commission had been on track to pay the outstanding compensation award in 2021. In light of the effects of the pandemic, the Council noted that the timeline for the completion of the Compensation Commission's mandate is now expected to extend into 2022.

Funds to pay compensation are drawn from the United Nations Compensation Fund, which currently receives 3 per cent of the proceeds generated by the export sales of Iraqi petroleum and petroleum products.

He stressed that the policies of the former US president caused a lot of damage to Iraq, at the top of which is the obstruction of the implementation of the Iraqi- Chinese agreement.

"Ending the American presence in Iraq will not be easy and requires an integrated decision," he said.

"We should not be content with just passing a resolution in the Iraqi parliament to expel American troops from Iraq," he said.

The EU listed Iraq as a high-risk country for money laundering and terrorist financing, along with North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen, in May last year.

Over the past years, the money laundering trade in Iraq had been fueled by several sources, including oil and drug smuggling, as well as arms trade.

While the pandemic has prompted some energy majors and watchdogs to predict that a peak in the world’s demand for oil has been brought nearer or may have already come and gone in 2019, Gould said the IEA disagreed.

“As things stand, with the pace of change we see on the structural side is not enough in our view to deliver a peak anytime soon.”

“Growth in the economy, recovery in the economy will sooner or later bring oil demand back to 2019 levels. The 2020s in our view are the last decade in which you are likely to see increasing oil demand,” he added.

The budget included granting the region a share estimated at 11 trillion dinars, while a number of Iraqi political forces refuse to pass the current budget because of the share of the Kurdistan region.

MP Thamer Theban said, "The budget contains great financial waste and facilities for Kurdistan, and we will not accept its passage," noting that "the situation has become economically unstable because of the wrong policies of the government, which are devoid of an economic vision."

Theban added in a press statement, "The Economic Committee in Parliament will work to amend a number of budget paragraphs during the discussion sessions," pointing out the need to "follow transparent and fair methods" in approving them.

In less than a week, state-owned Rafidain Bank raised the interest rate on deposited money from 4% to 5% so as to encourage people to deposit funds in Iraqi branches.

Rasheed Bank, however, is paying a 7% interest rate on fixed deposits for 2.5 years. Rasheed Bank's offer involves individuals, businesses, associations and other sectors.

Tebow   22% revaluation on their currency is not a guadual float by any means. That's one of the dumbest things I've read here. Deleting the 3 zeros is from the rate. The goal is to increase the value of the dinar. Removing the 3 zeros fron the physical currency does nothing for Iraq. They devalued 22% in an attempt to remove as many 3 zero notes as the can. I have heard somewhere that Iraq has already removed 70+ percent of the 3 zero notes from circulation. Just my opinion.

Shafaq News / The Central Bank of Iraq sales of hard currency declined today, Thursday, for the fifth consecutive day this week, while it recorded a decline of more than 18%.

The Shafaq News Agency correspondent stated that the Central Bank of Iraq witnessed during its auction for the sale and purchase of foreign currencies today, a decrease in its sales by 18% to reach 11 million and 427 thousand and 660 dollars, which the bank covered at a basic exchange rate of 1460 dinars per dollar, compared to yesterday, Wednesday, when it reached Sales of 14 million and 54 thousand.

He added that the request was distributed by 11 million and 327 thousand and 660 dollars to strengthen the funds abroad in the form of transfers and appropriations, while the rest of the $100 thousand was distributed in the form of cash sale that was fully covered by the bank at an exchange rate of 1460 dinars per one dollar.

Our correspondent indicated that seven banks have fulfilled requests to enhance assets abroad, while one bank has met the cash requests.    LINK

indicating that the UN Security Council resolutions Issued since August 1990, it was enacted due to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, to place the Iraqi factory under the threat of an international technological and commercial blockade. Many of the extractive industry sites, in particular, were subjected to military operations in the 1991 Gulf War and afterwards, which made them lose the capabilities of work, development, investment and continuous production.

Saleh added in an interview with the "obelisk" that the extractive industry, especially the non-oil industry that deals with the production of raw materials and their export to global markets, was the first target in the project of war and international sieges and extensions subject to the application of Chapter Seven of the United Nations Charter, and it still sees from time to time.

A decision by one of the specialized United Nations committees that undertakes the partial or gradual lifting of the Iraqi factory, with lists sometimes issued, and removing it from the blacklist, especially for factories, some of which, for example, have ceased to exist in technology or have become non-existent.

Saleh explained that Iraq, which is the ninth country in the world in terms of natural resources buried underground, and those resources are estimated at 15-16 trillion dollars, whether in oil, phosphates, sulfur, silicon and other important ores,

Today, Monday, al-Rasheed Street, in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, witnessed a demonstration near the Central Bank to denounce the decision to reduce the value of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar, in a way that caused the market to break out with a sudden increase in the prices of various commodities by rates reaching 25%.

And last week, Iraq began to work with the decision to reduce the national currency, to its lowest level since 2004, to bring its price to 1450 dinars per dollar through the tributaries of the Central Bank, compared to 1184 dinars previously, a decline of 23%, which caused great confusion for the markets with Suddenly rising prices.

The demonstrators gathered in front of the Central Bank building, demanding the dismissal of the bank’s governor, Mustafa Ghaleb, and the return of the exchange rate to what it was in the past.

During the last months of this year, intense deliberations took place with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Legislative Authority, regarding the general economic situation and the financial crisis that the public finances are going through due to low oil prices and production, and the economic and health challenges. The Board of Directors of the Central Bank held a number of meetings, some of which hosted the Minister of Finance for the same purpose. The Central Bank of Iraq would like to show the following:

1- The structural distortions in the Iraqi economy impoverished public finances and restricted the ability of reform sought by the government and the Ministry of Finance. It is not a coincidence that the financial situation is this bad, nor is it the product of the current or the previous year, but unfortunately it took root more than a decade and a half ago due to the policy leadership of the economy and the preference for political thinking and the priorities of politicians over economic thought and development priorities and the rules of the relationship between economic policy on the one hand and fiscal and monetary policies On the other hand ... the fiscal policy lagged behind, and the monetary policy was busy repairing the outputs of the confused fiscal policy.

2- The subordination of the economic and financial policy to the aspirations and concerns of politicians resulted in the last acceptable models of financial management in Iraq, and the role of that administration was limited to the distribution of oil resources to life-sustaining requirements such as salaries and operational requirements, and the Ministry of Finance did not address its roles and leadership position in economic affairs. In addition to the fact that it lacked many economic and financial information that

This calls for an active approach to build economic and financial databases that facilitate decision-making and serve forecasts. 3- Because of all these conditions, the Central Bank had no choice but to intervene on more than one occasion to support public finances and save critical public spending requirements .. However, this does not mean that these interventions remain open without restrictions or endings.

4- On the other hand ... the Central Bank understands the difficulties facing the reform intentions that the government is heading to undertake, but this does not prevent any steps that the monetary authority can take with effective steps to implement reforms that inevitably affect the institutions of the financial authority, especially the effective collection institutions. Customs, taxes, and other public collection institutions, and that spending be leaned and rationalized, all of which depends on the political will of the supreme state institutions that support the direction of the financial authority to achieve this. The government needs to support the vulnerable groups that will inevitably be directly affected, especially by any measure to change the exchange rate.

5- The legislative authority will have an important role in supporting the direction of the Central Bank to adjust the foreign currency exchange rate, as failure to take such a decision may make us forced to take difficult decisions that may put Iraq in a situation similar to what happened to neighboring countries. It should also be emphasized here that this change (reduction) in the value of the Iraqi dinar will be one-time only and will not be repeated, and the Central Bank will defend this price and its stability with the support of its foreign reserves, which are still at solid levels that enable it   which are still at solid levels that enable it to do so.

Committee member Falah Al-Khafaji said, "We, as members of Parliament, have a tendency to return the exchange rate of the dinar against the Iraqi dollar to 120 or a little more."

On December 21, 2020   The Independent / - Legal expert, Ali Al-*Tamimi, warned of the return of Iraq to the international trusteeship, “Chapter Seven” of the United Nations Charter.*

Al-Tamimi said that Iraq is still under Chapter VI of the United Nations Charter, and that there are financial assets with Kuwait worth 4.5 billion dollars.

 He added that according to Article 50 of the United Nations Charter, states that are fighting parties under Chapter VII may request economic assistance from the Security Council. Britain and France have declared their willingness to help, and Iraq has fought ISIS, which is placed under Chapter VII under Resolution 2170 of the Security Council.

He pointed out that there is a money laundering agreement for the year 2005 related to the retrieval of smuggled money in accordance with Articles 55 and 56 of which there is a fee for recovering these funds. Iraq signed it in 2007 by Law 35 of 2007, and the value of smuggled money is estimated at $ 500 billion.   LINK

That's all this is...a last-ditch effort to reduce the amount of dinar in the county of Iraq...it's nothing more than a distraction to mislead us, confuse us and to get us to get rid of our dinar... I know a lot of folks are concerned when they saw the dinar rate lowered…This is exactly what we have been waiting to see…it’s one of the signs that things are moving. We saw this in Kuwait…We saw this in China. We have seen this almost every time just before a revaluation or reinstatement…..this is good news.

MZ: The big news this weekend was the complete unpegging from Iraq ….we saw the dropping in value….which was expected and one of the signs I was told to watch for 15 years ago……I was told to watch it devalue before it starts moving up….. . I am personally very excited to see that change in value.

19-12-2020  Economy News – Baghdad   Economy News publishes the text of the Central Bank of Iraq’s statement on the change of the dollar’s exchange rate, and it says:

During the last months of this year, intense deliberations took place with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Legislative Authority, regarding the general economic situation and the financial crisis that the public finances are going through due to low oil prices and production, and the economic and health challenges.

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank held a number of meetings, some of which were hosted by the Minister of Finance for the same purpose.

The Central Bank of Iraq would like to show the following:

1- The structural distortions in the Iraqi economy impoverished public finances and restricted the ability of reform sought by the government and the Ministry of Finance. It is not a coincidence that the financial situation is this bad, nor is it the product of the current or the previous year, but unfortunately it took root more than a decade and a half ago due to the policy leadership of the economy and the preference for political thinking and the priorities of politicians over economic thought and development priorities and the rules of the relationship between economic policy on the one hand and fiscal and monetary policies On the other hand ... the fiscal policy lagged behind, and the monetary policy was busy repairing the outputs of the confused fiscal policy.

2- The subordination of the economic and financial policy to the aspirations and concerns of politicians resulted in the last acceptable models of financial management in Iraq, and the role of that administration was limited to the distribution of oil resources to life-sustaining requirements such as salaries and operational requirements, and the Ministry of Finance did not address its roles and leadership p
