Today, Thursday, the Parliamentary Integrity Committee announced a movement to amend some paragraphs of its internal system, while setting a date for voting on the amendment and electing a chairperson, two deputies, and a committee rapporteur.

A member of the committee, Sarwa Abdel-Wahed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The committee established a system of procedure for the years 2015 and 2019,” noting that “a meeting was held by the committee recently to set a new internal system for it."

Abdel Wahed added, “Work is underway to amend some paragraphs of the internal system for the year 2019,” noting that “voting on the amendment paragraphs by members of the committee will take place after the legislative recess.”

She pointed out that “the committee defined the powers of the president and his two deputies, in addition to changing some terms, considering that the terms were: “chairman, deputy, and rapporteur” and now it has become the president and his two deputies , in addition to defining some tasks for a field monitoring committee for state institutions.

Deputy: Three Reasons May Postpone The Provincial Elections

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) discussed on Wednesday with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission aspects of bilateral cooperation and development, according to the CBI statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement mentioned that the CBI governor, Mustafa Ghaleb, received the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, and the IMF mission that is currently visiting the capital, Baghdad.

The meeting addressed the main policy challenges and ways to develop the bilateral cooperation to serve the banking and economic sectors in Iraq, and to enhance financial stability, the statement added.

The CBI is hosting on Wednesday and Thursday meetings of the IMF mission in the capital, Baghdad, with the participation of the Ministry of Finance and representatives of the ministries of planning, electricity, labor, water resources and environment.

Director of the media office of the CBI, Omar Assem, mentioned earlier that the IMF mission will hold meetings on Thursday with the Iraqi Company for Financing Small and Medium Enterprises (ICFSME), Vitas Company, and senior staff from the CBI’s Banking Control Department, according to INA.

Oil Prices Are Rising Again

Economie| 09:07 - 08/12/2022  Follow-up - Mawazine News  Oil prices rose in early Asian trading on Thursday, after falling to their lowest level this year as US crude stocks fell, as concerns grew that the economic slowdown would weaken demand for fuel.

Brent crude futures rose 62 cents, or 0.8%, to $77.79 a barrel by 03:25 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 69 cents, or 1%, to $72.70 a barrel.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Brent settled below the previous closing low for the year, which it touched on the first day of 2022, while US West Texas Intermediate crude fell to a new annual low.

And the Energy Information Administration said yesterday, Wednesday, that US crude stocks fell last week, while gasoline and distillate stocks rose, which increased concerns about falling demand.

And the data helped the rise in oil prices, which showed that the Japanese economy contracted less than initially expected in the third quarter, and the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in China, among the largest consumers of crude oil in the world, also helped stabilize oil prices.

The bank said in a statement, "The Arab Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of Iraq, the Central Bank of Jordan, the Central Bank of Egypt, and the (Bunna) platform launched a joint Arab initiative to launch a service for paying the salaries of retirees residing in Arab countries using this platform."

The Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, said, according to the statement, that "Iraq is keen to provide the best financial services to its citizens," noting that "this initiative will provide distinguished financial services and solutions to Iraqi retirees residing in the sister countries, Jordan and Egypt, upon receiving their monthly dues directly through bank accounts." In a transparent, moderate cost and in a fast manner.

He added, "The initiative comes within the framework of our continuous efforts to employ financial technology and provide the banking sector with the best modern and secure solutions in the payments sector and financial inclusion, in a way that enhances joint Arab economic cooperation."

According to the bank, "the initiative seeks, as a first stage, to include the category of Iraqi retirees residing in both the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Arab Republic of Egypt from receiving their monthly salaries more quickly and with higher efficiency, by opening a bank account for every Iraqi retiree who wishes to benefit from this service in any of the banks." Participation in the initiative, which has completed the requirements of technical readiness to join the Bonani platform.

It is noteworthy that the "Buna" platform is a payment system operated by the Regional Corporation for Clearing and Settlement of Arab Payments, which is owned by the Arab Monetary Fund, and it constitutes an integrated system specialized in providing clearing and settlement services for payments in Arab and international currencies, aiming to empower financial and banking institutions in the Arab region and beyond.
