Clare: Tomorrow they will meet.. Independents: It is difficult to form a parliamentary bloc of 40 deputies

A group of independent deputies will hold a special parliamentary meeting tomorrow, Sunday, to discuss the initiatives put forward by the two sides of the Shiite conflict, the coordination framework and the Sadrist bloc, to determine their compass, which in turn will determine their subsequent steps, accompanied by some demands that will achieve the desired change in the overall political process .

Independent MP Adnan Al-Jabri told Shafak News Agency, "Most of the independent representatives will hold a meeting tomorrow to deliberate among themselves on the last two initiatives that were put forward by the Coordination Framework Forces and Muqtada al-Sadr."

GodLover: Honestly, I am beginning to wonder if this can ever be resolved without another election. Anyway, I can't see it being resolved anytime soon. One or more articles spoke of the end of June to resolve the current political impasse I believe & I certainly would not be surprised.

Clare: 6 Arab countries raise interest rates

The US Federal Reserve raised the main interest rate, by 50 basis points, as a more aggressive step so far in its battle against inflation spikes.

A number of central banks in Arab countries raised interest rates, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan.

The Central Bank of Egypt is scheduled to meet on May 16 to discuss monetary policy, including raising interest rates.

The US Central Bank’s decision to fight high inflation, which recorded 8.5% last March, was prompted by the lack of supply of goods due to supply chain problems, whether as a result of the Covid closures in China, or the Ukrainian war and its impact on the prices of many basic commodities from food to energy.

Samson: Iraq... Ambiguity surrounding the 2022 budget

Eyes in Iraq are still awaiting the completion of the draft financial budget for the year 2022, hoping to include what the Iraqi citizen aspires to, at a time when calls are rising for calls to restore the exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar to its previous era.

With calls from economists to amend the dollar exchange rate in the current year’s draft budget law, sending the draft to Parliament is still surrounded by ambiguity, after government statements indicated that the current government could not prepare a draft budget law.

Samson: Central Bank : Half of the banks in Iraq are within the excellent level

Tuesday, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Ihsan Al-Yasiri, confirmed that there are more than 70 banks, only 7 of which are governmental.

Al-Yasiri said, in a televised program affiliated with the National News Center, that "the government banking sector used to account for 85% of the deposits of institutions and the public, and that there are more than 70 banks, only 7 of which are governmental, and only half of them can be classified within the excellent level."

He added, "One of the functions of the Central Bank is to monitor the banking sector." LINK

WASHINGTON – Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson met with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ali Allawi on the margins of the IMF-World Bank spring meetings.

They discussed challenges facing Iraq, including inflation and pressure on supplies of food and other commodities as spillovers from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – food prices in Iraq have increased by double digits since the start of the war. Under Secretary Nelson and Minister Allawi also discussed economic reform efforts and fighting corruption.

The head of the Russian Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, said that the financial regulator (the Russian Central Bank) is preparing to file a lawsuit to overturn the West's decision to freeze part of the reserves of the International Bank

The head of the Russian Central Bank said, "This is an unprecedented freezing of gold and foreign exchange reserves, we will prepare legal cases, and we are preparing to file them (a lawsuit) because the move is unprecedented on a global scale
